Norman Reedus Says 'Yeah, For Sure' He'd Play Sam Bridges in the Death Stranding Movie

Norman Reedus is completely open to playing Sam Porter Bridges in the Death Stranding movie, if the opportunity arises.
While promoting the film From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, IGN asked Reedus the question, to which the actor replied 'If it was an option, yeah, for sure.'
But Reedus was quick to make clear that there were no plans for it whatsoever at the moment.
'I don't know what's happening with it, right?' Reedus says, 'It's so pre-pre [pre-production], but yeah.'
The Death Stranding movie was announced by Hideo Kojima and A245 in December 2023, but no details were announced at the time. To this day we still don't know if the film will directly adapt the game, or rather be a separate story that ties into the game world.

The films they are delivering to the world are high in quality and very innovative. I have been attracted to their creations and they have even inspired my own work. The latest development was in April 2024, when the film finally found its director with Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One). No other creatives or actors attached to the film are known for the moment.
The world of Death Stranding is set to expand this year, of course, with the release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. In the same IGN interview, Reedus talks about his experience working on the sequel.
'As far as working with him [Kojima] and understanding where his head's at, I don't think anyone can understand that, he's just that guy, and he's got great ideas,' Reedus says, 'But story-wise, I did know what was happening more. There's more action in it, there's more of a definite goal to get to. It's always a trip working on those things.'

A24 will release 3 new movies on HBO Max in July 2025 – and there's only one I'll be watching due to its perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating

Since that multi-year deal was signed in December 2023, over 100 A24-developed films have joined Max's back catalog. You'll be able to add more to that growing list next month, too. July 2025 marks the official streaming debut for three more new movies from the acclaimed indie studio, including two that only arrived in theaters earlier this year. A universally appealing, beautifully shot, witty, and at-times uncomfortable movie whose exploration of death, self-deception, and communal misgivings is incredibly impactful.
