The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history.
To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team.

With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover.

And for today's article, we will continue with the first of six people to wear the No. 19 jersey, Boston big man alum Bob Doll. After ending his college career at Colorado, Doll joined the (defunct) St. Louis Bombers in their (and the league's) first-ever season in 1946.
The Steamboat Springs, Colorado native would play the first two seasons of his pro career with the Bombers, ending when he signed with the Celtics in 1948. His stay with the team would span two seasons, ending when he was dealt to the (then) Minneapolis (now, Los Angeles) Lakers in 1950 (he would later retire).

During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Doll wore only jersey No. 19 and put up 7.3 points and 2.4 assists per game.

Should the Boston Celtics take Joan Beringer in the 2025 NBA draft?

Should the Boston Celtics take Joan Beringer in the 2025 NBA draft? At just 18 years old, Beringer is an intriguing prospect who stands at 6-foot-10 and weighs in at 230 lbs, playing the center position for Croatia's KK Cedevita Junior club last season. The Strasbourg, France native put up 5.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in that campaign while hitting 64.4% of his shots from the field overall, but just 56.6% from the free throw line. Those might not be eye-popping numbers, but European ball tends to be more of a team effort on both ends, and he accomplished it in just 18.8 minutes of playing time. Advertisement The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk over Beringer's fit in Boston. Jaylen Brown Has Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

ESPN is reporting that Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Wednesday morning. The surgery was described as 'minimally invasive', and it is expected that he will be available to fully participate in training camp. ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported in April that Brown had received pain injections for the knee starting in March, and she later reported in May that he finished the season with a partially torn right meniscus. Advertisement Brown averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists during the 2024-25 regular season. Playing through the injury in the playoffs he had 22.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. Browns recovery is of increased importance due to the Achilles tendon rupture sustained by teammate Jayson Tatum. Tatum's injury is expected to keep him out of the Celtics' lineup for at least most of the 2025-26 season. More from
