‘Lofty words, little action': Telangana BJP takes aim at Revanth govt.'s performance over unfulfilled promises

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy either step down or delegate leadership to someone within the Congress who is capable of fulfilling pre-poll promises made to the people of Telangana. The BJP argued that voters had chosen the Congress based on its guarantees, many of which are now being abandoned.
On Tuesday, BJP chief spokesperson N.V. Subash said the CM's repeated claims of financial strain expose his inability to govern effectively. 'Before the elections, Mr. Reddy claimed that his party had economic experts who would guide the State out of financial trouble. Where are those experts now? Why does the Chief Minister keep saying there is no money to implement key schemes like Mahalakshmi or Rythu Bharosa,' he asked.
Mr.Subash added that blaming the previous Bharat Rashtra Samiti government and former Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao for unpaid bills and accumulating debt is merely an 'excuse' to mask the Congress government's 'non-performance'. 'If they were not ready with a plan, why did they make such lofty promises in the first place,' he questioned.
In a separate press conference, Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal Satyanarayana and ST Morcha president S.Kumar accused the Revanth Reddy-led government of betraying every section of society. Except for the free bus travel for women, they pointed out, none of the Congress' pre-election guarantees have been implemented so far.
They questioned the government's silence on key promises such as enhanced financial assistance to farmers, including tenant farmers, monthly stipends for the unemployed, distribution of scooters to girl students, and the release of a job calendar for youth.
The leaders also criticised the sluggish pace of the Indiramma housing scheme for the weaker sections and the lack of clarity on issuing new ration cards. They demanded that pending payments under the Aarogyasri health scheme be cleared immediately. Given these widespread failures, they said, the government lacks the moral authority to face the public in the upcoming local body elections.
The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a protest on Tuesday in front of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education, demanding that engineering admissions be conducted strictly based on merit and rank, without any form of donation. Led by BJYM president S. Mahender, the protesters urged the government to take strict action against private colleges that flout admission norms. They also called for the immediate implementation of the fee reimbursement scheme.
