'I do not interfere', Anwar says on Najib's DNAA decision
Anwar on his way to lunch after Friday prayers in Puchong today. – Bernama photo PUCHONG (June 20): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim asserted that he had no involvement in the Kuala Lumpur High Court's decision to grant a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak over three money laundering charges involving RM27 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd. 'That is the judge's decision, and the Attorney General's. I do not interfere,' he said briefly when approached by reporters after performing Friday prayers at Masjid Kampung Seri Aman today. Earlier, Judge K Muniandy allowed the defence's application for a DNAA, citing the prosecution's lack of preparedness to proceed with trial proceedings, which have been marked by persistent postponements since 2019. The court was informed that the prosecution had yet to obtain the necessary documentary evidence. The delay, the judge noted, had denied the accused the right to a fair and timely resolution of the case. Malaysia, Russia Agree To Begin MoU Talks On AI Integration In Firefighting Operations
PUTRAJAYA, June 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Russia have agreed to begin talks on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering cooperation in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into firefighting operations, flight simulation technology and firefighter training. The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) said the decision was reached during a bilateral meeting between Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming and Russian Minister of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters, Colonel General Alexander Kurenkov, yesterday. In a statement today, KPKT said the meeting marked a significant step towards strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering strategic collaboration between Malaysia and Russia, particularly in the field of firefighting and rescue.

Almost 1,000 Schools Selected For MADANI School Programme
GENERAL PUTRAJAYA, June 20 (Bernama) -- Nearly 1,000 schools have been selected for the MADANI Adopted School Programme, implemented in collaboration with around 117 private companies, aimed at addressing the educational gap across the country. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said that the MADANI Adopted School initiative reflects the government's belief that quality education is a shared responsibility. "By combining the expertise of the government and private sectors, this programme aims to ensure that no student is left behind. "Initially, we only targeted 500 schools, but we see the commitment and feel it would be unfair if we do not invite the bodies (companies) that have long focused on our schools," she said during her speech at the launch of the MADANI Adopted Schools by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Fadhlina said that the organisations adopting the foster schools have committed to long-term cooperation focusing on five main areas, namely improving school infrastructure and facilities; enhancing academic programmes and student guidance; strengthening teacher training and development; providing financial assistance and scholarships; and developing students' character and skills. "Therefore, the focus is not only on one segment but more broadly, while the overall development of the school not only includes infrastructure development but also human development is given attention," she said. Meanwhile, according to a Ministry of Education (MOE) statement, through the MADANI Adopted School Programme, organisations with extensive resources are matched with schools that need support. The support received includes contributions from 32 private companies, 29 government-linked companies (GLCs) and government-linked investment companies (GLICs), 29 government agencies, and 27 companies owned by the Minister of Finance (Incorporated). The statement said that each organisation selects a foster school based on its capabilities and the specific needs of the school.

The food baskets were handed over by YSIJ chief executive officer Mohd Anizam Jamian to Kluang District Officer Azurawati Wahid and Simpang Renggam District Council president Mohd Fa'iz Salehon for distribution to the recipients. 'Each food basket contains essential items such as rice, sugar, flour, and cooking oil,' according to the post on the official Facebook page of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, King of Malaysia.
