Biocon to invest in Maharashtra, we will support: CM Fadnavis

Mumbai, May 2 (UNI) India's largest bio-phrmaceutical company Biocon Limited is keen to invest in Maharashtra through a drug manufacturing project, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Friday. promising to provide necessary support for the endeavour.
Fadnavis was speaking during a meeting with the Executive Chairman of Biocon Limited, Kiran Shaw Muzumdar, at the 'Waves 2025 Audiovisual Entertainment Summit' here.
Fadnavis said state government officials will have preliminary discussions with the Biocon Management Committee in this regard.
He said the state government will provide all possible support to Biocon to invest in Maharashtra.
Biocon, which will soon become the world's leading company in insulin production, wants to start a production unit in Pune area, said Kiran Majumdar Shaw. UNI VKB SSP

Afghan dry fruit traders concerned over continued closure of Attari-Wagah border
Kabul, June 21 (UNI) The closure of the Attari–Wagah border crossing, one of Afghanistan's key trade routes to India, has raised serious concerns among dried fruit exporters of Afghanistan. The Kabul Dry Fruit Exporters Union has warned that stopping freight truck movement on this route could severely disrupt both fresh and dried fruit exports, Tolo News reported. The union has urged Pakistani and Indian authorities to reopen the route permanently for Afghan cargo trucks. Khalid Rahmani, spokesperson for the union, told TOLOnews, 'We hope alternative links through Wagah and Chabahar ports will open soon. Given the current political and trade tensions between Pakistan and India, we predict a decline in exports to both countries.' After the Indian and Pakistani military tensions eased, the border reopened briefly on May 9, allowing about 162 trucks to pass, but it was shut again. At least 12 Afghan export trucks remain stuck at the crossing. With the fruit harvest season approaching, traders warn that continued closure could pose major challenges for Afghan exports. They are calling for diplomatic engagement to reopen this critical trade route. Omid Haidari, head of international relations at the Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock, said: 'We urge the leadership of the Islamic Emirate, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to strengthen contact with the Indian Foreign Ministry so that our major trade route can be reopened.' Merchant Mahboobullah Mohammadi, said, 'Our biggest export is dried fruit, especially pine nuts, which we mostly send to India via Wagah. State Launches Maha-AASTHA to Digitise Employee Records
Nagpur: The Maharashtra government has launched a time-bound drive to bring every service record of state employees online through its new e-HRMS platform, Maharashtra Advanced Administrative System for Transparent Human Resource Administration (Maha-AASTHA). The initiative aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in maintaining government staff data, from appointment formalities to retirement benefits. According to a Government Resolution (GR) issued on June 20, all departments at Mantralaya must establish dedicated Maha-AASTHA cells by June 27. Each department is required to appoint a nodal officer (SPOC) and submit their contact details to the general administration department (GAD) by June 30. These cells will function as control rooms to oversee the transition from paper-based service books to fully digitized records. Updating service records has been made mandatory. All details—such as appointments, transfers, promotions, training, leave history, pension nominations, and disciplinary actions—must be uploaded to the digital service books by July 15. Decision on loan waiver at appropriate time: CM
Pune: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said a decision on farmers' loan waiver would be taken at the appropriate time. He said guidelines and set procedures must be followed while taking such a decision. The Mahayuti govt would not backtrack from any of the assurances it had given, Fadnavis told reporters here after attending the International Yoga Day event at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). Opposition parties have been pressing for an immediate announcement of farm loan waiver to give relief to farmers in the state. Fadnavis said the govt would definitely take a call on the loan waiver at the right time. The chief minister said the govt was keeping a watch on the ongoing rainfall in the state and on water storages in all major dams. "Planning has been done on the release of water and suspension of discharge from dams. The govt is working in coordination with the neighbouring states on this. Our engineers have been deployed in these states. They are coordinating on water release and related developments," he said.
