Air India plane crash: 184 DNA matches confirmed, says Gujarat Home Minister
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Wednesday announced that 184 DNA samples have been matched so far after the tragic London-bound Air India plane crash.
In a post on the social media platform X, Sanghavi wrote, "Air India crash update: As of 8 am, 184 DNA have been matched."
DNA testing is being conducted by forensic teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU).
Earlier on Tuesday, Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Superintendent Rakesh Joshi reported that a total of 163 DNA samples have been matched.
During a press conference, Joshi provided a detailed account of the count, noting that out of the remaining 39 of the 163 matched victims, mortal remains of 21 deceased will be handed over to their families by Wednesday morning and remains of two deceased are in the process of being handed over.
He stated that more than 12 families were waiting for the results, and the handing over of four dead bodies is on hold due to some legal issues.
"Till 5.45 pm today, 163 DNA samples have matched. Following which, the mortal remains of 124 deceased have been handed over to their families... Out of the remaining 39, the mortal remains of 21 deceased will be handed over to their families by morning. Mortal remains of two deceased are in the process of being handed over. 12 families are waiting for the results... Handing over of four dead bodies is on hold due to some legal issues," Joshi stated.
He further stated that on the day of the crash, 71 injured individuals were admitted to the Civil Hospital, with 42 subsequently discharged and currently, nine patients remain admitted. At the same time, two succumbed to their injuries after admission."On the day of the crash, 71 injured people were admitted to the Civil Hospital. Out of them, 42 have been discharged. As of now, nine patients are admitted. Two people had passed away after they were admitted," he added.
The crash occurred on June 12, when a London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a hostel complex of BJ Medical College in the Meghani Nagar area of Gujarat's Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, The tragedy claimed 241 lives out of 242 onboard, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

Air India plane crash: 144 DNA samples have been matched, says Gujarat Home Minister
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi confirmed that the DNA samples of 144 victims in the Air India plane crash has been successfully matched as of 12 pm on Tuesday. In a post on X, Sanghavi said, "Air India crash update: As of 12 pm, 144 DNA samples have been matched." The testing was being done by teams from the FSL and National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU). Earlier on Monday, Sanghavi confirmed that DNA samples of 125 victims in the Air India plane crash had been successfully matched, and families of 124 deceased had been contacted. The mortal remains of 83 victims were handed over to their families. The minister visited the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar, where DNA testing of the deceased was being conducted. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Superintendent Rakesh Joshi said on Tuesday that the number of BJ Medical College students who died because of the Air India crash remains at four. Speaking to the mediapersons, Rakesh Joshi said,"...The death toll of BJ Medical College students stands at 4. It has not gone up." He also said that Vishwas, the only survivor from the crash, is in stable condition and slowly improving. "Vishwas's (the lone survivor of the flight crash) condition is stable and improving gradually," Joshi said. Kumar, a British national of Indian origin, was seated in row 11 at the left window seat in the flight's economy class section that's positioned right behind an emergency exit. The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft crashed into a hostel complex shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, killing 241 passengers and crew, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. The last rites of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani were performed with full state honours on Monday in Rajkot. The former CM, who lost his life in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, was cremated by his son Rushabh Rupani.

IndiGo flight from Muscat makes emergency landing at Nagpur Airport after bomb threat
Nagpur: An IndiGo flight 6E 2706, which was travelling from Muscat to Delhi with a layover at Kochi, made an emergency landing at Nagpur airport on Tuesday after a bomb threat was received. According to Lohit Matani, DCP Nagpur, all passengers have been safely deboarded, and an investigation is currently underway. Preliminary checks have not found anything suspicious so far, officials said. Further investigation into the incident is underway. Similarly, on Monday, officials informed that Lufthansa flight LH752, which was flying from Frankfurt to Hyderabad, was forced to return to Germany after a bomb threat was received. A committee has been formed to assess the threat as per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). According to official sources, the Hyderabad-bound Lufthansa flight took off from Frankfurt on June 15 and was supposed to reach its destination early this morning. However, after an email was received at Hyderabad airport about targeting the flight with a bomb at 6:01 PM on June 15, out of an abundance of caution, the flight was advised to return. "A bomb threat assessment committee was formed, and all procedures were followed as per SOP. In the interest of safety, the airline was advised to divert back to the origin or the nearest suitable airport," said an official source. Earlier, Lufthansa airline told ANI, "We did not receive a permit to land in Hyderabad, and that's why the aircraft took a U-turn and returned." Meanwhile, a Lufthansa spokesperson said that the flight was diverted out of an abundance of caution, and that the passengers were provided accommodation as they departed for Hyderabad. "Out of an abundance of caution, Lufthansa flight LH752 from Frankfurt to Hyderabad returned to its point of departure after authorities were made aware of a bomb threat posted on social media," the spokesperson said, adding further, "The safety of our passengers and crew is Lufthansa's highest priority. Affected passengers were provided with accommodation in Frankfurt and will be continuing their journey to Hyderabad today." The Hyderabad airport said earlier that the flight was diverted as it had still not entered Indian airspace, as the threat was received. Further investigation into the incident is underway. In a similar incident on June 13, a Delhi-bound Air India flight coming from Thailand's Phuket received a bomb threat and made an emergency landing on the island, according to airport authorities. The Air India flight AI 379 took off from Phuket at 9.30 and was on its way to New Delhi before it was diverted.
