Two arrested for circulating explicit pictures of woman online
KENDRAPARA: Police on Tuesday arrested two persons on charges of circulating explicit pictures of a 24-year-old woman on social media platforms.
The accused were identified as Ranjan Biswal (28) of Patrapada village under Mahakalapada police limits and Jagannath Sethi, an attendant at a hospital.
According to police, Biswal was in a relationship with the victim since over six months. The incident came to light when the victim, a nurse in a government hospital in Kendrapara, filed a complaint with the police stating that Biswal had sexually exploited her for over six months under the false pretext of marriage.
She stated that Biswal clicked her explicit pictures and videos on his phone and recently shared those on social media after she ended the relationship.
Kendrapara IIC Dilip Sahoo said, 'Basing on the victim's complaint, we arrested Biswal. He confessed to the crime and revealed Sethi's involvement in the incident. Subsequently, we Sethi as well.'
They were booked under multiple sections of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act and section 356 (printing or engraving matter known to be derogatory) of BNS.
Besides, Biswal was booked under Section 60 of the BNS (engaging in sexual intercourse with a woman based on a false promise to marry). Further investigation is underway, Sahoo added.

Sharan A, a 35-year-old employee with IndiGo Airlines, has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, against three senior colleagues, including a flight captain, for alleged caste-based verbal abuse and discrimination. The incident allegedly occurred during a meeting at IndiGo's office in Gurugram's Emaar Capital Tower 2 on 28 April 2025. These statements, Sharan alleges, were made with the intent to degrade his dignity and undermine his professional standing. 'The remarks were not just personal insults but deliberate attacks on my caste, meant to humiliate me in front of colleagues,' Sharan wrote in his complaint. The complainant further alleges ongoing harassment at IndiGo, including being forced to undergo corrective training without justification, unauthorised salary cuts, arbitrary sick leave deductions, revocation of staff travel privileges, and issuance of a warning letter without evidence. 'These actions were designed to pressure me into resigning,' Sharan told the police, adding that the lack of action from IndiGo's leadership exacerbated his mental distress. Sharan alleged he first approached IndiGo's internal mechanisms, lodging complaints with the CEO and Ethics Committee, but received no resolution. After giving the accused seven days to apologise, he sought assistance from a lawyer and the SC/ST Cell, eventually filing a complaint with Bengaluru's Sampigehalli police station on 21 May 2025. The Zero FIR, registered under Sections 3(1)(r) and 3(1)(s) of the SC/ST (PoA) Act and Sections 3(5), 351(2), and 352 of the BNS, was transferred to Gurugram's DLF Phase-1 police station in view of the location of the incident. A police spokesperson told ThePrint on Monday that the accused, all senior employees at IndiGo, will be summoned for questioning on 24 June 2025. 'We have registered the case and initiated an investigation. The accused will be called to join the probe, and further action will be taken as per law,' he said. The FIR invokes serious charges, including intentional insult and intimidation to humiliate a Scheduled Caste member (Section 3(1)(r)), caste-based abuse (Section 3(1)(s)), criminal conspiracy (Section 3(5)), criminal intimidation (Section 351(2)), and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace (Section 352). If convicted, the accused could face up to seven years imprisonment under the SC/ST Act, with no anticipatory bail provision. ThePrint reached out to Dey, Sahani and Patil for their comments on the allegations. Dey and Patil responded to ThePrint's WhatsApp message, saying only their corporate communication head Rashmi Soni was authorised to speak on this issue. When contacted, Soni said Indigo Airlines has issued a media statement on this issue though they have not received any FIR so far. The statement says: 'IndiGo upholds a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of discrimination, harassment, or bias and remains firmly committed to being an inclusive and respectful workplace. IndiGo strongly refutes these baseless claims and stands by its values of fairness, integrity, and accountability and will extend its support to the law enforcement agencies as required.' SC declines urgent listing for clarification plea by Bhima Koregaon accused Hany Babu
New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday refused to grant an urgent hearing to a plea filed by former Delhi University professor Hany Babu, an accused in the Bhima Koregaon case, seeking a clarification that he could approach the High Court for bail after withdrawing his earlier plea in the top court. A vacation bench comprising justices KV Viswanathan and NK Singh directed that the matter be listed after the court reopens following the summer break, and declined to entertain the application during the limited working days of the vacation. During the mentioning, the counsel for Babu argued that several co-accused in the case had been granted bail by the Supreme Court either on merits or due to prolonged incarceration. The application was filed seeking a clarification following a May 2 observation by the Bombay High Court, which stated that Babu should seek clarity from the Supreme Court about his liberty to approach the High Court for bail after withdrawing his special leave petition. Justice Viswanathan questioned the delay in filing the application. 'The order was passed on May 2. The court was fully functional till May 23. Why was the application not moved earlier?' he asked. In response, the counsel submitted that obtaining certified copies of the court's orders took time. However, Justice Viswanathan remarked, 'Even in urgent matters, we have filed and got cases listed without certified copies.' Srikanth arrested after medical tests show narcotic drug use, incriminating transaction worth ₹4 lakh uncovered: Report
Tamil-Telugu actor Srikanth, aka Sriram, has been arrested by the police in Chennai in connection with a drugs case. According to a News18 report, the actor was arrested after medical tests came back positive for narcotic use and incriminating transactions were found on his mobile phone. Tamil-Telugu actor Srikanth was taken in for questioning by the police earlier on Monday. Srikanth was taken in for questioning in a drugs case by the Chennai police on Monday morning, and the report states that he has now been arrested. The actor had allegedly purchased cocaine at ₹ 12,000 per gram around 40 times. The police investigation revealed that the actor used his Google Pay to pay ₹ 4.72 lakh while purchasing it. Further, a blood test confirmed use of the narcotic drug, as per the report. The police have now taken him into custody, and the actor has yet to release a statement. A former AIADMK IT wing member, Prasad, was arrested after a brawl at a pub in Nungambakkam for allegedly supplying and trafficking drugs. The police brought in Srikanth after Prasad alleged that he had sold cocaine to the actor. Chennai police's Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) reportedly questioned the actor, and tests were done at the government hospital. After the tests came back positive and incriminating transactions were uncovered, Srikanth was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Another individual, called Pradeep, also reportedly pointed fingers at both Prasad and Srikanth, alleging that he had seen the actor using drugs during parties in clubs and that Prasad had given them to him.
