
Bhilwara cops arrest 5 for online betting, money laundering
Bhilwara: The Bhilwara DST, cyber, and sadar police station conducted a joint operation Friday, arresting five persons involved in creating betting IDs on an online website for gambling in the Sadar police station area.
The police suspects that these activities might be linked to money laundering from abroad, drug financing, land mafia operations, and possibly even terrorist activities. The arrested individuals are being interrogated on all these aspects.
Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav stated that a special campaign is being run to curb illegal gambling and betting in the district. Under the supervision of Bhilwara ASP Parasmal Jain and Sadar DySP Shyam Sundar Bishnoi, a special team was formed, led by Cyber Cell, DST, and Sadar police station in charge Kailash Kumar.
The team received information about two persons in the Sadar police station area placing bets on cricket matches via an online website on their mobile phones.
Acting on this information, the police detained Vinod Kumar (30), from Harni Kala village in Bhilwara, and upon analysing his mobile phone, found evidence of betting transactions worth approximately Rs. 65 lakh.
Similarly, another accomplice, Gopal Das Ghirwani (35) from Azad Nagar in Bhilwara, was also detained.

His mobile phone analysis revealed betting transactions worth around Rs 25 lakh. Consequently, both were arrested along with their associates, Manish Bhadada (49), Deepak Bhadada (45), and Bhagwati Lal Jat (35), and they are being questioned.
SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav said that a transaction of Rs 90 lakh was discovered from the five arrested related to online gaming and betting. Their bank details, communication records, and property lists are being examined, and action under section 107 of BNS is being taken.
The arrested individuals have connections abroad, involving money laundering, drug financing, and links with loan sharks. It is suspected that their activities might extend to terrorist activities, and a thorough investigation is underway.

CBI Names Ex-Officials Of Tata Firm In Alleged Rs 800 Crore Port Scam
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case against former officials of Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), and two dredging companies over alleged irregularities worth over Rs 800 crore in the Capital Dredging Project to deepen ship navigational channels near Mumbai, officials said. The action against the company officials follows a three-year preliminary inquiry into allegations of inflated estimates, throttling of competition to favour international bidders, extension of undue favours to contractors, and suppression of reports from independent expert organisations. In its FIR, the CBI has named the then chief engineer of JNPT Sunil Kumar Madabhavi, then project director of TCE, Devdutt Bose, Boskalis Smit India LLP, Jan De Nul Dredging India Pvt Ltd and other unidentified public servants under IPC Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating) and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The case pertains to a project envisaged by the JNPT to deepen and widen the navigational channel it shared with the Mumbai Port in 2003 to cater to the needs of larger size cargo ships. The Tata firm was roped in for preparation of a final report on the planning for dredging activities for the Capital Dredging Phase-I project, which was submitted in 2010 in association with Dredging Solution. TCE was also awarded the work of project management consultant for the project, including preparation of the tender documents and work of supervising the execution of the project, the FIR alleged. "The allegations of pecuniary advantage obtained by the private companies as a result of abuse of official position by the JNPT officials resulting into a huge wrongful loss to the exchequer, spread over the period from 2003 to 2014 (phase-I of the project) and 2013 to 2019 (phase-II of the project) was also inquired," the CBI said in the FIR.

A drug dealer has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after police discovered nearly 4 million pounds (approximately Rs 46 Crore) worth of cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to The Metro. Conrad Byrd, 50, was apprehended on March 14 on Kenilworth Road in Solihull, West Midlands. Upon searching his car, officers found over 25 kilos of Class-A drugs, packaged with "King Pro" branding, with an estimated street value of 3.8 million pounds (approximately Rs 44 Crore). According to West Midlands Police, as a result of the drugs being found, further searches were carried out at his home address in Sidcup, Bexley, where further kilos of drugs were found along with cash. According to The Metro, Conrad Byrd pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply Class A drugs over a three month period and was jailed at Birmingham Crown Court for 13.5 years. In April, two members of a gang were ordered to pay back more than 300,000 Pounds each after smuggling Class A drugs inside a shipment of raspberry sorbet. William Morritt, 69, and John Madden, 51, moved 39kg of cocaine and 18kg of heroin from Belgium to England in 2017. Police discovered the haul amongst 26 pallets of frozen raspberry yoghurt sorbet at a frozen food warehouse in Bilsthorpe, Nottinghamshire. It was later revealed the pair made over 4.7 million pounds from the operation. The seizure was the biggest of its kind in Nottinghamshire for many years, said police. After an investigation, a number of suspects were charged in connection with the smuggling operation. Five people went on to be convicted of offences, including Madden and Morritt.

Four held for trespassing into Secunderabad MCEME with fake ID card
HYDERABAD: Four persons were arrested on Friday for allegedly trespassing into the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Secunderabad by using a fake identity card to gain access to the premises on Thursday. Trimulgherry police stated that the accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody on Friday. According to the police, the MCEME authorities lodged a complaint at the Trimulgherry police station on Thursday. Based on the complaint, a case was registered against Rakesh Kumar Naresh Rai, Ashish Kumar, Aaliya Abbshi and Nagma Bano Mahemood Ali under relevant Sections of the BNS including Section 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), Section 329(3) (criminal trespass), Section 319(2) (cheating by personation), Section 340(2) (dishonestly using a forged document) and Section 168 (wearing garb or carrying token used by a soldier). As per the complaint, at 1 pm, the four accused, including one person posing as an Air Force officer under the name Wing Commander Rajat Kumar Mishra, entered the MI Techno Chowk Gate of MCEME without authorisation. The group comprised four persons: the impersonator and three others — one man and two women. They allegedly produced a fake identity card to the security personnel at the gate. The four were later stopped by sentries at the Jubilee Gate when they were seen clicking photographs and recording videos of sensitive military locations, including the CSD canteen and a soldiers' monument situated along the internal road. The sentries promptly alerted the MCEME Quick Reaction Team, following which the four were detained for questioning. When confronted by military officials, the accused disclosed their identities.
