Ravens Coach Reacts to Star QB Acting Debut

Yahoo11-05-2025

Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson made his acting debut on Friday, appearing in an episode of "Power Book III: Raising Kanan" on Starz.
The former Louisville Cardinals quarterback won the Heisman Trophy before being drafted by the Ravens with the final pick of the first round in 2018. While he's had a measure of success with his college career, he could be in store for an acting career when he hangs up his cleats - whenever that may be.

Jackson won the Heisman Trophy during his senior season at Louisville, then notched two NFL MVP honors as a member of the Ravens.
Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh revealed ahead of the episode that he was looking forward to it, and saw a familiar look on Jackson's face in the preview.
"I am looking forward to it," Harbaugh told reporters. "You know, that facial expression in that clip, I've seen that look before. He's looked at me that way a couple times, it's a tough look right there. He's got the face of an actor, man.
"We just don't need him to get too excited about the acting too early, let's finish the football first. But I know he feels that way."

After the experience, Jackson gave credit to all the actors and actresses who do that on a full-time basis.
"I tip my hats off to those actors and actresses because man, that's a different type of world,'' he said. "Not just football — putting on pads and going out there and doing something physical — you got to really memorize and articulate your words and do something this way just to make the scene much better. A lot goes into it, so I tip my hats off."

Red Sox Predicted to Replace Jarren Duran With Power Bat After Trade Rumors

Red Sox Predicted to Replace Jarren Duran With Power Bat After Trade Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Trade rumors have been flying about Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran. They have only ramped up since Rafael Devers was dealt to the San Francisco Giant, as the organization now appears to be heading towards a youth movement at the MLB Trade Deadline. Advertisement According to Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo, the Red Sox may have their replacement for Duran waiting in the draft at the 15th overall spot. That player? Auburn University's Ike Irish. Irish is a powerful left-handed bat who has proven ability at the plate against top-tier collegiate pitching in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He stands 6'2", weighing 201 lbs. The junior out of Hudsonville, Michigan is the highest projected outfielder and catcher among both high school and collegiate prospects in Mayo and Callis' mock draft. "Boston can stick Irish in the outfield and let his athleticism and bat play," Callis and Mayo wrote. Auburn Tigers' Ike Irish (18) celebrates after hitting a double against the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils during the NCAA Regional Baseball Tournament at Plainsman Park in Auburn, Ala., on Friday May 30, Welsh / Advertiser / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images With 24 doubles in his freshman year, 14 home runs in his sophomore season and then 19 home runs in his junior campaign, Irish has the power and an approach at the plate that should translate well to the professional level. Advertisement His career batting average is .350, with a .435 on-base percentage. In 2024 he slugged a monster .710, with progression towards that number after each of his first two seasons. currently has Irish ranked as the 21st overall prospect in the draft, but once the College World Series concludes the rankings could be updated. The Red Sox could use a more polished bat out of the draft, and the college prospect could fill a need at a corner outfield position. The 2025 MLB Draft is being held on July 13 and 14. Sauce Gardner Speaks Out On Jets' Contract Talks

Sauce Gardner Speaks Out On Jets' Contract Talks originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- It is common for players eligible for a long-term extension with their team to hold out of practice until a deal is reached. Advertisement That hasn't happened with the New York Jets and their young studs, though. All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner and wide receiver Garrett Wilson are eligible for long-term extensions this season. Both are key building blocks for the young Jets under head coach Aaron Glenn. Both were in attendance throughout offseason workouts. While stars around the league, such as Washington's Terry McLaurin, Cincinnati's Trey Hendrickson, and Pittsburgh's T.J. Watt, were all absent from mandatory minicamp, the Jets had their young stars in attendance. There was a reason for that, according to Gardner. "I want to win, I want to change the organization, and I want to be a part of changing the organization," Gardner said on Thursday. Advertisement New York has navigated this offseason with as few distractions as possible. This has allowed them to operate "in the shadows," as Glenn has previously coined it. The next step, though, is locking down their young talent. Both Gardner and Wilson sent a clear message with perfect attendance this offseason. They do not want to be distractions to the team; they just want to be paid their worth and be a part of the changing culture Glenn wants to build. By participating in offseason workouts, the two young stars have essentially operated in good faith that a deal will eventually be made this offseason. And it certainly sounds like that is going to happen.
