The Rock announces first appearance since WrestleMania no-show as WWE fans seek answers over MIA star

Daily Record22-04-2025

Wrestling loyalists were left fuming that The Final Boss didn't appear for the John Cena vs Cody Rhodes in Las Vegas
The Rock has been announced for his first major appearance since his WrestleMania 41 absence.
The Final Boss was on the wrong end of the wrath of WWE fanbase after his no-show in Las Vegas over the weekend despite being the mastermind behind John Cena 's turn.

The Rock changed the trajectory of the Road to WrestleMania when he cemented the alliance, with Travis Scott, against Cody Rhodes at the WWE Elimination Chamber in February.
Cena then beat Cody Rhodes to become the Undisputed WWE Champion and break Ric Flair's record by becoming a 17-time champion.
However the Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was nowhere to be seen at the 'biggest show of all', leaving fans fuming.
One said: "The Rock is the biggest fraud in the history of professional wrestling. This man does not care about this business at all, he only comes back for his convenience."
"Truly an awful company man," another wrestling supporter said.
A further remarked: "Anyone else find that very anticlimactic? Like what??? Why did Travis Scott have a 5 minute entrance in the middle of the match and WHERE IS THE ROCK???? Happy for Cena, but WHAT????"

One audience member at the most recent Monday Night Raw was even spotted with a sign that read: "Dwayne, turn up to work."
Fans have had to wait for some answers - and they may now get some.
One of the panelists of 'The Pat McAfee Show', "Boston" Connor Campbell, took to his X to announce that The Rock will be the next guest on the show tomorrow on Tuesday, which airs at around 5:15pm UK time.

He revealed that they had questions for the Final Boss regarding an Austrian, referencing Gunther, who attacked Pat McAfee on the RAW after WrestleMania.
The Ring General was frustrated after he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41.
No mention was made of The Rock's WrestleMania absence but given Pat's reputation for straight talking he could shed some light on plans going forward.

And the pair, plus re-signed Celtic hero Kieran Tierney, 28 — who has a million social media fans — are primed to rake in fortunes from their posts. Brand expert Nick Ede told how they are cashing in on links to other major teams. Robbo is tipped to move to Spain's Atletico Madrid, while McTominay started at Manchester United and Tierney was at Arsenal for six years. Mr Ede said their Instagram figures could be translated into 'millions of pounds'. He explained: 'They attract loads of followers, and not just football fans. "As with any kind of public figure, people want to know more about them. 'And that could be brands they're associated with. It builds up your following. 'It also means they have a strong currency to expand their personal brand — and it's great for the team they play for.' But the trio are not prolific contributors. Royal Ascot chaos as jockey launched from winning horse amid utter mayhem at finish line

James Doyle was thrown off Lazzat in a chaotic twist just moments after riding the four-year-old to victory at Royal Ascot James Doyle was unexpectedly unseated from Lazzat in a surprising turn of events, just moments after guiding the four year old to victory at Royal Ascot. Lazzat, who is co-owned by the Emir of Qatar, fended off a late challenge from Satono Reve to clinch the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes for trainer Jerome Reynier. ‌ Flora Of Bermuda finished third but was well behind the leading pair. Doyle's elation quickly turned into shock as Lazzat, still full of energy, threw him off just as he was preparing for photographs and his post-race interview with ITV Racing. ‌ The horse then began to gallop around the track. Staff members made frantic attempts to regain control of Lazzat, but the horse continued its impromptu lap of honour. Eventually, Lazzat was caught and led back to the winner's enclosure so the celebrations could officially commence. Doyle, unscathed from the unusual incident, managed to see the funny side when he was finally interviewed on ITV Racing. He commented: "Trying to flash the sheet at him and he went around, but yeah, what can you say? I can't take any credit for this at all. "Jerome and his team, they know all about him. The jockey who previously partnered with him, his young rider in France, did a sterling job advancing him through the levels. "He also took the reins in Australia for the Golden Eagle, where he put in an impressive performance. We were well-prepared, and I must mention that Jerome was brimming with confidence." ‌ He was saying all week: 'Don't worry about the ground, he's fine'. We mapped the pace out and I just thought: 'If I end up winning, I end up winning'. He [Reynier] said: 'Don't worry, he won't stop'. It worked out perfectly. I could feel him [Satono Reve] coming, but you won't get a more genuine horse than this. He really pinned his ears back when he joined me and he was always going to fend it off. "It does help when you get a double on the first day, you can just relax into it. If I had a pound for every time someone said to me: 'That's it, the pressure is off'... but it's completely the opposite. ‌ "Especially with this horse today. I thought he was my banker of the week, which I feel a bit guilty because we only picked the horse up a couple of weeks ago and obviously I landed on him, but I have to say a huge thank you to all of the team." Conor McGregor links up with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers in Ibiza days after 'punch' incident

McGregor has been pictured linking up with Celtic manager Rodgers in Ibiza, just days after the former UFC champion was allegedly involved in a nightclub altercation Conor McGregor has been spotted rubbing shoulders with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers in Ibiza. The UFC star - who previously claimed he has held discussions to become a Celtic shareholder - took to social media on Friday evening to post a photo of himself alongside the Hoops boss, who was cradling a baby in the image. ‌ "LEGENDARY DOUBLE CHAMP LINK UP! NEXT YEAR, TREBLE! GOD IS GREAT! @CelticFC @ufc Congrats to the Rodgers family on the new addition to their family," McGregor captioned the picture on his social media platforms. ‌ This encounter between Rodgers and McGregor occurred shortly after the latter was reportedly involved in a scuffle at an Ibiza nightclub. The Sun published footage early Tuesday from Pacha nightclub, which purportedly shows McGregor leaning down to speak to an unidentified man on the dance floor. Seconds later, the 36 year old seems to launch two punches. Following the incident, the man was seen hitting the ground, prompting witnesses to share their accounts of what transpired. One eyewitness told The Sun that it seemed there were no repercussions for the ex-dual-weight UFC titleholder. "The guy seemed to fall to the floor, and his mates came to pick him up and get him away," they reported to The Sun. "There [didn't appear to be any] consequences for Conor." Another recounted: "About five people fell to the floor as the guy stumbled back. It was a bit like bowling pins, but the guy was really shaken." They continued: "About a minute later, the bouncers came and got him on the back and took him out of the club. ‌ "It was right before close anyway," they added. "There was no messing around; they just removed him. Conor left through the garden a bit later; he didn't look very happy." Since then, McGregor has shared that he was in Ibiza after treating his football teammates to a trip to the Spanish resort. The UFC star has been playing in an over 35's league with his local pub team and celebrated their recent league victory. "To celebrate winning the league I took the @blackforgeinn football squad away on holiday to Ibiza! All expenses paid, VIP's," McGregor posted on social media along with a selection of snaps and clips from their getaway. He elaborated: "LEAGUE CHAMPIONS, BABY! Reach out, link up, join a team! Get active! For the sake of your mental health you will thank yourself! #ibizapartyisland." Three years ago, McGregor stated talks took place with Dermot Desmond about his shares to provide financial backing for the Parkhead side.
