The rollover crash brought Jos and his navigator Renaud Jamoul's day to a halt earlier than expected last Friday.
The pair started well - they were 18th overall and best out of the Master classification - but came unstuck on stage nine.
Verstappen admitted they entered a corner "too quickly" before ending up in a ditch after their rear wheels dipped in the gravel.
It caused the Skoda Fabia RS Rally 2 to do a 360, suffering damage in the process, with newly released video painting a grim picture.

The latest clip showed the car with a huge crack in the windscreen, but fortunately, both Jos and Renaud escaped uninjured.
Verstappen said: "I went a little bit too quick into the corner and then I missed the apex, the inside of the corner.
"I was in the loose gravel, on full grass and I couldn't make the corner. Very easy to happen in this kind of rally.
"It was a typical Sweden roll. I flipped it and I was back on the four wheels. Every crash should be a lesson.

"The roll cage is all fine but the front was a little bit damaged, there was some rear damage and one damper was broken.
"I must say I really enjoyed it, the way of driving. Obviously these people from these countries they used to that, the only driving they do is on these kind of stages."
Lewis Hamilton hit with grid penalty at Monaco Grand Prix after blunder saw him forced to apologise to Verstappen
It was Verstappen Snr's third-ever start on an unfamiliar gravel surface.
He didn't manage to travel to Barcelona to watch his son Max compete in the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Red Bull ace endured a weekend to forget after a 10-second penalty dropped him from P5 to P10, and a hefy 49 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri.
The 27-year-old also picked up three-penalty points after "deliberately" colliding with George Russell on Lap 61, when asked to let the Mercedes driver through after using an escape road.
The punishment moves the Dutchman to 11 penalty points – one point away from a race ban.

Neither of those players, though, have managed to reach the heights of their prolific fathers. But there's another rising Dutchman breaking through who could be on track to emulate his dad - who was capped 19 times for the Netherlands, scoring three goals. He made his first team debut for FC Twente this season just like his father did in 1996. The striker is only 19 but he's already the same height as the former Celtic player - standing at 6ft 3in. If you haven't already realised, the teenager is Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink - son of, you guessed it, Jan. The Dutch Under-19 international is enjoying his breakthrough season in the FC Twente first team and is now beginning to make a name for himself Dutch football. But now he's also catching eyes in the UK - particularly Scotland - after he found the net for his country against England on Friday night, eliminating the English side from the tournament. The youngster scored his side's third goal in the contest as the Dutch U19s side raced into a three-goal lead at half-time, with the young Hesselink showing his father's striking instincts to tuck the ball home on a rebound inside the box. It finished 4-2 in the end but it wasn't the match itself that had everyone talking. Reacting on social media one fan wrote: "There's a new Vennegoor of Hesselink?!?!" Another said: "The Vennegoor of Hesselink name lives on." A third laughed: "No way there's another Vennegoor of Hesselink coming through." Celtic fans couldn't believe their eyes either as many called on Brendan Rodgers to make a move for the teenager. Someone said: "I've seen enough, @CelticFC sign him." Another stunned punter commented: "OMG he's back, get him signed Celtic!" While someone else added: "Sign him up. Loved big Jan, injury prone but scored a fair few crucial goals." The Netherlands youngsters now take on Romania in the semi-finals. Celtic misfit bids emotional farewell as reported transfer target Hayato Inamura opens scoring account with a belter

Defender Gustaf Lagerbielke has spent the season in the Eredivisie with FC Twente. Celtic misfit Gustaf Lagerbielke has penned an emotional FC Twente tribute after his loan with the Eredivisie side expired. The Swedish defender headed to the Netherlands on a season-long loan last summer and made 32 appearances in all competitions as Twente narrowly missed out on a place in Europe with a play-off defeat to AZ Alkmaar over two legs. ‌ There was some talk in the Netherlands that Twente were keen to sign the centre back on a permanent deal but that appears to have gone cold due to Lagerbielke - who the Hoops signed for around £3million from Swedish outfit Elfsborg back in 2023 - still having three years left on his contract at Celtic. ‌ Twente are however hoping to bring back fellow defender Robin Propper from city rivals Rangers after just one season in Glasgow. The Dutchman will however hold talks with new Ibrox boss Russell Martin to discuss his future next week. Ahead of his return to Lennoxtown for pre-season next month, Lagerbielke has officially said his goodbyes at Twente. His post on Instagram read: "From the first day I arrived in Enschede, I felt at home. "Every day I drove to the training field in Hengelo, I felt excitement. Every day I was with the team and the staff, I felt joy. "Every day I put on the Twente shirt, I felt proud. Every day I played for your supporters, I felt honoured. "And today I feel grateful. Grateful for all of you and for letting me be part of your family. Thank you." Elsewhere, reported Celtic target Hayato Inamura opened his account for J-League side Albirex Niigata in emphatic style. ‌ The left-sided defender only joined Albi last summer but has made 14 league appearances in Japan's top tier, with his side currently in the midst of a relegation battle. And while Albirex were on the end of another defeat at the hands of Avispa Fukuoka on Saturday, the 23-year-old did register his first goal for the club. ‌ Inamura showed his class to lash home an effort from inside the area and give his team a 1-0 lead after hosts Avispa had failed to clear a corner. However, a quickfire double from their opponents minutes later saw the scoreline reserved and while Albirex levelled things up again, Yuji Kitajima's goal on the stroke of the half-time whistle turned out to be the winner. John Stones hails Thomas Tuchel as Man City star opens up about England future

John Stones has thanked new England manager Thomas Tuchel and opened up about his future on the international stage ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America England defender John Stones has spoken about his huge debt of gratitude to Thomas Tuchel. Three Lions boss Tuchel invited Stones to join the England training camp in Girona and also for a trip to the Barcelona Grand Prix earlier this month. It was a small gesture but one which Stones - who has won 83 caps - was hugely grateful for and it gave him a timely boost in his recovery as well as feeling like he was an older head for some of the younger players. ‌ Stones said: "It was really nice. Change of scenery for me and to be welcomed and asked to go with the team was really nice to be with the guys and be around the players after the season. I love being around the players after the season. I felt very welcomed and wanted. Hopefully I can bring something else. ‌ "I wasn't able to be in that squad but to maybe see it from a different angle, my leadership skills towards the players joining for the first time or the players who haven't been there very long. To spend a few days with them was really nice and I was really grateful." Stones also said that he is also relishing the new challenge and competition this coming season as City have signed eight players this year and spent nearly £300m. But Stones says that will spur him on for the new campaign as he will be one of the older heads. He added: "I'm one of the older ones! It's exciting. Everything is a challenge. I think that's why we thrive off it. We want to win. The guys who are coming to us are coming for a reason. They're quality and they deserve to be here. "It's a great challenge for us all. Fighting for a starting place. Fighting for titles again. Everything moves on life and in football. The club has had to make those decisions and bring new people in. They've been great so far. I can't speak highly enough of them." Stones missed the last three months of the season through injury and is hoping to be fully fit when the Premier League returns in August. Reflecting on his injury problems, Stones added: "I find it very challenging mentally, I have had some very low points in the past season and I just have to come back and once you come over those things, you can't really see the end of the tunnel when they keep happening. "And it's frustrating on the team, on myself, on the manager, that you're not available to help them, and you've got to find another way to be around the team. I don't know what the reason is, and we've sat with the medical staff, sports science, to try and figure out why. ‌ "Some things can't be explained. Which is even more testing mentally when there's not really an answer. I've been unlucky with some of the injuries that I've had, they were very rare last season, after speaking to specialists. "Sometimes I think, why has it happened to me? But I've got to deal with that and move forward and try to adapt with how my body's adapting. As I said, I feel great, I'm back fit, ready to help the team when called upon. "I think this season I've got to look more detailed into training, things that I can do off the pitch that I can sustain playing a lot more games."
