Bills vs. Lamar's Ravens All About MVP ‘Vengeance'

Bills vs. Lamar's Ravens All About MVP 'Vengeance' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When Lamar Jackson walked off the field in Orchard Park last January, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback knew he left it all on the field. Advertisement In the Buffalo Bills' 27-25 playoff victory over the Ravens, Jackson combined for close to 300 yards and two touchdowns. However … Reliable tight end Mark Andrews dropped a potential game-tying two-point conversion throw from Jackson. And the highlights of the work Jackson did to mount the failed comeback mattered not. With that loss came further scrutiny. Jackson has failed to produce consistent playoff success, and to many of the NFL critics. his legacy has taken a hit. Even with two MVP awards. Buffalo's victory has had a lasting impact on Jackson this offseason, so much so that the scrambling star is looking for revenge in 2025. Advertisement "We're going to bounce back," Jackson said after Tuesday's minicamp practice via Jamison Hensley of ESPN. "And when we come back, I feel like we're going to have vengeance on our mind." Buffalo and Baltimore will face off on Sunday Night Football in Week 1. At the top of the storylines will be the last two MVPs competing against each other. Jackson won the award in 2023, while Josh Allen won it in 2024. If Jackson can find a way to knock off the Bills, it will be a good step in Baltimore's direction to prove the team has a Super Bowl-caliber roster. It's another chance for the Bills to widen the gap between them and other top teams in the conference. … And for vengeance. Colton Cowser's 3-run HR sparks O's to win over Rays

June 20 - Charlie Morton threw six quality innings and Colton Cowser hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the sixth inning to propel the visiting Baltimore Orioles to a 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. Morton (4-7) improved to 3-0 in June, allowing just one earned run on six hits while striking out seven for the Orioles, who split the four-game series with the Rays. Baltimore closer Felix Bautista struck out a pair in a perfect ninth to secure his 15th save in 16 tries. Drew Rasmussen (6-5) allowed two runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings, striking out five and walking three. Danny Jansen's RBI single in the third accounted for all of the Rays' offense, as the club has dropped two of three entering its weekend series against the MLB-best Detroit Tigers. After a 10-minute rain delay preceded the game, Tampa Bay struck first in the bottom of the third as Jose Caballero was hit by a pitch, then stole his MLB-leading 28 base of the year, before advancing to third and scoring on Jansen's single to left. Baltimore got the run back in the fourth, as Ryan O'Hearn's two-out single scored Gunnar Henderson, who was hit by a pitch. Following Henderson's leadoff single in the sixth and Jordan Westburg's strikeout, Rasmussen was relieved by Edwin Uceta, who retired O'Hearn and walked Ramon Laureano before Cowser blasted a three-run homer - his sixth of the season - to give the Orioles a 4-1 edge. A lengthy delay ensued in the top of the seventh, as Baltimore's Adley Rutschman fouled off reliever Connor Seabold's pitch into the Tampa Bay dugout, where Rays pitcher Hunter Bigge was struck in the face. As a stretcher took Bigge off the field, the 27-year-old was able to give a thumbs-up to the home crowd. Seranthony Domiguez replaced Morton in the bottom of the seventh, allowing Junior Caminero's walk and Jake Mangum's single, but struck out Caballero and Kameron Misner before getting Jansen to ground out to escape the jam. Tampa Bay threatened again in the eighth, with Gregory Soto walking Josh Lowe and yielding a one-out single to Yandy Diaz. After Soto struck out Christopher Morel, Bryan Baker entered for the Orioles, walking Caminero before getting Mangum to fly out. --Field Level Media

Are the 2025 Baltimore Ravens the most talented team in franchise history?

Is this year's Baltimore Ravens roster their most talented in franchise history? Sure, on paper, this team appears loaded. However, former Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith said during a taping of WJZ's Purple Playbook to pump the brakes. "Let's not get carried away," Smith told WJZ Sports Anchor Alex Glaze. "The Ravens defense, historically, people think of Baltimore, regardless of how great (quarterback) Lamar Jackson is, as a defensive team. You have Ray Lewis and Ed Reed." SOUND OFF: As currently constructed on paper is this the most talented #Ravens team in franchise history? If not, who are you going with? #RavensFlock @wjz @TorreySmithWR — WJZ Sports (@WJZ13sports) June 19, 2025 Since football returned to Baltimore 30 years ago, the Ravens have won the Super Bowl twice -- claiming the 2000 championship and the 2012 championship. The Super Bowl-winning Ravens never had a quarterback like Jackson, who has won two league MVPs. However, those defenses were historically great. "These guys (currently) are great players, ain't no way I'm going to say that (this is the most talented)," Smith said. "Forget playing for the Ravens, the kid in me playing on Madden with that 2000 defense, there's no way I could say that." A Hall of Fame past Those Baltimore Super Bowl champions had eventual Hall of Famers Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Jonathan Ogden, Shannon Sharpe, and Rod Woodson, as well as other key contributors. The list continues with Ray Rice, Joe Flacco, Marshal Yanda, Terrell Suggs, Jacoby Jones, Jamal Lewis, and Tony Siragusa. 11 All-Pro players on the Ravens roster The 2025 Baltimore Ravens have 11 players who have been named to the NFL All-Pro Team. Cornerback Jaire Alexander, who just signed with the Ravens, is the latest to join the roster. There are five former All-Pro performers on defense -- Alexander, linebacker Roquan Smith, defensive end Nnamdi Madubuike, cornerback Marlon Humphrey, and safety Kyle Hamilton. Additionally, there are six on offense who have won All-Pro accolades, including quarterback Lamar Jackson, running back Derrick Henry, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, fullback Patrick Ricard, tight end Mark Andrews, and offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley. "This is an extremely talented group, and the defense can be up there with anyone," Smith said. "The only weakness right now is the pass rush. It's not for a lack of talent, it's just for the lack of execution in the moment." "Super Bowl or bust" Torrey Smith credits the Baltimore Ravens for always fielding a competitive team. Since 1996, the Ravens have two Super Bowl championships, two AFC titles, eight division championships, and 16 playoff appearances. In 2023, the Ravens lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 17-10 in the AFC Championship Game, and in 2024, they lost to the Buffalo Bills 27-25 in the divisional round of the playoffs. "Overall, this team will always give you a chance to win the Super Bowl," Smith said. "This is a Super Bowl-caliber defense, on paper and going into the season." And with the roster the way it is currently constructed, Smith believes a third Super Bowl championship will be in Baltimore. "It's always Super Bowl or bust," Smith said.

Ravens Derrick Henry Reveals Favorite Cheat Meal on 'Rich Eisen Show' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Derrick Henry is preparing to enter season No. 10 in the NFL. Henry will head into year No. 2 with the Baltimore Ravens, as the 31-year-old running back appears as motivated as ever to play at a high level and help lead his team to a Super Bowl. Advertisement After spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Tennessee Titans, Henry took his talents to Baltimore. In his first season sharing a backfield with quarterback, Lamar Jackson, Henry remained a workhorse, carrying the ball more than 300 times for the fourth time in his career (325). Henry's 325 rushing attempts brought him 1,921 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. The yards trailed only Saquon Barkley (2,005) and the TDs were tied for the lead league with Jahmyr Gibbs and James Cook. As he gets further from his thirtieth birthday, Henry's offseason training regimen has become a hot topic of conversation. Reportedly, Henry spends approximately $240 thousand per year on body maintenance. While he appears to treat his body like a sacred temple, even "King Henry" enjoys the occasional cheat meal. Advertisement On Wednesday, during an appearance on the "Rich Eisen Show", Henry revealed his favorite cheat meal. "I'm a breakfast person, so I like steak, eggs, and potatoes. I like French toast or even a waffle," Henry said. Rich Eisen attempted to dig deeper, asking if Henry enjoys a sugary cereal or a slice of pizza as part of his cheat meal. "No cereal. I don't eat cereal. Pizza, every once and a while, but I'm not a big pizza person," Henry said. Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry (22).Troy Taormina-Imagn Images Henry ranks No. 19 all-time in rushing yards and is the active rushing leader with 11,423 yards. He sits just 15 rushing yards behind Steven Jackson for No. 18 all-time. Advertisement He's also tied with Jim Brown for No. 6 all-time in rushing TDs (106). He sits just four TDs behind Walter Payton at No. 5. Henry's march toward history will begin during the Ravens Week 1 matchup on Sept. 7 against the Buffalo Bills.
