Brooklyn Beckham opens up about father David Beckham amid family rift
Brooklyn Beckham has broken his silence about father David Beckham, amid reports of a growing family rift, according to The Sunday Times.
Speaking at the Formula E Evo Sessions in Miami in March, Brooklyn recalled how racing helped him bond with his father. 'It's something that me and my dad bonded over,' he told The Sunday Times. He added that David's prized possession is a 1954 Jaguar, which he rarely drives unless the weather is perfect.
The comment comes as tensions within the Beckham family continue to attract media attention. Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz were notably absent from David's 50th birthday celebrations last week, despite reportedly cancelling plans to attend the Met Gala. The Mail also reported that Romeo Beckham's girlfriend, Kim Turnbull, has allegedly become a scapegoat in the ongoing tensions.
Sources cited by The Sun claim David Beckham is eager to mend ties with his eldest son, fearing a repeat of his own estrangement from his father, Ted Beckham. The two were not on speaking terms for several years, only reconciling after Ted suffered a health scare in 2007.
In a 2024 episode of This Life of Mine with James Corden, David revealed he only received his father's approval after earning 100 England caps. Despite winning multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups, and a Champions League trophy, he said Ted never told him he'd 'made it' until that milestone.
According to The Sun, Victoria Beckham has also been deeply affected. One source claimed she has had 'sleepless nights' over the situation. The family has not issued any public comment.

David Beckham's garden carrot leaves Victoria ‘embarrassed' in funny home video
Sir David Beckham left his wife Victoria in fits of laughter after sharing a light-hearted video from their Cotswolds garden. The 50-year-old former England captain filmed himself harvesting a carrot from his home vegetable patch while being filmed by Victoria. 'I really hope it's good,' David said as he crouched beside the garden bed, clearing away soil with anticipation. But the excitement quickly turned to humour as he pulled up a small carrot with twisted roots. Victoria, filming the moment, burst into laughter, exclaiming, 'That's so disappointing,' and added, 'Omg that's embarrassing.' Posting the moment on Instagram, David captioned the video: 'Exciting day today in my veggie garden, CARROTS, but not exactly what I expected.' Fans reacted warmly in the comments. The Beckhams have gradually transformed their £12 million Cotswolds estate into a rural retreat, featuring a lake, bee hives, a greenhouse, an outdoor sauna, and multiple garden patches. David's passion for outdoor living was also noted in his Netflix documentary, where he shared his love for his 'country get-up.'

Man City squad must be trimmed: Guardiola
ATLANTA: Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said Saturday his club will have to sell players this summer for the stars' own good. The Premier League side brought in several players ahead of the Club World Cup, leaving Guardiola with a large squad. Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has been linked with a move to Turkish side Galatasaray in recent days. Guardiola said he did not know anything about it, but said several players would have to be sold following the purchases of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri. 'I will love to have the players we have right now all season,' Guardiola told reporters in Atlanta. 'The problem is they will be unhappy during the season, they will be sad, they will be disappointed. 'I don't want that. I do it for them, not for me. For them. We have to see what happens, it's a long time until the transfer window will be closed, we have to see step by step.' Guardiola has said in the past he prefers a squad size of around 20 senior players, whereas City have more than 30 at present. Before trimming the squad City are hoping to win the Club World Cup in the United States with their new arrivals providing fresh energy. They beat Wydad AC in their first match and face Al Ain on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium where they can seal qualification to the last 16. Guardiola said Spanish defensive midfielder Rodri was not able to start the game as he continues his comeback from injury. 'He's getting better. He can play 20 minutes, 30 minutes at a time. He wants to play to help but we want to protect his knee,' said the coach. 'Privilege' Guardiola said he was keen to take City far in the Club World Cup and it was a 'privilege to be here'. The coach dismissed some of the complaints about the competition and pointed towards the attitude of the South American clubs as an example of follow. 'I love when I see Botafogo, all the Brazilian teams, Argentinian teams, how they celebrate, how they are together, I love them,' said Guardiola. 'I'm pretty sure for the South American teams, for the Brazilian teams, for Argentinean teams, this competition is maybe the maximum. 'I like how all the games are tight, except one or two, and people are surprised, European teams lose. Welcome to the real world. Welcome to the real world my friends.' Guardiola said Brazilian sides would have a 'carnival for one week' if they won the tournament. Man City's Guardiola demands slimmer squad for next season After Manchester City failed to win a trophy apart from the Community Shield, it would provide a boost heading into the new season. Guardiola said his team and staff, both featuring new arrivals, were enjoying spending time with each other and their facilities in Florida. 'It's a privilege to be here… to be back in four years time you have to win big, big, prizes,' said Guardiola. 'Once we are here why should not we fight to stay longer and longer and longer. 'We can say it's annoying to come here (but) I want to arrive to the last stages, and that's the truth.'

Harry Kane shines as Bayern Munich beat Boca Juniors to reach CWC knockouts
England captain Harry Kane played a decisive role in Bayern Munich's 2-1 victory over Boca Juniors on June 20, sending his side into the FIFA Club World Cup knockout stage with a game to spare. Kane opened the scoring in the 18th minute, finishing calmly from 10 yards out following sustained Bayern pressure. HARRY KANE!!! HURRICANE 🏴⚽️ — FC Bayern Brasileiro (@FCBayernXtra) June 21, 2025 Boca levelled through Miguel Merentiel, who curled in a well-placed equaliser early in the second half. With just six minutes remaining, Kane provided the decisive moment again — poking the ball through to Michael Olise. The former Crystal Palace winger struck a composed, side-footed winner from the edge of the box to seal Bayern's place in the next round. 'Big performance from the guys,' Kane told DAZN after being named player of the match. 'We knew it wasn't going to be easy and we knew we were coming into a hostile environment. It is great to get the goal and qualify.' Kane added: 'It is a massive tournament, playing against the best teams in the world, but it is us against us. That is the mindset and we have to compete at our best level. So far, so good.' Harry Kane's post game interview 🎙️ — Bayern & Football (@MunichFanpage) June 21, 2025 Bayern need just a point against Benfica in their final Group B fixture to guarantee top spot. That could set up a last-16 meeting with Chelsea, should the Premier League side finish second in their group. Enzo Maresca's Chelsea currently sit second after falling 3-1 to Flamengo on Friday. The only concern for Vincent Kompany's side was the sight of Jamal Musiala limping off midway through the second half, having only come on as a substitute. The extent of the Germany midfielder's injury remains unclear. Boca Juniors' defeat ended a nine-match unbeaten run for South American teams in this revamped tournament. The Argentine club still have a slim chance of progressing, but would need Benfica to lose heavily and must overturn a seven-goal swing.
