
iGA launches AI Talent Program via Innovation Hub
The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) announced the launch of the 'AI Talent Program' during a ceremony at the Innovation Lab at its headquarters in Isa Town. The first batch features 14 top-performing ICT students from University of Bahrain and Ahlia University who are preparing for their graduation projects. Running from 15 June to 15 December, 2025, the program offers a comprehensive blend of academic and hands-on AI work through six months of on-the-job training at the iGA.
Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, iGA Chief Executive, highlighted the importance of the training program, emphasizing its alignment with the government vision and iGA's commitment to implementing directives by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information Technology and Communication (MCICT). The program aims to empower Bahraini talent with AI skills to prepare specialists capable of improving government services through innovation.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al Ansari, University of Bahrain President; Dr. Hessa Al Junaid, University of Bahrain Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Professor Mansoor Alaali, President of Ahlia University.
Al Qaed also noted that the AI Talent Program offers hands-on training with AI and digital transformation experts, focusing on teamwork, programming, and the development of AI prototypes for areas related to government needs. The students will work in multiple teams to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and their projects will be documented to support implementing impactful solutions.
Al Qaed has extended his appreciation to the University of Bahrain, Ahlia University, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for their strategic partnerships. He stressed that collaboration between academia and the government is essential to preparing skilled talent capable of meeting digital age challenges. He thanked AWS for partnering with the iGA to train the first batch, enhancing training quality, and supporting student development, in line with Bahrain's Vision 2030 towards an advanced eGovernment.
iGA Director of Innovation and Advanced Technologies, Latifa Al Abbasi stated that the AI Talent Program bridges academic learning with market needs by combining graduation projects, practical training, and optional courses as selected by each university. She noted that the iGA aims to empower students to deliver innovative solutions for government processes and affirmed that investing in youth supports Bahrain's future and helps build a knowledge and innovation-based economy.
The program's key anticipated outcomes include preparing students for future jobs through comprehensive academic and professional experience, developing innovative government solutions, enhancing AI and programming skills, and providing professional guidance to support their career growth.

Bahrain and UK sign Second Strategic Investment and Collaboration Partnership (SIP2)
In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and as part of HRH's official visit to the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom signed the Second Strategic Investment and Collaboration Partnership (SIP2). The agreement was signed by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, on behalf of Bahrain, and Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer, on behalf of the United Kingdom. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa emphasised the strength of the longstanding relations between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, and the steady progress across various domains. He highlighted the mutual commitment to advancing cooperation, particularly in finance and economy. He noted that the SIP2 will support economic growth and job creation in both countries, particularly in shared priority sectors such as financial services, technology, industry, and decarbonisation efforts. As part of the partnership, the Bahraini private sector will invest £2 billion in the United Kingdom to support projects that contribute to carbon reduction and sustainable development. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa highlighted that the agreement marks a new milestone in economic cooperation between the two countries. It also aligns with Bahrain's efforts to enhance a dynamic and attractive investment environment and boost the competitiveness of its national economy. He further noted that the UK's accession to the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA), following an invitation from Bahrain and the United States, will reinforce economic and strategic ties and create new opportunities that benefit both countries and their peoples. Tamkeen elevates Bahrainis at Sarens Nass
TDT | Manama At a company best known for lifting superstructures, it is Tamkeen that has quietly raised something more enduring. By investing in local talent, it has helped turn a crane and transport giant into a national workforce success story, where nearly 80 percent of employees are now Bahraini. Tamkeen, Bahrain's Labour Fund, announced its support for the employment and career development of 36 Bahrainis at Sarens Nass Middle East. The support is part of its 2025 strategy to enhance the presence of Bahrainis in the private sector and equip them with skills for long-term career advancement. Strategic collaboration Since 2017, Tamkeen has collaborated with Sarens Nass Middle East to build up a locally rooted team in one of the region's most technically demanding sectors. The company, a joint venture between Bahrain's Nass Group and Belgium-based Sarens NV, provides heavy lifting, crane services, and specialised transport solutions across the GCC. 'We are proud to support Bahraini companies that prioritise the employment and professional growth of local talent,' said Khalid Al Bayat, Chief Growth Officer at Tamkeen. 'Sarens Nass has consistently demonstrated its commitment by utilising our programmes to hire, train, and reward Bahraini employees.' Al Bayat added that Tamkeen would continue to partner with firms that promote sustainable employment pathways, enabling Bahrainis to move into leadership roles and become the first choice for employers. Skills in focus Regional Director Al Hanoof Nass noted that Tamkeen's programmes are fully aligned with Sarens Nass's own strategic vision. 'We have actively benefitted from Tamkeen's programmes to train and qualify Bahraini talent. Today we are proud to report that 78 percent of our workforce is comprised of Bahraini nationals,' she said. Nass explained that the company places a strong emphasis on upskilling, especially in technical areas that support industrial growth and match emerging market demands.
