Titans CB L'Jarius Sneed Hit With Dreaded Label Ahead of 2025 Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Tennessee Titans mortgaged a bit of their future when they traded for Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L'Jarius Sneed last offseason. Not only did the Titans give up a third-round pick in the process, but they gave him $44 million guaranteed on a four-year deal worth up to $76.4 million.

Unfortunately, Sneed played just five games for Tennessee last season after suffering an injury. He had zero interceptions or pass deflections in those five contests despite recording 10 interceptions and 40 passes defended in four years with the Chiefs.
Head coach Brian Callahan has grown increasingly frustrated with Sneed as he is yet to return to the Titans' offseason program after being placed on the injured reserve last November.

On Thursday, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox released a list of the 10 worst contracts heading into the 2025 NFL season. Sneed's deal came in at No. 9.
"It was odd to see Tennessee immediately give a 27-year-old corner who had never been to a Pro Bowl a deal worth $19.1 million annually—which has him as the league's 11th-highest-paid cornerback a year later," Knox wrote. "If Sneed is unable to bounce back this season, Tennessee can cut him in 2026 and save $11.9 million in cap space, though it would have to eat $20.1 million in dead money to do so."

Callahan spoke about this matter on Tuesday when he addressed the media after the Titans' mandatory minicamp practice. He expressed his current view on Sneed and how he still has plenty to prove to the coaching staff in Tennessee.
"There's a track record of success as well from what he has been as a player. But he's also gotta prove that here too," Callahan said. "He hasn't done that yet for us. ... We're waiting for him to show us the player that he's been. He hasn't reached that level of play for us, so we're waiting for that opportunity to occur."
Sneed was a pivotal part of two Super Bowl runs for Kansas City, but if he cannot get back on track with the Titans, this will be another failed roster move made by former general manager Ran Carthon that new general manager Mike Borgonzi has to clean up.

Jets' Mason Taylor Earmarked For Pro Bowl Career Predicts Insider

Jets' Mason Taylor Earmarked For Pro Bowl Career Predicts Insider originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Jets offense under Tanner Engstrand will be an interesting watch with Justin Fields, Garrett Wilson, and Breece Hall as the "big" trio. Advertisement But one knock on the offense since the beginning of Aaron Glenn's tenure has been the lack of weapons for Fields outside of Wilson. Enter tight end Mason Taylor, who was drafted in the second round and is expected to develop into one of Fields' trusted targets. Granted, that is providing he can show that he can be that during training camp, with Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt seen as his competition. But for Fox Sports' Rob Rang, in naming a rookie who could be a franchise star for all 32 teams, in New York's case, it is Taylor, with a resemblance to two-time Pro Bowler Mickey Shuler. "Perhaps some of the reason why the Jets have struggled developing a young quarterback in recent years is their lack of a "security blanket" at tight end," Rang writes. "Taylor has some of the surest hands of any pass-catcher in this class, providing an immediate boost to a franchise that hasn't produced a Pro Bowler at TE since Mickey Shuler … in 1988." Mason Taylor And The JetsBy Tony Fisher Shuler played 12 years with the Jets and totaled 4,819 yards and 37 touchdowns, so that is the bar Taylor has to reach. Two Pro Bowl selections in 1986 and 1988, Shuler was quite the weapon. Advertisement Now, it is up to Taylor to try to emulate that. Of course, we don't want to put too much on his plate, but Mason has all the tools to develop into a security blanket for Fields, and based on the rest of New York's weapons outside of Wilson, Justin might need it. Is there a Pro Bowl in Taylor's career? It sure would be nice. The former UConn star dropped a team-high 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting, to go along with two rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one triple in 37 minutes of action. After the game, the WNBA took to social media to share its reaction to Bueckers' big night. WNBA Reveals Historic Rookie News After Wings-Mystics Games

WNBA Reveals Historic Rookie News After Wings-Mystics Games originally appeared on Athlon Sports. All eyes were on Paige Bueckers on Sunday as the Dallas Wings took on the Washington Mystics with a mission to secure their third straight win. Advertisement However, despite a formidable effort from Dallas, it was still Washington that came out on top for a hard-fought 91-88 home win in what turned out to be a thrilling affair. Bueckers did all she could for the Wings, finishing with 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting, nine rebounds and seven assists. The former UCOnn star also knocked down one of the biggest shots of the night by draining a clutch three-pointer with 11.0 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. In the end, however, the Mystics were able to hold their opponents off to improve to 6-8 on the season. Citron dropped a career-high 27 points on 9-of-13 from the field, 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals, a block and four triples in the win. Advertisement After the game, the WNBA took to social media to announce Citron's historic milestone in her career performance. "With 27 PTS and 11 REB today, Sonia Citron became the first rookie in @WashMystics franchise history to tally 25+ PTS and 10+ REB in a single game!" the league posted on X. It was Citron who came out on top of the rookie battle in this one as the 6-foot-1 guard proved that she wasn't going to back down against Bueckers. This resulted in the No. 3 overall pick leading Washington to its sixth win of the season. The Mystics are just 0.5 games outside the playoff picture right now and are looking to make some noise toward the midway point of the campaign.
