Amanda Seyfried claims she is owed money from Mean Girls 21 years later
Amanda Seyfried has claimed that Paramount Pictures owes her money for using her likeness in Mean Girls merchandise.
Mean Girls was a 2004 phenomenon written by Tina Fey and starring the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Lacey Chabert.
The movie was a phenomenal hit, sparking sequels, a Broadway and West End musical, and a film version of the musical.
In the film, Amanda played Karen Smith, one of the 'plastics' aka the group of 'mean girls' in the film, who use their popularity to rule the school.
In a new interview for Variety's Actors on Actors, Amanda sat down with Nobody Wants This star Adam Brody to discuss their careers thus far.
The topic of Mean Girls came up in conversation, with Amanda admitting that she loves seeing her face on t-shirts but felt a little 'resentful' as she believed she wasn't paid for the use of her likeness.
'I really love seeing my face on people's t-shirts, I mean, I am a little resentful because Paramount still owes me some money.'
'For the likeness,' she clarified. 'Every store sells Mean Girls T-shirts with our faces on. Photographs!
'And I'm like, is it because I was 17 and dumb, or is it just like…you know what I mean?
'But I love it. Even the girl at TSA: 'Mean Girls, my favourite movie!' and I'm like 'Great!' I was 17, I had nothing to do with it.
Speaking about the film in retrospect, the Mamma Mia actress said that she is still excited to speak about it 20 years later.
On the Happy Sad Confused podcast earlier this year, she told host Josh Horowitz: 'I hope they quote it on my grave…. In many ways, it was just a perfect movie. More Trending
'People relate to it still, and it really, it connected us, and it continues to. And I will always be excited to talk about it…. I will, any day, honour that movie.'
She also reflected that she was very young when the film was made, and it was the first time she'd been on a film set.
'I think the experience for me is very specific, because I'd never been in a movie before. I'd never been on a set like that before. And I was working with people who had. So, for me, it was just, everything was new.'
Metro has reached out to Paramount Pictures for comment.

Coronation Street star teases 'big' scenes ahead amid dangerous drugs plot
Coronation Street's Summer Spellman actress Harriet Bibby has revealed all about the ITV soap's LSD storyline, while she teased to The Mirror 'big' scenes are on the way One Coronation Street star has promised "big" scenes ahead on the ITV soap in the coming months. Summer Spellman actress Harriet Bibby spoke exclusively to The Mirror about the upcoming storylines for her character. She also teased the 65th anniversary plans for later this year, and the big Emmerdale crossover airing in 2026. After months of not being onscreen much, Harriet explained to us that she was having a quieter year following the huge and emotional 2024 storyline, that saw Summer's father figure Paul Foreman die after battling motor neurone disease. Summer featured heavily in this storyline, with lots of difficult scenes for actress Harriet. Often in soaps when a character features in a massive storyline, they tend to then go quiet which is what has happened with Summer. But that's all about to change as next week, she takes centre stage once more. This time, Summer and other characters are caught up in a drugs storyline, as three characters take LSD at a house party. What follows is a dramatic and devastating sequence of events. Teasing more from Summer ahead, Harriet told us: "I've had a quieter year this year after the big storyline with Paul last year. It was brilliant, we loved doing it even though every day we were in tears. "We will be seeing more of Summer in the coming months." Harriet also teased the big stuff on the way, saying: "I'm really excited about the crossover. It's never been done before. It will be fun and a little different. "I am hoping to be a part of it but we have no idea. I'd love to meet the Dingles." When asked about the 65th, she said: "I'm the worst person to ask, everything you're asking me I'm asking the bosses! It will be something big though." As for the huge drugs storyline that is coming up, Harriet teased what the fallout will be with it clear something has happened, and that Summer and pal Nina Lucas have been witnesses to something while high. Revealing "the night takes a turn", she teased: "Even with no drugs in their system they'd be feeling really shocked, upset and concerned about what's just happened. "So times that by 10 with the LSD they've got in their system and they're distraught. They're really worried and really scared about what's just happened." Harriet went on: "They figure out that they've witnessed something. "They have different opinions on what to do with this and it causes a little bit of friction between them. Nina thinks they should tell someone and report it whereas Summer is more convinced that they don't know what they've seen because they were affected by the LSD so there's no point in reporting anything as they don't know for sure that something happened. "They're very confused by what they think they saw because they're unsure about what was reality and what was not." On the future impact of the huge plot, she shared: "I think when you find yourselves in quite dangerous situations, and it's not just Summer and Nina who are affected, you look back and think that was a really stupid idea. It affects a lot of different people in different ways and it could have been avoided if these drugs were not at the party."

Emmerdale's Cain broken and bereft as more sad news hits the Dingles
As if he hasn't got enough going on, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) received even more bad news in tonight's episode of Emmerdale. After learning that Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) had been killed and thrown in a lake, Cain has tried to process his grief, but he's been regularly interrupted by Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh). Following the fight Cain and Nate had before he died, Tracy has now decided Cain killed his own son, and won't give the theory up. Yesterday, Cain arrived in the shop to speak with Tracy about Nate's funeral. He wanted to know what her plans were, but she said they involved not inviting him to the event. Cain was devastated. He tried to make himself feel better by judging Eric's (Chris Chittell) relationship with his own son, but the shop owner hit back and said that his son is alive, unlike Cain's. Eric knew that Cain was lashing out because he couldn't deal with the fact Nate died hating him. The comments made Cain tearful, it was obvious that Eric was right. Cain found solace in a bottle of Zak's homemade whisky, but then drank even more courtesy of John (Oliver Farnworth). He was looking for a high and needed to save someone, so he forced Cain to drink so much he passed out. Moira (Natalie J Robb) returned home just as John was putting Cain in the recovery position. He set him up with a drip, and told Moira that Cain just needs rest. Cain didn't leave the sofa in tonight's episode as he dealt with a hellish hangover. As a result, he got Sarah (Katie Hill) to sort the work that needed doing at the garage. When Charity (Emma Atkins) found out, she was annoyed at Cain. Charity now knows that Sarah has cancer, and knew she should be resting rather than doing her job. More Trending Charity marched over to Butlers and told Cain that Sarah wouldn't be at work for the foreseeable. He obviously wanted to know why and eventually, Charity revealed to him and Moira that Sarah has cancer…despite telling her granddaughter that she wouldn't tell them. Bridgerton star Bessie Carter reveals hidden health condition - after hitting back at 'nepo baby' claims
Actress Bessie Carter has revealed she suffers with breathing difficulties after sharing an Instagram reel of her using a nebulizer. The Bridgerton star, 31, said she first became aware that she wasn't breathing properly having squeezed into a tight-fit corset during rehearsals for a West End show last year. With Bessie in high-demand as an actress after the success of Bridgerton, in which she plays Prudence Featherington, her Instagram post on Thursday revealed she has since turned to a nebulizer to combat the problem. Typically used by those that suffer with conditions such as asthma or bronchitis, the apparatus makes breathing easier by delivering medication in the form of mist to the lungs. Sharing a selfie of herself with the nebulizer in her mouth to her Instagram stories, the 31-year-old captioned the post: 'Reality'. The TV star is currently starring alongside her mother Imelda Staunton for the first time in the West End show Mrs Warren's Profession. During a recent podcast the Bridgerton actor spoke about her breathing issue more extensively, including the moment she realised it was a problem. She said: 'The show we did at the National last year, I had to have extra help from the voice person to get my ribs moving, because I am so used to holding my ribs in because of wanting that thin waist, which again is so internalised and so subconscious, I don't' even know I am holding it in.' It comes after Bessie - whose dad is Downton Abbey actor Jim Carter - hit back against claims she is a 'nepo baby' during an interview with The Independent. Despite her parents huge successes in the world of acting, Bessie insisted she has worked for career and 'doesn't really care' about the term 'nepo baby' being used. 'I have a lot of drive to make stuff happen myself, instead of waiting for the phone to ring,' she said. 'Some people might use that phrase (nepo baby), but I don't really care. I believe in myself and my trajectory being what it is, and I've never used my parents, ever, to get any work.' Supporting Bessie was her mother, with Imelda adding: 'There seem to be about 22 million more actors now. During the time of Maggie [Smith] and Robert Stephens [the late parents of the actor Toby Stephens], you could count actors with that level of celebrity on one hand. 'Now it's not unusual for children to have parents who are also actors, simply because there are so many of them.' Bessie did however admit that she's taken inspiration from her parents and their successful careers, heaping praise onto the pair. The 31-year-old's latest endeavour sees her star as Nancy Mitford in the new six-episode series Outrageous, which follows the lives of the Mitford sisters and is based on Mary S Lovell's biography. After the show's release yesterday, Bessie and her castmates celebrated at the Sea Containers hotel. with the actress put up in a luxury suite with panoramic views across London.
