"It is so hot. The humidity is not easy. We had good moments, many new players. The first game in this group stage is always really, really important. I saw many, many good things," Guardiola said.
Foden put City ahead early, reacting quickly after Wydad goalkeeper Mehdi Benabid parried Savinho's cross, and firing a first-time shot into the net.

City have arrived at the Club World Cup determined to put a frustrating season behind them.
While their opener against Wydad - third-place finishers in the Moroccan league - posed little challenge, tougher tests lie ahead. City will next face UAE side
Al Ain
before wrapping up Group G with a clash against
Juventus
.
Guardiola used the match as a chance to rotate his squad, handing debuts to new arrivals Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, while teenage defender Vitor Reis was given just his third outing since joining the club in January.
For Wydad, the challenge was always going to be steep—made even tougher by the fact that coach Amine Benhachem had only taken charge shortly before the tournament began.
"Before the game I told the players not to be afraid. That if we were going to lose we would lose our way," said Benhachem.
"Nobody likes to lose, but we showed good spirit and we have something to work on for the second match."

In the process, Gill also became the ninth Indian player to score a fifty in his maiden innings as Test captain, and the youngest to do so at 25 years and 285 days. He brought up the landmark with a stylish four off England pacer Josh Tongue, anchoring India's innings alongside opener Yashasvi Jaiswal after KL Rahul's dismissal. Poll Do you think Shubman Gill can lead India to success in Test cricket? Yes, he has the potential. No, he lacks experience. This outing not only underlined Gill's form but also his readiness to lead India through a critical transitional phase following the Test retirements of legends Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin. Earlier, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl, putting India in on a bright, hot day. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ductless Air Conditioners Are Selling Like Crazy [See Why] Keep Cool Click Here Undo Gill, speaking at the toss, noted, 'Would've bowled first as well. Might be a bit tough in the first session but it should get better for batting.' 'Wait until August to see what kind of style it's going to be': Shubman Gill ahead of Headingley Test India made two significant inclusions: Sai Sudharsan, who made his debut at No. 3, and Karun Nair, returning to the Test side after more than eight years. With this performance, Gill has not only given India a strong start but also stamped his presence as a calm, confident leader ushering a new era in Indian Test cricket. FIFA Club World Cup: Messi's free kick hands Inter Miami 2-1 win over Porto

Lionel Messi scored his first goal of the expanded Club World Cup on an exquisite free kick, lifting Inter Miami to a 2-1 victory over two-time European champion Porto. The Herons trailed 1-0 at the break, but Telasco Segovia tied it two minutes into the second half off a cross into the box from Marcelo Weigandt. Then it was time for the 37-year-old Argentinian to add a trademark goal to a resume that already assures he'll go down as one of the game's greatest stars. Samu Omorodion scored on a penalty kick in the opening minutes after a video review for the Portuguese club's first goal of the tournament. Both teams were held to scoreless draws in their opening Group A matches. Key moment Messi was taken down just outside the penalty area by Rodrigo Mora on a run down the middle of the field. The crowd at Mercedes-Benz Stadium was chanting "Messi!" Messi! Messi!" before his left-footed blast cleared the Porto wall and ripped the net in the top right corner in the 54th minute. Takeaways Inter Miami returns to South Florida on Monday, knowing a victory over Brazilian club Palmeiras at Hard Rock Stadium will lock up its spot in the Round of 16. In desperate need of a win, Porto closes out group play against Egypt's Al Ahly at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. What they said"(Messi) is the player that leads us in the ways we have to compete. His hunger, his resilience, his will to go on competing, at whatever level that may be. In football terms, what else can I add? "He's the best player ever to play this sport. But his determination to win is always surprising. Even in the last minutes, when everyone is tired, he continued to support the team in any way he could," said Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano. "What can I say about Messi? I'm not going to say anything that's new. You know what he's capable of on the pitch," Porto coach Martn Anselmi said.
