The new trailer for Superman sees Corenswet, 31, donning the most iconic cape in DC Comics history and facing off against various adversaries in his quest to keep Metropolis safe.
Released on Wednesday, May 14, the new trailer offers glimpses of Superman's faithful dog Krypto, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, the coworker and love interest to his day-to-day alter ego Clark Kent, and Nicholas Hoult as the villainous Lex Luthor.
The James Gunn movie's cast also includes Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, and more.
A press release for the film teases, "In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who's driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind."
At a preview event for Superman's first teaser release in December, Gunn, 58, and Corenswet told reporters that the movie introduces audiences to Clark early in his career as a reporter with the newspaper The Daily Planet.
"The thing that I was the most worried about was casting Superman at the beginning of this process," Gunn shared at the time. Of Corenswet, he added, "After the first day, I was like, 'Oh, I think that guy's pretty good.' "

Following Henry Cavill's previous portrayal of the character, the new Superman is conceived as a reboot of the DC Universe, launched by Gunn and Peter Safran. In January, Gunn confirmed in a post on X that DC Studios and director Craig Gillespie have started production on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starring Milly Alcock as the titular superhero. Jason Momoa, previously Aquaman, confirmed he has a role in that movie as the character Lobo.
Superman is in theaters July 11.

According to David Corenswet, getting in and out of the Superman suit isn't super easy. Talking with PEOPLE about what it was like to wear the iconic Man of Steel costume, Corewnswet gets candid. 'There are lots of zippers, but there's no single zipper that allows me to go to the bathroom, which you would think would be quite straightforward,' he says. 'But nothing is straightforward about these things. I mean, we talked about it and we tried and it was not worth the costs that came with it,' adds the star of director James Gunn 's Superman, in theaters July 11. Asked if that was torture for him, Corenswet says 'not at all.' 'I never had an issue with that. I had the most amazing dresser you could ask for, Scotty, who was sort of like a, I don't know, he felt like a mob fixer. He was always in my ear going, 'Do you need a break? Do you need a break? Tell 'em you need a break and we can step you out. I'll tell him it's me,' ' he says. 'He would make excuses for me if I needed, and we got very good together at getting in and out of the suit, so he would do it quite quickly, and I could take breaks if I needed to over the course of a day,' says Corenswet. The actor recalls the first time he put on the suit after getting cast in the role. 'It was very underwhelming. It was in pieces. The S wasn't even on yet. It was really just about the blue tights,' says Corenswet, who packed on around 40 pounds of muscle to play the superhero. 'It was quite snug because they had made it to my proportions when I screen-tested where I weighed about 195 pounds, and when I walked in for my first costume fitting, I weighed about a 235, 240 pounds,' he says. 'You hear actors who play superheroes talking about squeezing into the suits. I got kind of claustrophobic in the suit the first time just being constricted in all those places at the same time,' he says, calling it an 'intense experience.' Corenswet was announced as the star of Superman in 2023 after he beat out several other names including Patrick Schwarzenegger and Nicholas Hoult (who was since cast as Superman's nemesis Lex Luthor). ‘Gone too soon': HGTV host known for ‘endless kindness' dies at 55
Loren Ruch, co-host of the 2021 HGTV series 'HGTV House Party' and had of content for the network, has died. He was 55. Ruch died Thursday, June 12 of acute myeloid leukemia, Variety reported, which is cancer of the blood and bone marrow that affects myeloid cells, according to the Mayo Clinic. Channing Dungey, chair of Warner Bros. Television Group, called Ruch 'the rare leader who lifted everyone around him' in a statement obtained by the outlet. 'Known for his unwavering dedication, endless kindness, and unshakeable integrity, Loren built not only hit shows but enduring relationships, serving as mentor, advocate and true friend to countless colleagues across the television landscape,' Dungey wrote. 'His impact stretched far beyond the screen. Loren was the connective tissue of every room he entered — the glue that bound teams, departments, and friendships. He possessed the rare gift of making people feel seen, valued, and inspired to do their best work.' Ruch had been a top programming executive at HGTV since 2008, according to Variety. He served as an executive producer on several series including 'HGTV Dream Home,' 'HGTV Green Home,' 'Rose Parade' and 'White House Christmas.' Ruch is also credited with helping to mold such shows as 'My Lottery Dream Home,' 'Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge,' 'Celebrity IOU,' 'Battle on the Beach' and the Emmy-nominated 'A Very Brady Renovation.' All About David Corenswet's Wife, Julia Warner
Superman actor David Corenswet plays a man leading an epic double-life. The star has some experience there, because he keeps his off-screen world extremely private. Corenswet is married to his wife, Julia Best Warner, with whom he shares one child.
