Rory McIlroy's mega famous list of neighbours at his new Surrey mansion as he moves back to UK
Rory McIlroy is set to relocate to the UK with his wife and daughter after finally ending his major drought with his Masters win last month and the family are set to have a lengthy list of famous neighbours.
Fresh off his Masters triumph and achieving the career grand slam, Rory McIlroy is gearing up to move his family to London. The 36- year-old Irish man ended his long major drought last month by clinching the only major championship missing from his impressive resume, joining a select group of golfers who have won the career grand slam.
This marked a significant milestone for McIlroy, who celebrated the victory by returning to his hometown of Holywood in Northern Ireland to visit his parents. However, before landing in Belfast, he, his wife Erica Stoll, and their daughter Poppy made a brief pit stop in London in their private jet to check out the Surrey mansion they plan to call home.
For several years, McIlroy and his family have lived in a lavish residence in Jupiter, Florida, an area brimming with ultra-rich golfers, actors, and business tycoons. The sunny Florida weather undoubtedly suits McIlroy's golfing ambitions, as its climate and facilities allow him to practice year-round.
However, the five-time major winner has not hidden his and his wife's desire to relocate to the UK, having bought a property on the Wentworth Golf Club estate a few years ago, Belfast Live reports.
After reportedly splashing out over €10 million on refurbishments to the Surrey house, the McIlroys are now set to move in next month.
In doing so, they will join a lengthy roster of famous faces who have opted to live in an area renowned for its exclusivity.
In the elite circles of golf, McIlroy is set to rub shoulders with neighbours such as South African icon Ernie Els and ex-Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn.
Fellow Irishman Paul McGinley has digs in nearby Sunningdale, joined by another Ryder Cup veteran, Sam Torrance.
Justin Rose, whom McIlroy outplayed in a playoff to clinch the Masters, also calls this posh locale home.
Ex-Chelsea captain and keen golfer John Terry is situated near Wentworth, along with former England cricketer and fellow golf enthusiast Kevin Pietersen.
Previously, F1 legend Eddie Jordan and Ukrainian football star Andriy Shevchenko also had residences in the vicinity.
McIlroy's notable future neighbours will include Wentworth Estate resident Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, and Russian tycoon Petr Aven. Tullow Oil's founding father Aidan Heavey also stakes claim to a property within the estate.
The opulent Wentworth with its prime London access and proximity to international travel hubs has become a magnet for many diverse high-profile personalities.
Music legends like Elton John and Cliff Richard have at times owned properties here. The estate has even housed figures such as the former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, and television royalty Michael Parkinson.
However, the desire to stay in such affluent neighbourhoods isn't for all celebs, as singer Gary Numan shared with Uncut music magazine in 2019: "I had a big neo-Georgian house on Wentworth golf course, but I was convinced it was haunted.
"Some weird s*** had been going on – I'd come home and the house was in darkness when I was convinced I'd left the lights on.
"So one day, I made a point of turning on every single light in the house. I got back from the studio and – f*** me – the house was in total darkness."

Bradley overhauls Fleetwood on final hole to win Travelers Championship
The US Ryder Cup captain, Keegan Bradley, birdied the final hole of the Travelers Championship and soared past England's Tommy Fleetwood to win the tournament in a stunning finale in Cromwell, Connecticut. Bradley shot a two-under-par 68 for a four-round total of 15 under to win by one stroke over Fleetwood (72) and Russell Henley (69). Bradley, a native of New England and playing in what he considers his home tournament, thrilled the huge crowd on the final hole at TPC River Highlands by sinking a six-foot birdie putt. Fleetwood, who left an approach shot short, had just missed a par putt from inside seven feet for a two-shot swing. Fleetwood, who began the day with a three-shot lead, appeared to have recovered after a ragged opening stretch. Instead, Bradley won for the first time since last year's BMW Championship. Fleetwood has won seven times on the DP World Tour, but he is still without a victory in 159 PGA Tour events. The Englishman recorded three bogeys and a birdie across the first four holes on Sunday after registering only one bogey during the first three rounds. Fleetwood and Bradley were all square through nine holes, with Bradley's 64-foot putt on the ninth giving him a birdie. But Fleetwood birdies on the 11th and 13th gave him a three-shot advantage with four holes to play. When Bradley rolled in a 37-foot birdie putt on the 15th, he moved to two strokes back. The margin was one shot when Fleetwood bogeyed the 16th, and it stayed that way until the 18th.

Tommy Fleetwood denied first PGA Tour win on last hole at Travelers Championship
Tommy Fleetwood suffered a heart-breaking one-shot defeat at the final hole of the Travelers Championship in Connecticut as American Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley denied the Englishman a maiden PGA Tour victory. Fleetwood had been defending a three-shot lead following his flawless 63 on Saturday, sitting at 16 under par ahead of Bradley and Russell Henley. However, a couple of early bogeys threatened to derail his bid to end his record of the most top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour since 1983 without claiming a title. The 34-year-old, though, steadied himself around the turn to edge back ahead of Bradley with birdies at the 11th and 13th. Having found a path on the right of the 15th before going on to save par, Fleetwood looked to be on course once again – only to drop another shot at the 16th. Fleetwood then came up short of the green with his second shot on the 18th. Spurred on by a partisan home crowd, Bradley promptly sent his follow-up to within a few feet. Fleetwood's birdie attempt fell short just behind Bradley's marker, with the Englishman then missing his par putt, having to settle for a bogey and a two-over final round. The American – who could yet qualify as a playing captain at Bethpage Black in September – then nervelessly rolled in a birdie to finish at 15 under, sparking wild celebrations around the 18th green. 'I feel like from where I was, I should at least be in a play-off,' Fleetwood said. 'I didn't really feel like I hit that many bad shots execution-wise, just sort of a couple of bad decisions and didn't clean 'em up, which is pretty poor and things that I have to work on.' Fleetwood added: 'I haven't been in this situation for a while. When it sort of calms down – I am upset now, I am angry – but when it calms down, I will look at the things that I did well and look at the things that I can learn from. 'I did plenty of things well enough this week to win, but I didn't do that and it hurts.' Henley chipped in from the edge of the green on the 18th to secure a tie for second with Fleetwood at 14 under. Harris English and Australian Jason Day finished at 13 under in a tie for fourth. World number one Scottie Scheffler and Masters champion Rory McIlroy both shot five-under-par final rounds to get to 12 under and finish in a share of sixth place. Newly-crowned US Open champion JJ Spaun had the best round of the day, starting off at the 10th, as he carded a seven-under 63 to climb up into the top 15. Viktor Hovland had earlier withdrawn on the third hole of his final round because of a neck injury.

Keegan Bradley wins $20m Travelers Championship after Tommy Fleetwood's sickening 18th hole meltdown
For the second time in three years, the lone New Englander on the PGA Tour has won the golf circuit's lone New England event. USA Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley took home the Travelers Championship on the final hole at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut on Sunday - taking advantage of a stunning collapse from Tommy Fleetwood. The victory means that Bradley moves into the top-ten for Ryder Cup points - making it possible for the Vermont native to be a playing captain at Bethpage Black in late September.
