Best PS5, PS4 Exclusives Heavily Discounted on PS Store
The has some incredible deals on some of the best PS4 and PS5 games available on the digital storefront. This includes these two PlayStation exclusives, which some consider the best the company has to offer.
The Last of Us Part 1 and The Last of Us Part 2 are currently discounted on the PS Store. The first entry is available at a 58% discount, while the second is available at a 20% discount. This brings the prices down to $29.39 and $39.99 respectively. Players who want to take advantage of these deals will want to act fast. The offers end on June 12 at 2:59 a.m. ET.
'In a ravaged civilization, where infected and hardened survivors run rampant, Joel, a weary protagonist, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of a military quarantine zone. However, what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal cross-country journey,' reads TLOU Part 1's description.
'Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming,' reads TLOU Part 2's description. 'Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.'
This is a fairly notable discount on the PS Store. As pointed out on the PS5 subreddit, buying TLOU Part 1 and Part 2 separately right now is actually cheaper than purchasing the recently released The Last of Us Complete, which bundles both games together. Specifically, buying separately costs about $70, while purchasing the bundle costs $99.99. There doesn't seem to be a difference between the two packages, so if anyone was thinking about purchasing both games, they could save $30 by buying à la carte.

Star-packed, Covid-shaped 'Death Stranding 2' drops this week
Japanese video game legend Hideo Kojima releases "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach" this week, a star-studded PlayStation sequel inspired by the Covid pandemic. Kojima has said the follow-up to the meditative 2019 game, in which "Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus played post-apocalyptic deliveryman Sam Porter Bridges, is "about connection". "The social situation was that everyone was divided" when development began on "Death Stranding" in 2016, Kojima said as he presented the new instalment at Los Angeles' Summer Game Fest on June 8. "I said, let's get connected. Right after that, we had the pandemic, and my fiction became a little reality" as people communed over new digital channels, he added. "Death Stranding 2", which drops Thursday, reflects Kojima's hope that people will rediscover analogue ways of being together following the years of isolation, he said. The first "Death Stranding" was a hybrid between a hiking simulator and a classic action game. It was set in a gloomy, fantastical science-fiction universe where characters are aged by the rain and carry foetuses that warn them of dangerous ghostly creatures nearby. Reedus's character Bridges had the job of reconnecting the last outposts of civilisation in a devastated United States following a disaster. This time Bridges's adventures will bring him to Mexico and Australia, in a story that 61-year-old Kojima -- creator of the equally fantastical "Metal Gear" stealth action saga -- said was completely rewritten in light of Covid-19. "I already had the DS2 idea but I had to scratch that off because I experienced the pandemic. So I rewrote," he said. "It's a new connection... I put that in the game system and I want everyone to experience that," Kojima added. French actor Lea Seydoux -- a star of films like James Bond adventure "No Time to Die" or Quentin Tarantino's World War II romp "Inglourious Basterds" -- returns in 3D form alongside Reedus. But new big-name talent is also along for the ride, including American actor Elle Fanning and the likeness of "Mad Max" director George Miller. French singer Woodkid composed the score for the new episode. Kojima Productions, the eponymous studio the developer founded in 2015 after leaving Japanese giant Konami, said in March this year that the first "Death Stranding" had more than 20 million players. And the franchise is broadening out to other media, with a feature film in development with American studio A24 as well as an animated film. Kojima is already turning his bottomless energy to other projects, including a horror game, "OD", co-written with American director Jordan Peele ("Get Out", "Nope") and developed in partnership with Microsoft. He is also returning to the world of spy games in the vein of "Metal Gear" with a new espionage title, "PHYSINT". kf/tgb/lth

‘Death Stranding 2' Reviews Are In, And It's A GOTY Contender
Death Stranding 2 It's not every day the legendary Hideo Kojima releases a new game, and when he does, the entire gaming industry stands up and takes notice. As expected, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is another stellar offering from Kojima, and as reviews pour in, the high scores are everywhere. Not the highest of the entire year, perhaps, but very high all the same. As I write this, Death Stranding 2 has a 90 on Metacritc, ticked up from an 89 as I wrote this article, and that makes it one of the best-reviewed games of the year. And probably the best-reviewed at this scale. Here's the current list, though you have to keep in mind things like Zelda 'upgrades' and smaller games with a tiny amount of reviews in: Death Stranding 2 So yes, I would classify this as the best-reviewed AAA game that's been released so far this year, and I have little doubt it's going to be in the GOTY shortlist. I've seen The Washington Post's Gene Park describe it as Kojima's best game since 2004's Metal Gear Solid 3, which is certainly saying something. The 90 score is well above the 82 the first Death Stranding received in 2019. The PS5-only game currently has a full 25 10/10 scores out of this 90 reviews in, its lowest are just two 7s. Here is what critics are saying about it: While Kojima games are not for everyone, you are not going to hear anything but glowing recommendations here from 95% of critics. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launches just three days from now, on Thursday, June 26. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.
