The home of the future is here… and it knows what you need before you do

Picture a bedroom that dims the lights based on your sleep routine, a washing machine you can start when you're on the go and a living room that sets the perfect ambiance with just a voice command. This isn't a scene from 2050, but a rapidly emerging reality as home technology gets more intuitive, and proactive. Welcome to the era of intelligent living, where the smart home doesn't just follow commands; it anticipates your needs. From smart to intuitive Until now, smart homes were largely about remote controls and automation: turning off lights with a tap on your phone, or asking a voice assistant to set a timer. The next evolution takes things a step further. Smart home technology is evolving to deliver homes that learn the residents' habits, interpret the environment, and make independent decisions to improve their quality of life. This shift is powered by advances in AI and machine learning, allowing appliances and devices to go beyond basic connectivity. Think of a robotic vacuum that learns your daily schedule and quietly cleans when you're out. Some of this tech is already available. Samsung recently revealed its Home AI, which includes a broad range of new products, such as Bespoke AI Refrigerators, the Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo, Washers, and Dryers, designed with this kind of learning in mind. Managing this AI home is simplified through a central control hub that even connects third party devices through SmartThings without the need for a separate hub device. SmartThings, Samsung's global IoT platform, allows for secure and seamless integration across Galaxy mobile devices, smart TVs, home appliances and partner devices for consistent and personalised everyday experiences. What's even more exciting is how seamlessly these capabilities will come together in the years ahead. A truly smart home goes beyond responding, it actually cares for residents' wellbeing. Wellness is fast becoming the next frontier in home innovation. Future-forward homes are being designed to monitor sleep patterns through wearable tech and adjust lighting, temperature, and even noise levels to promote rest and recovery. Smart kitchens will offer nutritional suggestions based on what's in your fridge, while integrated fitness ecosystems can provide real-time feedback on your workouts and recovery. 'It's not hard to imagine your home acting like a silent wellness coach; nudging you toward better habits without being intrusive.' As remote work and hybrid lifestyles continue, the home is also evolving into a multifunctional space that balances productivity with inspiration. The future home will include AI-powered assistants that extract key insights from meetings, manage calendars intuitively, and help streamline work. But it's not all business. Art and self-expression will find a place too. Screens will become canvases, displaying curated collections from top museums or even your latest AI-generated artwork. Your living space becomes an extension of your personality, adapting dynamically to mood and moment. Many of these features are already in our hands, or at least within reach. AI-integrated devices, smart hubs like Samsung SmartThings, and wearables that sync with home ecosystems are laying the groundwork. What's coming next is greater interconnectivity and a more natural interface between humans and technology. How safe is it? For those who view smart homes through a dystopian lens, Samsung is applying defense-grade security to its appliances. Enhanced Knox security on devices across the lineup allows users to enjoy their AI Home experience with peace of mind. Trust Chain, which is part of Knox Matrix, is applied to all Wi-Fi enabled Samsung appliances launching in 2025. Users can continuously monitor products' security status in real time through the dashboard. Knox Vault is also applied to Samsung home appliances for the first time, to store sensitive user information, such as passwords and authentication information, in a separate hardware chip to ensure protection. Furthermore, to protect against the potential of future quantum attacks, Samsung's security is also equipped with post-quantum cryptography (PQC), a part of Knox Matrix Credential Sync, for its screen-applied products. AI is also being used to improve product maintenance, so you're never stuck with a broken fridge on the day of the big dinner party. Samsung's SmartThings Home Care, for instance, utilises AI to diagnose each appliance's status, and if signs of malfunction are detected, it sends a notification in advance. In addition, a technical support representative can also help, based on pre-diagnosis results. The home of the future isn't just about bells and whistles. It's about creating a living space that supports you, adapts to you, and occasionally even surprises you with how much it 'gets' you. With homes that can think, feel, and care, the future is already knocking. 5 smart Samsung AC features people ignore (and how to use them)

If you have a Samsung smart air conditioner, there's a good chance you're only scratching the surface of what it can actually do. Most users stick to the basic modes they're familiar with, like Cooling or Sleep mode. But beyond those, there are several built-in settings that can make your experience smoother, help you save on electricity, and even extend the overall life of your AC. After speaking with one of my trusted AC service engineers and a few relatives who use Samsung ACs, and after spending some time on the SmartThings app myself, I realised how many of these settings are buried in menus and app sections we don't usually explore or even notice. However, they are surprisingly very helpful if you know where to look and how to use them. This is one of the smartest features I have come across on the latest Samsung ACs. So what it does is when your AC is connected with Wi-Fi and linked via the app, you can access and control AI Auto cooling directly from your smartphone and adjust accordingly as per your preferences. One thing more if you don't use the app you can also activate this mode from your AC's remote. Just press the mode button until it shows AI Auto mode. Auto AI cooling is based on machine learning which understands your behaviour like when you usually turn the AC on, your preferred temperature, and how long you use it. For example, if you always lower the temperature at night or turn on fan mode in the morning, it'll start doing that for you. The more you use it, the better it gets at guessing what you'll do next. It's important because it knows what you need without using much power. Many users buy Wind Free models but rarely use the Wind Free mode. I know you might be confused about what this feature is. So, basically it is designed for comfort without the direct blast of cold air. This setting in Samsung smart ACs delivers cool air through thousands of micro holes, keeping the room comfortably cool without that strong blast of air. It's especially useful at night or for people who are sensitive to cold drafts. The temperature remains consistent, and there's no direct airflow hitting your face or body. For example, your parents might feel too cold when the AC throws a strong blast of air as soon as it turns on. To avoid that, you can use Wind Free mode which keeps the room cool gently and makes it more comfortable while sleeping, especially during nights when the air conditioner runs for longer hours. Setting routines inside Samsung's SmartThings app is like giving your AC a regular schedule. When I set a routine to turn on the AC when I reach 500 metres away from my home, it actually worked. You can make routines like turn off the AC if the room door stays open for 5 minutes or switch to fan mode at any particular time you want. It only takes a few minutes to set up and works just as you'd expect. Now let's understand what Eco Mode is. It sounds like the kind of thing you only use when you feel guilty about your power bill. But it's genuinely useful. I tested it during moderately warm days, and it did a fine job keeping things comfortable while running the compressor less frequently. Yes, it doesn't freeze the room so quickly. It gently cools down the room which saves energy because the compressor doesn't need to work that hard. Think of this as your AC's way of telling you something is wrong before it gets serious. Using the SmartThings app, this feature can run a quick check and alert you about things like gas leaks, dirty filters, or fan problems. You get to know about these issues well before actual problems start, which helps you avoid random breakdowns and service hassles. These smart features aren't really hidden. We just miss them because we stick to the basics. If you have got a Samsung smart AC, take a few minutes to explore the app or remote. You might be surprised how much smoother your summer cooling can get.

Samsung's Bespoke AI refrigerators learn your voice and know who's speaking

Now times have literally changed in the world of refrigerators; earlier fridges were only appliances that could keep your food preserved, your vegetables fresh for more days, and had inverter compressor technology. But now it has really changed as if we're living in a new advanced world of refrigerators that don't just store food but understand who we are, what we need, and when we need it. Samsung's new smart fridges are one such example. Bespoke AI fridges now support Voice ID features provided by Bixby. With this new update, Samsung's latest Bespoke AI refrigerators can recognise individual voices and understand who is speaking at the moment. When the user voice is registered directly on a fridge, Bixby can identify that person and adjust the display accordingly. This means that your calendar, photos, to-do list, and other settings show up as you speak. It is no longer one screen for everyone; the fridge knows who you are. Another great feature is the double tap feature. Instead of tapping on the Bixby icon on the refrigerator, now you can simply double tap the fridge's display even if it's off to activate Bixby. It is a small feature but very useful in the kitchen. For example, when your hands are messy while cooking in the kitchen, you can just double tap the screen to get a recipe or set a timer. Beyond the voice feature, these Bespoke AI refrigerators are equipped with AI Vision Inside. It's a camera based food identification system. These cameras not only show you what's inside, they can also recognise and track different fresh and packed food items kept inside. This lets the fridge suggest recipes, monitor when the food is about to expire and help reduce food wastage. You can even check the contents of your fridge remotely using the SmartThings app while you're at the store. Speaking of SmartThings, the new fridges work with the app to do many helpful things. You can see how much power the refrigerator is using and get tips to save energy, making it even more useful for users. You can also send recipes and shopping lists from the fridge to your phone. Even better, you can control other smart devices in your home, like lights or air purifiers, right from the fridge screen. These features will make your everyday tasks more simpler. Samsung's Bespoke AI fridges come with helpful features like two ice makers, cooling zones you can adjust, and a big 32 inch screen. You can use the screen to watch videos, see your calendar, or mirror your Samsung phone. These smart fridges also support people with visual impairments using voice control and screen reader options. New features like Voice ID and double tap to wake Bixby are coming to the 2025 models first and will be added to more fridges soon. These fridges do more than just keep food cold. They are becoming smart helpers in the kitchen.
