PM aids ailing single mother living in poor conditions
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has presented a contribution to Melah Idris, a single mother living in poverty and suffering from chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol.
The contribution was handed over by the Prime Minister's political secretary, Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, when he visited the 63-year-old mother of eight at her home in Kampung Padang, Kuantan.
Ahmad Farhan said the senior citizen relied entirely on her children to cover kitchen expenses and utility bills.
'Her house is in a poor condition, with the bedroom floor already rotting and no longer safe to live in. Yet, her face remains calm, as if she keeps all her suffering deep inside so as not to burden anyone.
'On behalf of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, I am presenting a small contribution and will look into the most appropriate form of assistance for her, not only in terms of financial aid but also in ensuring a safer place for her to live,' he said in a Facebook post shared by the Prime Minister today.
In the same post, Ahmad Farhan expressed hope that no citizen would be left to suffer in silence without receiving proper assistance.

Anwar calls on Sarawak PKR to strengthen party's grassroots
KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged the Sarawak leadership line-up to continue strengthening the party's grassroots following the recent party elections in May. The Prime Minister said PKR's grassroots strength must be embraced, reminding those who won in the election not to be arrogant but instead to work together with all parties, including those who lost. 'Each of us has our own role and strength to continue serving the people. 'Building the party in the Land of the Hornbills is no easy feat, but with collective determination, KEADILAN can certainly establish a firm footing,' he said in a Facebook post after a meeting with the Sarawak PKR Leadership Council yesterday. Anwar added that the mandate given to the leadership was not an absolute right, but a major responsibility that must be carried out with honesty and sincerity. Kota Kinabalu: Angkatan Muda Keadilan Sabah condemned the burning of a caricature resembling Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during Saturday's Gempur Rasuah 2.0 rally, allegedly by some Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students. They said while they back any public movement fighting for integrity, transparency and the eradication of corruption, they reject the controversial act. 'Such actions not only disrespect the principles of mature and civilised discourse but also contradict the spirit and long history of the PM's struggle against corruption and abuse of power since the 1998 era,' said AMK Sabah Information Chief Mohd Nur Hilmie Milus, in a statement, Sunday. He said the Prime Minister has been among the most consistent, firm and courageous political figures in combating the culture of corruption, not just in speeches but through various institutional reforms and fiscal transparency policies currently being implemented under the Madani Unity Government. 'We believe that any form of public pressure should be conducted in a measured, factual and constructive manner, not by ridiculing symbols of leaders who are driving real change in the country's administration,' he added. He said AMK Sabah remains committed to being a progressive voice for youths, advocating against corruption and institutional reform, but through principled and wise approaches rather than street rhetoric that plays with symbols revered by people.
