Amazon Prime Video quietly adds one of the 'best horror shows ever'

Metro13-05-2025

Amazon Prime Video viewers are urging everyone to binge-watch a horror TV series that 'deserved more attention.'
Three of the four seasons of Channel Zero are now available to stream on the streaming platform, free for subscribers.
An anthology series, the storylines for all the episodes are based on popular creepypastas (horror content posted on the internet).
Channel Zero's first season was based on cartoonist and performer Kris Straub's Candle Cove.
Starring Parks and Recreation's Paul Schneider and Killing Eve's Fiona Shaw, it centres on a child psychologist who returns to his hometown to determine if his brother's disappearance is connected to a bizarre children's television series.
The second season follows a young woman and her group of friends as they visit a house of horrors, only to find themselves questioning whether it is a tourist attraction or something more sinister.
Channel Zero's third season focuses on a young woman and her schizophrenic sister who move to a city haunted by a series of disappearances and, after suspecting that they may be connected to a baffling rumour, they must work together to discover what is preying on the city's residents.
On X, viewers have hailed Channel Zero as 'one of the best horror TV shows ever made.'
Among them is @soomuu_, who wrote: 'This Series is amazing. Channel Zero No-End House #AmyForsyth#ChannelZero.'
@HorrorAddictX said: 'It's time we acknowledged Channel Zero as one of the best horror TV shows ever made.'
Echoing their sentiment, @ZacBeThompson shared: 'So pumped for #ChannelZero's return tonight. The best horror show on television. Previous seasons have had sharp writing, incredible atmosphere and chilling visuals. Butcher's Block looks no different.'
@RHStavis commented: 'Like wtf is this?! Heartbreaking. #IYKYK #channelzero But also if you don't know, don't sleep on this incredible series..'
@cevangelista also added: 'CHANNEL ZERO, a horror series that deserved more attention.'
Channel Zero is not the only horror TV show to have gripped Amazon Prime Video users.
They are also 'hopelessly hooked' on Australian series Wolf Creek, which has flown under the radar since its initial release in 2016. More Trending
A spin-off of the movie of the same name, the show follows Eve (Lucy Fry), a 19-year-old American tourist in Australia, who is targeted by the crazed serial killer Mick Taylor (John Jarratt).
However, she survives his attack and embarks on a mission of revenge.
Both seasons of Wolf Creek, which initially aired on streamer Stan, are now available to binge-watch on Amazon Prime Video.
On Google, viewers have hailed the horror as 'phenomenal' but warned it was 'not for the faint-hearted.'

EastEnders hints at romance for George with Walford local - and it's not Cindy

George Knight (Colin Salmon) makes a new ally in EastEnders next week – could he already be moving on from wife Elaine (Harriet Thorpe)? Earlier this month, she was left furious after discovering her husband spent Christmas evening in the company of his ex-wife Sabrina. Her fury was intensified when he revealed that she'd tried to kiss him, and even more so when he turned to his other ex-wife, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), for a shoulder to cry on. Elaine contacted old mate Drew Peacock (Paul Clayton) for a pep talk. Having taken his words to heart, she decided to sleep with a man she'd just met named Stephen. Guilt-ridden, she couldn't keep quiet any longer and came clean to George. His attempts at making amends and apologising fell flat, as she wasn't willing to take half of the blame. Since then, Elaine has hit self destruct mode, allowing daughter Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) to run the pub single-handedly and splashing the cash on bottomless prosecco for her mates. To make matters worse, she handed over 5k to Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) to go on a singles cruise. In upcoming scenes, Linda is dismayed when Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) asks if she can host fiancé Patrick Trueman's (Rudolph Walker) 85th birthday party in the pub. She wonders whether she can manage, but Elaine ultimately overrules her doubts. With Linda left to hold the fort again, George can see she's struggling and jumps behind the bar to help out. Elaine is furious to see him getting into the swing of things and lashes out, therefore ruining any chance of them ever being civil again. Little does she realise, he's about to fight back. Bubala restaurant review: ‘The carrots nearly made me take a Covid test'

My wedding reception was held upstairs at the Ivy. Back then, there was only one Ivy: our favourite spot in London, where — in the pre-soft-play days, when our disposable income wasn't funnelled directly into Bluey Inc — we'd had our favourite, joyous, boozy dinners. It was the only possible venue. But now, with an Ivy on every high street, it's like announcing we got married at a Zizzi. And here, with slight regret, I present another cautionary tale of overexpansion. I love Bubala. It opened in Spitalfields in 2019, offering a vibrant take on Middle Eastern food that was delicious, quietly vegetarian and deeply hip — not that I'm in any position to judge hipness, but various beard-oil users have assured me that it was. Its firstborn arrived in Soho a few years later, and this sequel proved even better. It was The Godfather Part II, Thor: Ragnarok, Miley Cyrus. Bubala 3 is a 15-minute trek from King's Cross station, located in the sprawling techtropolis, presumably to vary the lunch options for Google and Facebook employees. The walk gave me plenty of time to hype up the food to my husband, J. By the end of my pitch, he was practically jogging there. We were welcomed in by a brilliant Kiwi manager, but it's not quite the restaurant I know — it's cool and airy rather than cosy, all concrete, exposed plaster and towering arched windows. It would be hard to say the place had much personality, as if it's ready to be turned into a Wagamama or Côte at a moment's notice. Inside Bubala REBECCA HOPE You have the option of a £33 per person mezze sharing menu or choosing, as we did, from the twenty or so à la carte dishes. We picked about half of them. The falafels were 10/10. Just the right amount of give on the outside and fluff on the inside, all served on a tahini so white, smooth and creamy it should have an SPF number. Bread and hummus were also spot-on. The laffa, a scorched flatbread threatening to become a naan, tore with a sublime stretchiness and was the perfect mode of transport to shovel in the glossy hummus, pimped up with nutty burnt butter. 'See?' I said to J. But, alas, man cannot live on chickpeas alone. Charred halloumi was squidgy and succulent, the antithesis of the squeaky vulcanised rubber found at every barbecue. In Soho, it comes topped with a phenomenal chamomile honey. Here it's been punished with half a jar of marmalade. Sickly and dissonant, it tasted as though a label had been misread — even Paddington would have scraped off the stuff. The spanakopita looked fantastic — a chimera of the Greek staple with Turkish borek pastry — but was polystyrene dry; the fist of sesame-miso chutney on the side delicious but ultimately unable to perform CPR on its neighbour. Leeks came doused in a Mexican-themed gratinated béchamel of jalapeños and sheep's cheese, with a tangy amba (mango pickle, to save you a google) reminding us we've got one foot in the Middle East. But the leeks were unforgivably tough. The thoughtfully provided utility knife wasn't up to the job — I think I'd have needed a power tool. I will forgive them for calling hash brown cubes 'latkes', but I can't forgive them for the potato being grey. The carrot main was so underflavoured it could have been a side for a Sunday roast — I almost took a Covid test. The button mushrooms on the pickle plate were overly soft, slightly redolent of a Travelodge breakfast. The basbousa dessert, a warm semolina cake with pineapple and coconut, had intricate flavours but was stone cold in the middle. Unforced error after unforced error that made me keep apologising to J. Carrots, feta and apricot Maybe these were all teething problems — the restaurant has only been open a month. ('Ask your server about our daily wine specials!' screamed a box on the menu. I asked a server, who asked another server, who told us there were no wine specials.) Maybe we caught them on an off day. Or maybe this is a moment for Bubala to take a beat, hopefully before branches start to take hold across the country like knotweed. Or Ivy. ★★★☆☆ 1 Cadence Court, Lewis Cubitt Park, London N1; Charlotte Ivers is away

Bruce Springsteen gives his opinion on Stephen Graham's portrayal of his father

Bruce Springsteen has commented on Stephen Graham's portrayal of his late father in the upcoming biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere. The film, based on Warren Zanes's acclaimed 2023 book Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska, chronicles the emotionally fraught creation of Springsteen's 1982 album Nebraska. Liverpool-born actor Stephen Graham, known for This Is England and Adolescence, takes on the role of Douglas Frederick 'Dutch' Springsteen, while The Bear star Jeremy Allen White plays a young Bruce at a career and personal crossroads. In a recent interview with The Times, Springsteen, 75, spoke sparingly about the project, which is set for an October theatrical release. But he didn't hold back his admiration for Graham's performance, which he experienced with a deep personal resonance. 'Watching Stephen portray my dad was a little otherworldly, and also quite touching,' he said. The music legend has been closely involved with the film, though he admitted stepping away from certain scenes during production due to their emotional intensity. Earlier this year, Graham revealed how moved he was to receive a text message from Springsteen after a private viewing of the film. In it, Springsteen reportedly wrote: 'Thank you so much. You know, my father passed away a while ago and I felt like I saw him today and thank you for giving me that memory.' The moment was deeply affecting for Graham, 51, who called the message 'beautiful' and referred to Springsteen as 'a working-class hero' and 'an icon to thousands, to millions.' Springsteen has also spoken about his on-set visits, praising Jeremy Allen White for his patience and professionalism during filming. More Trending 'Jeremy was very, very tolerant of me the days that I would appear on the set,' Springsteen told Rolling Stone earlier this month. 'I said to him, 'Look, anytime I'm in the way, just give me the look and I'm on my way home.'' He added with a laugh, 'It was just fun. It was enjoyable.' While Springsteen is keeping further details about the film under wraps for now, he is currently promoting Tracks II: The Lost Albums, a new compilation project set to accompany his decades-spanning discography, which includes 21 studio albums, over 300 songs, and 20 Grammy Awards. As anticipation builds for Deliver Me From Nowhere, it's clear that, for Springsteen, the project has already delivered something priceless. Got a story?
