Peacemaker Is Meeting Guy Gardner In Season 2 Of John Cena's DC Show, And Nathan Fillion Explained Why It Will Be A ‘Powder Keg' When They're Together

After watching the Peacemaker Season 2 trailer last week, I immediately found myself asking what's happened to Viola Davis' Amanda Waller since she's no longer in charge of A.R.G.U.S. I'd be lying, however, if I said I wasn't surprised to learn from the preview that Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl and Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord are appearing in this upcoming DC TV show following their debut in James Gunn's Superman. But as Fillion recently discussed, it's going to be a 'powder keg' when Guy and John Cena's Christopher Smith crossed paths.
Fillion briefly discussed his second turn as Earth's bowl-cut Green Lantern while speaking with TVLine, confirming these two characters will definitely not be fans of one another when Peacemaker Season 2 starts airing on the 2025 TV schedule. As he put it:
Yeah, it's clear from their relationship that the two of them do not get along. Not a fan of each other. I wouldn't call them both A-listers by any means, but I think they both consider themselves maybe in their hearts they should be A-listers. I think they have a lot to prove. I think they've got chips on their shoulders. And I think it's just a powder keg when they get together.
As seen in the trailer, Peacemaker meets Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl and Maxwell Lord when he's trying out for the superhero team Lord has put together that also includes Edi Gathegi's Mister Terrific. Unfortunately for Mr. Smith, a faulty microphone results in him hearing the trio be unimpressed with his qualifications and other things not intended for his ears. Guy is seen laughing at the awkwardness the technical difficulty caused, and he's clearly not broken up about not having Peacemaker as his new teammate.

From the way Nathan Fillion is talking, it sounds like we'll see Peacemaker and Guy Gardner together in more than just this one scene. That snippet of footage doesn't scream 'powder keg' to me, so I'm eager to see just how specifically these two brash personalities clash. Like Fillion pointed out, the irony is that Peacemaker and Guy are pretty similar to one another because they both believe they should be more highly thought of among their superhero peers. At least in Guy's case though, he's already on a superhero team, which I'm sure makes him think he's superior to Christopher Smith.
Following our first encounter with Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner in Superman starting July 11, we'll see just how he and Christopher Smith butt heads when Peacemaker Season 2 premieres August 21 on Max. Fillion will also reprise his DCU character next year in HBO's Lanterns opposite Kyle Chandler's Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre's John Stewart.

Is ‘North Shore' returning for season 2? Everything we know so far
North Shore , the Aussie crime show, grabbed viewers with its juicy murder plot and sweet Sydney Harbour scenery. You've got Joanne Froggatt as Abigail Crawford, a tough UK Trade Minister, and John Bradley as Detective Max Drummond, a Brit cop teaming up with an Aussie partner to crack the case of Abigail's daughter Sophie's death. Since it dropped on Network 10 in Australia in May 2023 and hit ITVX in the UK in December 2024, fans are dying to know: Is Season 2 happening? Here's everything we know so far. Is North Shore Season 2 Happening? As of June 2025, Network 10 and Paramount+ haven't said yes or no to North Shore Season 2. There's a glimmer of hope, though. Back in August 2023, the Nilsen Report claimed filming was set to start in Sydney that October, with Beach Road Pictures, ITV Studios, and Screen Australia in the mix. But no one's followed up with hard news, so we're left hanging, wondering if it's a go or a bust. Season 1 pulled a 6.8/10 on IMDb, and fans loved Froggatt and Bradley's chemistry, plus the crime-meets-drama vibe. Some weren't stoked about slow pacing or side characters who didn't shine, which might weigh on the decision. Until we hear more, it's all guesswork. North Shore Season 2 Potential Release Date No Season 2 confirmation means no release date yet. If that October 2023 filming rumor panned out, they might've wrapped by early 2024. Going by how long Season 1 took, we could see new episodes by late 2025 or early 2026. North Shore Season 2 Potential Plot Season 1 dug into Sophie's murder, with Max and Aussie cop Meg Driscoll (Kirsty Sturgess) unraveling political dirt and dark secrets. It tied up the main case but left some questions. No official plot for Season 2 yet, but here's what might go down: New Case, Same Duo: Max and Meg, with their Brit-Aussie banter, could tackle another Sydney murder, maybe tied to some shady international deal. Old Clues: Season 1 dropped hints about dodgy businessman Lloyd Macklin and a mystery caller tipping off Max and Abigail. Those could spark a new mess. Real Feelings: Abigail's still hurting from her loss, and Max's got issues with his partner, Anna, which could add depth to a fresh case. Mike Bullen, who made Cold Feet , knows how to blend grit and heart, so expect any new season to pack a punch. Ahmedabad Plane Crash

James Gunn's ‘Superman' Tracking for $135 Million U.S. Box Office Opening
With three weeks left to go, James Gunn and DC Studios' Superman is tracking to open in the $135 million range at the domestic box office. If that forecast is right, Superman would land high up on the list of DC openings, although it would lag well behind the $166 million domestic debut of 2016's Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice, not adjusted for inflation. At the same time, it would come in safely ahead of the last solo Superman movie, Zack Snyder's 2013 film Man of Steel ($116 million). More from The Hollywood Reporter Box Office Preview: Will 'How to Train Your Dragon' Eat '28 Years Later' and Pixar's 'Elio' for Lunch? DC Studios Horror Movie 'Clayface' to Star Tom Rhys Harries European Box Office Revenue Rises (Barely) Despite Softer Admissions Opinion, however, is sharply divided as to just how high Superman can fly. The $135 million stat is from leading tracking service the National Research Group, according to sources with access to the data. NRG always provides a range in addition to a solo number; in this case, the range for Superman's domestic opening is $125 million to $145 million. Tracking is hardly a science, and projections have been notably off in a number of instances from all the services. To that end, insiders at DC Studios and Warners are being more conservative in suggesting $90 million to $125 million (although anything less than $100 million might be seen as a blemish). On the opposite end of the spectrum, some box office experts who monitor social metrics speculate that Superman could open to as much as $175 million, which would supplant Batman v Superman as DC's biggest opening. As of now, the next two biggest openings belong to Christopher Nolan's final two Batman movies, 2012's The Dark Knight Rises ($160.9 million) and 2008's The Dark Knight ($158.4 million). If opening to $135 million, Gunn's Superman would take the next spot, ahead of 2022's The Batman ($134 million) and 2016's Suicide Squad ($133.7 million), unadjusted. The highly anticipated summer tentpole is a seminal moment for Gunn and Peter Safran, as it's their first homegrown release since being tasked with restoring the luster to DC and making a stab at catching up with Marvel Studios. The movie, which kicks off their DC Universe, opens July 11 in North America, timed to its release around the world, meaning DC and Warners have three weeks to make their final marketing push. Superman stars David Corenswet in the titular role opposite Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. In this latest rendition of a story that's been told on the big screen numerous times, Superman grapples with his powers while trying to balance everyday life as journalist Clark Kent after being sent to Earth from his home planet Krypton. (One new addition is the dog, Krypto). The cast also includes Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl) and María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer).
