"AIIMS institutions form the backbone of India's healthcare system, and young institutes like Nagpur are showing how fast, meaningful progress is possible when guided by clear vision and regional commitment," said Srivastava while addressing one of the sessions.
The secretary of the Ministry Of Health And Family Welfare (MoHFW) and joint secretary of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) conducted on-ground assessment rounds of AIIMS Nagpur facilities during the conclave.
Several models of best practices from AIIMS Nagpur were formally recommended for adoption by other AIIMS in the country.
The Day 2 sessions featured focused presentations on governance reforms, hospital services, research, and teaching-learning, with AIIMS Nagpur repeatedly drawing appreciation for practical, scalable, and patient-oriented approaches.
Dr Prashant Joshi, executive director of AIIMS Nagpur, said, "We are proud to contribute to the national AIIMS ecosystem from Nagpur. Our efforts are focused on real-world impact — whether it's reducing neonatal mortality in tribal districts or improving everyday patient experience through innovation and transparency.
The spirit of collaboration at this conclave is truly a milestone."
"This conclave marks the beginning of a unified 'One-AIIMS' culture — sharing what works, learning from each other, and raising the bar together," Dr Joshi added.

Campaign to prevent diarrhoea among children under 5 years of age

Puducherry has launched a two-month-long diarrhoea prevention campaign that aims to reach out to an estimated 74,390 children in the 0-5 years age group. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, led the launch of 'Stop Diarrhoea Campaign' formulated on the instructions of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, at a recent function organised at the Government Girls' Middle School, Thilaspet, a government press release stated. The Chief Minister also distributed ORS packets and zinc tablets to the children in the target age group. The programme, scheduled to go on till July 31, aims to achieve zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhoea as part of a nation-wide intensive campaign. Over a two-month-long drive with pre-positioning of two ORS packets and zinc as a co-packaging to children under 5 years of age to broad base access to treatment, the effort would also promote individual and community-level hygienic practices, such as washing hands thoroughly with soap and clean water, consumption of safe and purified drinking water and maintaining proper sanitation facilities. The Health Department will also ensure that children receive Rotavirus and Pentavalent vaccinations and Vitamin A syrup as per schedule and encourage exclusive breastfeeding for infants for the first six months before introducing complementary feeding from the seventh month. MLAs V. Aroumougame and S. Ramesh, V. Ravichandran, Health Director, S. Govindarajan, Director, National Health Mission in Puducherry, and Health Deputy Directors V. Narendra Modi-led Government addressed problems facing health sector with ‘holistic' view: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (June 20, 2025) lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government for its 'holistic' approach in addressing health issues faced by the public. He was speaking after inaugurating the Adichunchanagiri University (ACU) Bengaluru campus. 'Our leader and PM Modi had said several years ago in Gujarat that poverty's biggest issue is illness and the cost of treatment; the administration has to provide for the treatment of illness for the poor. I can say with pride today that Modi, when he became the Prime Minister, fulfilled it by providing 60 crore poor with free treatment up to ₹5 lakh,' Mr. Shah said. The Modi Government has addressed the problem of health with a holistic view, with initiatives like building toilets in about 12 crore houses through the Fit India movement, Yoga Day, Mission Indradanush, Poshan Abhiyaan, Ayushman Bharat, and Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana, he added. 'In a way, it is being ensured that a citizen doesn't fall ill from the time he/she is in the mother's womb until the person becomes a complete citizen, and in case the person is ill, he takes treatment without paying a higher price for it,' he added. Major efforts were taken to increase the number of doctors in the country, Mr. Shah said. In 2014, the country had 7 AIIMS, and today there are 23 AIIMS, and the number of medical colleges has increased from 387 to 780. 'There were 51,000 MBBS seats then (2014); today it is 1,18,000, and the number of PG seats was 31,000; today it is 74,000. So, 1,18,000 MBBS doctors and 74,000 double graduate doctors are coming out every year in the country,' he added. Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna, and Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji of the Adichunchanagiri Math were present.
