RM1 mil Hawana fund eases burden on media practitioners

Since its 2023 launch, the fund has aided 441 recipients nationwide with RM1.21 million disbursed 28 in 2023, 229 in 2024, and 184 as of June 17, 2025. In Sabah, 19 journalists and former media workers have benefited.
Advertisement Teo presented a contribution to Merdeka Daily News journalist Jee Cheng Yee, 35, who suffers from anemia following surgery during childbirth last year. She emphasised the fund, managed by BERNAMA, aims to relieve the burden of ill media workers and urged more media personnel to apply. Middle-aged man in Cambodia dies of H5N1 bird flu
PHNOM PENH (Bernama-Xinhua): A 52-year-old man from southeastern Cambodia's Svay Rieng province had died of H5N1 human avian influenza, becoming the fifth human death from the virus so far this year. "A laboratory result from the National Institute of Public Health showed on June 20 that the man was positive for H5N1 virus," the Ministry of Health said in a press statement on Saturday. Health authorities are looking into the source of the infection and are examining any suspected cases or people who have been in contact with the victim in order to prevent an outbreak in the community, it added. Gaza: 202 Bodies Brought To Hospitals In Last 48 Hours
ANKARA, June 21 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- At least 55,908 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's genocidal war since October 2023, the Health Ministry said on Saturday. Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported a ministry statement said that 202 bodies were brought to hospitals in the last 48 hours, while 1,037 people were injured, taking the number of injuries to 131,138 in the Israeli onslaught. 'Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,' it added.
