Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler among WWE cuts in pre-SmackDown stunner
On Friday, WWE underwent its semi-regular spring cleaning, releasing some big names from the roster.
The company initiated a series of roster cuts that affected several main roster and NXT talents, marking the most eye-popping wave of releases so far this year — though it's not an uncommon occurrence shortly after WrestleMania, which concluded two weeks ago.
Among the most notable names let go from the main roster were mainstays Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler and Dakota Kai.
Additionally, Kayden Carter, Katana Chance, Cora Jade and all of Gallus, which includes Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey and Wolfgang.

Strowman is far and away the biggest name being let go from the company.
His second run now comes to an end after he re-joined the WWE three years ago.
Strowman is a former Universal Champion and Intercontinental Champion who was once on a meteoric rise to seemingly becoming one of WWE's biggest stars.
Baszler, a former NXT Women's Champion and two-time Women's Tag Team Champion, had been active on both Raw and SmackDown in recent years.

While Baszler never rose to true stardom on the main roster as she did previously, she is most known for her run on NXT as one of the company's biggest stars in the women's division, and, to this day, the former mixed martial artist held the NXT Women's Title for the most days in company history.
'No one can offer what I have to offer. Reality. Let the Galaxy burn,' Baszler posted on X in response to her release.

Kai was a member of Damage CTRL and was a tag team champion both on the main roster and in NXT.
Other names later surfaced, including Gigi Dolin, Oro Mensah and Riley Osborne of NXT.
Jade posted her email following news of her release, suggesting she'll be open for bookings.
Most released talent are subjected to a 90-day non-compete clause for main roster performers, and 30 days for NXT talent, as standard in WWE contracts.

Jack Betts has passed away at 96 years old. The actor starred on the soap opera 'One Life to Live' from 1979 to 1985, appearing in 20 episodes as Llanview Hospital's Dr. Ivan Kipling. But Betts didn't get the same credit as a certain fellow western star did. 'In the hotel next to mine was Clint Eastwood,' he recounted in a 2021 interview. 'He'd go up to his mountain and do his Western and I'd go up to my mountain and do my Western. But while his films had distribution all over the world, my films were distributed [everywhere] except Canada and America.' Advertisement Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Jade stated she believes she or former NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez could get Lee out of retirement. 'It has to be one of us,' Jade quipped. 'I know if I can't, Roxanne can. Between one of us, I think we can do it,' Jade said. 'Whether it's her or me, I don't know which one it's going to be, but remember that it's going to be one of us. To clarify, Jade is 'making a hopeful prediction.' Nothing is guaranteed, and Lee may never lace up her boots again. We will have to wait and see if it happens. Cora Jade was recently released by WWE after over four years with them. During her career, she was a one-time NXT Women's Tag Team Champion with Roxanne Perez. Advertisement Since being released, Jade has reverted back to her Elayna Black ring name. She is currently competing on the independent circuit. Will AJ Lee return to WWE? Currently, it does not appear Lee is going to come back to WWE anytime soon. The closest she has come to an in-ring return was filming wrestling scenes for Heels. She has ventured into other mediums since her retirement. Lee was featured in Sacramento, a new movie starring Michael Cera and Kristen Stewart. However, nothing is impossible. Her husband, CM Punk, did the unthinkable in 2023 and returned to WWE. He was away from the company and wrestling altogether for several years after his initial leave. Advertisement In between his WWE tenures, Punk tried his hand at UFC and also joined their biggest competitor, AEW. Punk was with AEW from 2021-23 before returning to WWE. So, never say never. However, with every passing year, it becomes increasingly unlikely she will ever return to the ring. Hopefully, Jade or Perez make it happen. This interaction was a nod to one of the most famous rivalries in NFL history. Brady may have seven Super Bowl victories under his belt, but it's worth noting that two of his three losses were against Manning and the New York Giants in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI.
