Samsung's AI Home in Dubai: A Glimpse into Smarter Living
Samsung Gulf Electronics just dropped a game-changer in Dubai with its AI Home showcase, turning a villa into a futuristic playground of connected tech. Forget boring product demos—this event lets guests live the experience.
Unlike conventional product launches confined to retail displays, Samsung's event created a fully immersive environment where guests experienced its connected home ecosystem in real-world scenarios. Eight lifestyle zones replicated familiar spaces like living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens, showing how AI-powered devices interact and enhance daily life.
Neo QLED TVs with near-8K visuals, a Frame Pro TV that doubles as a gallery-worthy art piece, and a Bespoke AI fridge that knows your grocery habits. The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra vacuum? It adjusts suction on its own, while the Odyssey 3D monitor takes gaming to another dimension.
All these devices sync seamlessly via Samsung's SmartThings platform, which even plays nice with Amazon Ring and smart curtains.

At the event, Gulf Insider spoke with Guran Nakiboglu, Head of the Home Appliances Division; Shafi Alam, Head of the Direct-to-Consumer Business & Corporate Marketing Division; and Mohamad Sharif Oubaid, Director and Head of the Visual Display Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics.
All three Samsung execs said that AI's just getting started. Soon, your home will adapt to you—tweaking lights, temps, and even TV content based on your vibe.
The team pointed out that within the next few years, AI will become essential for connected living, as devices increasingly adapt to user preferences and behaviours. AI-powered personalisation will make technology more intuitive and responsive, whether it's managing appliances, adjusting lighting and temperature, or generating on-screen content.
They highlighted how innovations like Samsung's Frame TV, which displays curated art when not in use, and the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra vacuum, which automatically adjusts suction based on floor types, are already paving the way for smarter, more adaptable homes. However, they noted that many consumers aren't yet fully leveraging the capabilities of their smart devices, and events like the AI Home showcase help bridge this gap.

iGA launches AI Talent Program via Innovation Hub
The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) announced the launch of the 'AI Talent Program' during a ceremony at the Innovation Lab at its headquarters in Isa Town. The first batch features 14 top-performing ICT students from University of Bahrain and Ahlia University who are preparing for their graduation projects. Running from 15 June to 15 December, 2025, the program offers a comprehensive blend of academic and hands-on AI work through six months of on-the-job training at the iGA. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, iGA Chief Executive, highlighted the importance of the training program, emphasizing its alignment with the government vision and iGA's commitment to implementing directives by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information Technology and Communication (MCICT). The program aims to empower Bahraini talent with AI skills to prepare specialists capable of improving government services through innovation. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al Ansari, University of Bahrain President; Dr. Hessa Al Junaid, University of Bahrain Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Professor Mansoor Alaali, President of Ahlia University. Al Qaed also noted that the AI Talent Program offers hands-on training with AI and digital transformation experts, focusing on teamwork, programming, and the development of AI prototypes for areas related to government needs. The students will work in multiple teams to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and their projects will be documented to support implementing impactful solutions. Al Qaed has extended his appreciation to the University of Bahrain, Ahlia University, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for their strategic partnerships. He stressed that collaboration between academia and the government is essential to preparing skilled talent capable of meeting digital age challenges. He thanked AWS for partnering with the iGA to train the first batch, enhancing training quality, and supporting student development, in line with Bahrain's Vision 2030 towards an advanced eGovernment. iGA Director of Innovation and Advanced Technologies, Latifa Al Abbasi stated that the AI Talent Program bridges academic learning with market needs by combining graduation projects, practical training, and optional courses as selected by each university. She noted that the iGA aims to empower students to deliver innovative solutions for government processes and affirmed that investing in youth supports Bahrain's future and helps build a knowledge and innovation-based economy. The program's key anticipated outcomes include preparing students for future jobs through comprehensive academic and professional experience, developing innovative government solutions, enhancing AI and programming skills, and providing professional guidance to support their career growth. GCC Surges Ahead Despite Global Slump
The Gulf economies are expected to grow faster than earlier projected, defying a broader global downturn and weak oil prices, according to the latest ICAEW Economic Insight report released on Monday. The Q2 update revises the GCC's 2025 GDP forecast upward to 4.4% from 4.0%, underscoring the region's resilience amid rising trade barriers and fiscal pressures. Prepared by Oxford Economics for ICAEW, the report contrasts the GCC's improved outlook with the downgrade in global GDP growth to 2.4%, the slowest pace since the 2020 pandemic shock. Oil and beyond A key driver behind the upgraded outlook is a faster-than-expected reversal of OPEC+ production cuts, which has lifted oil sector growth projections from 3.2% to 4.5%. However, the Brent crude average for 2025 is still forecast at a modest $67.3 per barrel, limiting fiscal space for several states. Only the UAE and Qatar are projected to maintain surpluses in 2025. Most other member states are likely to face tightening budgets, with Saudi Arabia forecast to run a deficit of 3.4% of GDP as spending outpaces oil revenues. Still, non-oil sectors are holding up strongly across the region, with forecast growth of 4.1% in 2025 driven by domestic demand, investment momentum, and diversification initiatives. The report highlights that the region remains well-positioned to absorb trade rebalances resulting from the 10% US tariff on GCC imports, which excludes energy products and has limited impact due to low US export exposure. Leaders of the pack Saudi Arabia's GDP forecast has been revised up to 5.2% for 2025, driven by strong oil output and a 5.3% projected rise in non-oil activities. Despite an 18% year-on-year drop in oil revenues during Q1 and growing fiscal deficits, investor confidence remains firm, with S&P upgrading the Kingdom's credit rating to A+. The UAE is expected to post 5.1% growth in 2025, supported by a 4.7% rise in non-oil GDP, increased oil output, and continued strength in tourism and investment. The D33 agenda and AI-focused collaborations are seen as key contributors to its expanding economic base. Dubai's 5.3 million international visitors in Q1 highlight the momentum in the tourism sector, projected to contribute nearly 13% of the UAE's GDP this year. Future outlook While the global economy struggles under trade tensions and slowdowns, the Gulf appears to be charting its own course, powered by diversification, infrastructure spending, and a strategic recalibration of oil production.
