Jagan Mohan Reddy Slams Red Book Constitution After Tenali Police Brutality On Dalit Youths
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday visited the families of three young men in Tenali who were allegedly subjected to police torture and public assault. He described the incident as indicative of a broader institutional decline under the current administration, referring to it as evidence of the "Red Book Constitution" — a term he uses to critique the state's governance.
The alleged incident occurred on April 25, involving Chebrolu John Victor, Karimullah, and Doma Rakesh. According to reports, the three men were detained, forced to sit on the roadside, and beaten with batons in public view. Reddy claimed they were also threatened with electric shocks while in custody.
"In the state of Andhra Pradesh, every institution has taken a back seat," Reddy said. "Thanks to the N. Chandrababu government and the Red Book Constitution, the police have become complicit in these activities."

While the YSR Congress Party condemned the incident and called for an impartial investigation, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha defended the police's actions. She stated that the police were acting against individuals involved in criminal activities. "Police acted against rowdy sheeters and the ganja batch. It is not right to attribute caste and religion to this," she said in a public statement.
The victims belong to Dalit and minority communities, raising concerns among rights groups who have called for an independent probe into the incident. The episode has further intensified the political standoff between the TDP government and the opposition YSRCP over law enforcement and civil liberties in the state.

The couple separated months later and a divorce case is on. Amid this chatter, Tej Pratap claimed his profile had been hacked. "My social media platform was hacked and my photographs were edited wrongfully," he wrote on X. The next day, Tej Pratap's father and RJD patriarch Lalu Yadav announced the decision to expel him from the party. He said "ignoring moral values" in personal life weakens the community's struggle for social justice. "The elder son's activities, public behaviour and irresponsible conduct are not in line with our family's values. In the current circumstances, I remove him from the party and the family. From now on, he will have no role in the party and the family. If people try to suppress me, I will approach the court." The RJD leader urged the Bihar government to enhance his security cover and claimed a threat to his life. While the Nitish Kumar-led alliance of the BJP and JDU is looking to return to power, the RJD-Congress block is going all out to secure a win. Tej Pratap said that as an elder brother, he wants RJD's Tejashwi Yadav to become Bihar's Chief Minister. Sheikh Hasina (Image: ANI) DHAKA: A Bangladesh government-appointed commission investigating hundreds of disappearances by the security forces under ousted premier Sheikh Hasina on Monday warned that the same "culture of impunity" continues. The Commission of Inquiry into Enforced Disappearances is probing abuses during the rule of Hasina, whose government was accused of widespread human rights abuses. That includes the extrajudicial killing of hundreds of political opponents and the unlawful abduction and disappearance of hundreds more. The commission was established by interim leader, Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus , 84, who is facing intense political pressure as parties jostle for power ahead of elections expected early next year. Bangladesh has a long history of military coups and the army retains a powerful role. "Enforced disappearances in Bangladesh were not isolated acts of wrongdoing, but the result of a politicised institutional machinery that condoned, normalised, and often rewarded such crimes," the commission said, in a section of a report released by the interim government on Monday. Lalu files papers for 13th term as RJD president
1 2 Patna: Former CM Lalu Prasad on Monday filed his nomination papers for the post of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national president. Having held the position since the party's inception in 1997, he is set to take charge for a 13th term (2025-2028). RJD national assistant election officer Chitranjan Gagan said the nomination papers would be formally scrutinised on Tuesday. "If the name is not withdrawn, a notification will be issued on Tuesday itself regarding the unopposed election of Lalu to the post of RJD national president," he said. However, the official certificate will be presented to Lalu at the RJD national council meeting in Patna on July 5, Gagan added. Lalu arrived at the party headquarters accompanied by his wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti and son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who is also the leader of the opposition in the Bihar legislative assembly.
