Bhilwara cops arrest 5 for online betting, money laundering

Bhilwara: The Bhilwara DST, cyber, and sadar police station conducted a joint operation Friday, arresting five persons involved in creating betting IDs on an online website for gambling in the Sadar police station area. The police suspects that these activities might be linked to money laundering from abroad, drug financing, land mafia operations, and possibly even terrorist activities. The arrested individuals are being interrogated on all these aspects. Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav stated that a special campaign is being run to curb illegal gambling and betting in the district. Under the supervision of Bhilwara ASP Parasmal Jain and Sadar DySP Shyam Sundar Bishnoi, a special team was formed, led by Cyber Cell, DST, and Sadar police station in charge Kailash Kumar. The team received information about two persons in the Sadar police station area placing bets on cricket matches via an online website on their mobile phones. Acting on this information, the police detained Vinod Kumar (30), from Harni Kala village in Bhilwara, and upon analysing his mobile phone, found evidence of betting transactions worth approximately Rs. 65 lakh. Consequently, both were arrested along with their associates, Manish Bhadada (49), Deepak Bhadada (45), and Bhagwati Lal Jat (35), and they are being questioned. SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav said that a transaction of Rs 90 lakh was discovered from the five arrested related to online gaming and betting. Their bank details, communication records, and property lists are being examined, and action under section 107 of BNS is being taken. The arrested individuals have connections abroad, involving money laundering, drug financing, and links with loan sharks. It is suspected that their activities might extend to terrorist activities, and a thorough investigation is underway.

Rajasthan's Bhilwara leads state in crackdown on illegal mining; 346 FIRs filed, 3,358 tonnes seized Bhilwara: Bhilwara has emerged as leaders in the state for preventing illegal mining, with 346 FIRs registered against such miners in the district from January 1 to May 31. Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav said that 346 FIRs have been filed till May 31 this year as compared to 188 last year. So far, 388 individuals have been arrested. In illegal mining cases, 2,632 tonne of gravel, 122 tonne of stone, 341 tonne of garnet, 105 tonne of soil and 158 tonne of quartz/feldspar were seized, totaling 3,358 tonne of minerals. Additionally, 289 tractors with trolleys, six trucks, 60 dumpers, 20 earth movers, 18 trailers and 34 other vehicles involved in illegal mining were seized, totaling 437 vehicles. Last year, 224 vehicles were seized from Jan 1 to May 31, he said. Yadav has appealed to the public to purchase gravel or other minerals only from legally authorised mines or contractors to avoid tax evasion. 1 2 Bhilwara: In a scene reminiscent of a Bollywood thriller, two theft suspects made a daring escape from police custody by scaling the court walls in Mandalgarh town Tuesday afternoon. The suspects took advantage of a momentary lapse in security and made their escape before they could be presented before the judge. Despite the quick attempt made by the escorting cops to apprehend them, the suspects managed to flee and remained untraceable till reports last arrived late Tuesday night. In an immediate disciplinary action, three policemen responsible for the suspects' custody were suspended by Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav. The escaped accused are 26-year-old Dilip Kanjar and 19-year-old Sonu Kanjar who were arrested in connection with a series of gold necklace thefts in the Bigod area of Bhilwara district. According to Bigod police station in-charge, Jai Sultan Kaviya, the two were taken to the ACJM court in Mandalgarh for a hearing, accompanied by ASI Prahlad and constables Hariram and Jaiprakash. "However, before they could be formally presented before the judge, the suspects managed to deceive their escorts, scaled the court wall and made their getaway," said Kaviya. Despite attempts by the ASI and constables to catch them, the duo managed to flee. The ASI reported the escape to senior officers and roadblocks were set up across the district as part of the search operation. Bhilwara SP said the three cops have been suspended for negligence in handling the suspects. "The policemen failed to maintain proper custody of the suspects, resulting in the security breach," said Yadav, adding that a district-wide search operation was on to apprehend the accused. Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the fugitives to the nearest police station or the Bhilwara police control room.

Bhilwara: A joint operation by Banera police station and district special team (DST) in Bhilwara Thursday led to arrests of 12 men who were caught gambling at cards at Kanha Resort near Banera town . Police seized cash of over Rs 4.5 lakh and two cars at the resort, Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav said. The SP said the operation was conducted under supervision of Shahpura ASP Rajesh Arya by Banera police station in-charge Moolchand Verma and the DST team. He said police confiscated a Creta and a Baleno car and registered a case. Furtehr investigation into the gambling being done at the resort is underway, he said. tnn
