Jason Momoa Sets His Return as Duncan Idaho in ‘Dune 3': ‘I'm Making a Comeback'

Yahoo31-03-2025

As director Denis Villeneuve inches closer to starting production on 'Dune 3,' actor Jason Momoa has made his future with the sci-fi franchise known.
During a Monday interview with 'Today', Momoa confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Duncan Idaho in Villeneuve's sequel to 2024's 'Dune: Part Two.' When asked by host Craig Melvin if he's 'gotten a call' about the film, Momoa responded, 'Well, I'm not sure if I'm going to get in trouble or not, but it's the same thing like 'Game of Thrones,' you know what I mean? If you didn't read the books, it's not my fault, right?'
'Yeah, there's going to be… I'm going to be coming back,' he continued. 'I'm making a comeback! You heard it first, right here with you, baby.' Laughing, Momoa added, 'You just got me in trouble!'
In 2021's 'Dune: Part One,' Momoa's Duncan, the swordmaster of House Atreides and an influential mentor to Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides, willingly sacrifices himself in order to give Paul and his mother Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) enough time to escape a deadly ambush. Duncan dies in a similar fashion in author Frank Herbert's original 'Dune' novel.
However, the character is brought back to life in Herbert's third 'Dune' book, 'Dune Messiah,' as a clone-like replica of his original self. 'Messiah' takes place 12 years after 'Dune: Part Two' and it explores the fallout of Paul's bloody rise to ultimate power. Duncan, for his part, goes on to be the only character featured in all six of Herbert's original 'Dune' books.
Villeneuve's 'Dune 3,' oft prematurely referred to by fans as 'Dune Messiah,' is expected to be, like its two predecessors, a largely faithful adaptation of its Herbert-penned source material. Momoa's confirmation of his return is not, therefore, a particularly shocking revelation.
It is, however, noteworthy that Momoa has chosen to announce his return so early. 'Dune 3' is not expected to begin filming until later this year. It is a move reminiscent of Josh Brolin's insistence that 'Dune: Part Two' be added to his IMDb page shortly after the release of 'Dune: Part One,' despite the fact that the fate of his character, Gurney Halleck, is left purposefully ambiguous at the end of the first film.
Villeneuve's 'Dune' movies continue to inspire a level of excitement from their cast members the likes of which is rarely seen these days in Hollywood's expensive franchise world. It is not hard to see why, though, as both 'Dune: Part One' and 'Dune: Part Two' garnered considerable critical praise, financial success and awards recognition following their respective releases.
'Dune 3' is expected to hit theaters in 2026.

Is ‘North Shore' returning for season 2? Everything we know so far

North Shore , the Aussie crime show, grabbed viewers with its juicy murder plot and sweet Sydney Harbour scenery. You've got Joanne Froggatt as Abigail Crawford, a tough UK Trade Minister, and John Bradley as Detective Max Drummond, a Brit cop teaming up with an Aussie partner to crack the case of Abigail's daughter Sophie's death. Since it dropped on Network 10 in Australia in May 2023 and hit ITVX in the UK in December 2024, fans are dying to know: Is Season 2 happening? Here's everything we know so far. Is North Shore Season 2 Happening? As of June 2025, Network 10 and Paramount+ haven't said yes or no to North Shore Season 2. There's a glimmer of hope, though. Back in August 2023, the Nilsen Report claimed filming was set to start in Sydney that October, with Beach Road Pictures, ITV Studios, and Screen Australia in the mix. But no one's followed up with hard news, so we're left hanging, wondering if it's a go or a bust. Season 1 pulled a 6.8/10 on IMDb, and fans loved Froggatt and Bradley's chemistry, plus the crime-meets-drama vibe. Some weren't stoked about slow pacing or side characters who didn't shine, which might weigh on the decision. Until we hear more, it's all guesswork. North Shore Season 2 Potential Release Date No Season 2 confirmation means no release date yet. If that October 2023 filming rumor panned out, they might've wrapped by early 2024. Going by how long Season 1 took, we could see new episodes by late 2025 or early 2026. North Shore Season 2 Potential Plot Season 1 dug into Sophie's murder, with Max and Aussie cop Meg Driscoll (Kirsty Sturgess) unraveling political dirt and dark secrets. It tied up the main case but left some questions. No official plot for Season 2 yet, but here's what might go down: New Case, Same Duo: Max and Meg, with their Brit-Aussie banter, could tackle another Sydney murder, maybe tied to some shady international deal. Old Clues: Season 1 dropped hints about dodgy businessman Lloyd Macklin and a mystery caller tipping off Max and Abigail. Those could spark a new mess. Real Feelings: Abigail's still hurting from her loss, and Max's got issues with his partner, Anna, which could add depth to a fresh case. Mike Bullen, who made Cold Feet , knows how to blend grit and heart, so expect any new season to pack a punch. Ahmedabad Plane Crash

Machine Gun Kelly Explains the Meaning of the Unique Name He and Megan Fox Gave Their Baby

THE RUNDOWN On Friday, Machine Gun Kelly made an appearance on Today, where he opened up about raising his daughter with Megan Fox. The musical artist recently shared the baby's name, Saga Blade, and he explained the meaning behind the words for himself and Fox. In his explanation, MGK seemed to refer to Fox's experiencing pregnancy loss, which she was quite open about before and after revealing she was expecting. 'Her journey, the five years of her culmination of coming, disappearing, coming back again, disappearing, coming back again, she's an epic story and that's what Saga means,' said Kelly. 'I'm also of Norwegian heritage and so that's a Nordic goddess of storytelling and I think she has a storytelling future ahead of her. Megan's a great mom and just killing it and I'm so excited.' In a video posted earlier this week, Kelly can be seen rocking Saga's baby chair while serenading her. The infant can't be seen on camera. In the caption, he wrote, 'Saga Blade Fox-Baker ❤️‍🔥 thank you for the ultimate gift @meganfox.' Fox's poetry book, Pretty Boys Are Poisonous, touched on her miscarriages. In 2023, Fox shared in an interview with WWD that she had an ectopic pregnancy while in a relationship with Kelly, saying, 'I've had other things that I'm not going to say because God forbid the world will be in an uproar. But I've been through other similar issues, but not with someone who I was so in love with.' Fox has three other children with ex-husband Brian Austin Green, Noah, Bodhi, and Journey. MGK shares his teen daughter, Casie, with his former partner, Emma Cannon. Fox and Kelly dated for five years and were engaged before splitting late last year, shortly after announcing they were expecting.

MGK Comments On Megan Fox After Breakup Rumors

Machine Gun Kelly made a brief but rare comment on his ex-fiancé Megan Fox. MGK and Megan were together for four years before reportedly ending their relationship in November. They have one child together, daughter Saga Blade, whom they welcomed in March. And in an appearance on Today, MGK opened up about what it's been like to co-parent with Megan since welcoming their daughter three months ago. He said, "Megan is a great mom. She's killing it. I'm so excited." He also discussed the special meaning behind Saga's name, which appears to honor their past experience with pregnancy loss. "[It's] her journey," he explained. "You know, the five years, the culmination of coming, disappearing, coming back again—she is an epic story. And that's what Saga means." MGK added, "I'm also of Norwegian heritage, so that's the Nordic goddess of storytelling. So I think she has a storytelling future ahead of her." Makes sense! Watch the full clip here:
