Aberdeen unlikely to move for Iraqi winger Marko Farji
Aberdeen are understood not to be among the clubs looking to sign Iraq international midfielder Marko Farji.
The winger has scored seven goals and provided three assists in his opening 11 games for Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset.
The Daily Record have linked the Dons with the attacker and reportedly face competition from former Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes for the player's signature with McInnes keen on adding Farji to his squad at Hearts.
Farji has been the standout performer for his club, who are 14th in the Norwegian Eliteserien with just two wins from nine matches.
The 21-year-old, who normally plays as a left winger, can also play on the right-hand side or as a central midfielder.
His performances for his club led to Farji, who was born in Norway to Iraqi parents, making his debut for Iraq in the Arabian Gulf Cup.
Farji featured for Iraq against Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
The Dons are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign but the Press and Journal understands Farji is not a player under consideration at Pittodrie.

Celtic legend and Lisbon Lion John Clark dies aged 84
Celtic great John Clark, who was part of Jock Stein's team that won the European Cup in 1967, has died at the age of 84. The Parkhead club announced Clark's passing on Monday. Clark made more than 300 appearances for Celtic, enjoying huge success on the pitch, and worked for the club as a player, coach and later kit man. The former defender won 12 major honours as a Celtic player but will forever be remembered as part of the Lisbon Lions side that defeated Inter Milan to become the first British team to win the European Cup. Clark was an ever-present for Celtic that season as they won an unprecedented quadruple, and along with his team-mates he enjoyed iconic status with the club's support. Having made his debut in 1959, Clark left the club in 1971 but returned a few years later as a coach before linking up with Lisbon Lions captain Billy McNeill as his assistant at Aberdeen and then back at Celtic. He had a spell as manager in his own right, taking charge of Cowdenbeath, Stranraer and Clyde, before returning to Celtic in the 1990s to work as kit man for the next two decades. Celtic chairman Peter Lawwell paid tribute to Clark on Monday, describing him as 'a hero'. 'John's passing represents a massive loss to his own family and of course a huge loss to the wider Celtic family,' Lawwell wrote. 'A very dear friend and colleague, John was actually a hero to me and so many others, someone who achieved the greatest feat of all in club football but did so, along with his great team mates, with such grace and humility. 'That famous day in Lisbon, which John was such an integral part of, changed our club forever. Ever since, each player who has passed through our club has stood on the shoulders of giants and John was certainly one of those giants.' 'John gave his life to Celtic both as a player and on our staff in a variety of his roles and his contribution to our great club over so many decades is immeasurable. 'John was a fantastic husband, father and grandfather. Such a warm, gentle, and unassuming man. It was an absolute privilege to have known John. Rightly he will forever be regarded as one of Celtics greatest ever servants. 'He will be someone we will all miss so dearly and we send all our love, our thoughts and prayers to John's family.' Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers shared his sadness at Clark's passing, saying: ''Greatness' is a word people throw around, but for John Clark it is a very fitting tribute. 'John was instrumental in delivering our greatest day ever and his achievement is forever etched in Celtic's proud history. 'John's continued presence at Celtic across so many decades I know served as an absolute inspiration to so many players, managers and staff, including myself very much. 'To have him with us, as part of the club for so long has been a tremendous privilege for us all, it meant so much to us. Through his knowledge, his wisdom and his true love for Celtic, John has made such an important contribution to the club.' 'I know John was loved so dearly by his family, by everyone at the club and our supporters. We will all miss him so much.' Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson added: 'I would like to offer all our sincere and heartfelt condolences to John's family on such a sad day. 'In losing John, we have all lost a dear friend, such a fine man and someone who gave Celtic everything over such a long time. 'In a sense John was Celtic, on and off the pitch across so many years, contributing so much to our success at all times. 'While John was one of our greatest, he never saw himself as that, his own humility never allowing him to do so. 'The whole Celtic family will mourn John's loss together, supporters and colleagues alike. We will ensure that we give John's family every support at such a difficult time.' Bojan Miovski transfer rules put Celtic on notice as Maeda doubles down and £9m defender timeline set
Business is kicking off at Celtic Park with Brendan Rodgers not stopping with the imminent arrival of Benjamin Nygren Celtic have been told exactly how much they will need to pay to snap up Bojan Miovski this summer. The former Aberdeen striker has endured a disappointing spell with Girona - netting just two goals for the La Liga outfit following his £6.8million exit from Pittodrie. His disappointing form has lead to reports in Spain suggesting he is a contender to be sold by the club as they look to balance the books in line with La Liga's strict financial rules. AS name-checked Celtic as an interested party in the North Macedonia striker this summer with a fee in the region of £5million floated. Girona sporting director Quique Cárcel admits the club would like to recoup what they paid for any outgoing stars - but conceded they must be "realistic" over deals for their fringe men. He told Ara:"We have people under contract. Football isn't that easy when it comes to changes, making a player leave or another arrive. "That's why there's a salary cap. We don't want to sell at a loss, and what we want is to sign cheaply, like the rest of the clubs. "We've planned an idea of what we'd like to execute, but what we must be realistic and work with common sense." That could leave suitors like Celtic to match the £6.8million forked out to their Scottish Premiership rivals last summer. The striker has vented his frustration over his season in Spain - with Girona tumbling from surprise title contenders to relegation scrappers in the space of 12 months. In an interview in his homeland he said: 'As a footballer, I always pick my clubs based on my style of play, and Girona was the best option for me. "It is important to note, it was not the best financial offer I got. But, as a player, my priority is to develop my game and be at a club where I will play regularly. 'Girona played attacking football. As a striker, I thought that I should join a team that created at least six or seven clear chances for the striker to score. "But unfortunately, that was not the case this season and it was the complete opposite compared to last.' A defender also appears to be on the Celtic shopping list with Hayato Inamura linked with a switch - with a bid for Red Star Belgrade defender Veljko Milosavljevic rejected. While the Serbian side are reportedly holding out for a £9million fee with PSG and Everton said to be chasing a deal, Meridian Sport claim that the club are unwilling to sell this summer and will push a deal for the 17-year-old wonderkid until the winter window. In terms of outgoings, Daizen Maeda may be gathering interest this summer but he has already hinted he is keen to stay at Celtic Park. And the 27-year-old has doubled down as he talked up his life in Glasgow, telling Sportiva:"I've been here for three and a half years now. I know the people around me, so I think it's a very comfortable place to live. "I don't speak English but I feel like if I were to have everyday conversations and things like that, I'd still be okay. It's really just about communication. I'm doing my best."

Man Utd suffering from £400m mess that Ruben Amorim's summer signings must fix
Despite Manchester United having a hefty transfer budget to reclaim their spot amongst England's footballing elite, recruitment has been a significant hurdle. The Red Devils have struggled to maintain consistent success since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, but it's not for want of effort. Without a Premier League title since the 2012/13 season, the club has been on the hunt for that elusive 21st league victory, splashing out colossal sums of money in the process. After cycling through managers like David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho, United entrusted the reins to club icon Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He made a splash in his first full season, shelling out over £200million on Daniel James, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Bruno Fernandes. However, it's the five-year period from the summer of 2020 that has seen the club - who've spent over £400m during this time - experience a historic plummet, culminating in their 15th-placed finish last season, their worst league position since the 1973/74 season. Solskjaer approved the signings of Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles, and Facundo Pellistri in 2020. Van de Beek cost £35m and only played 62 matches for the club before departing for an initial fee of just £423,000 (€500,000). In his final and most significant transfer window at the club, the Norwegian legend brought Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, splashed out £34million on World Cup champion Raphael Varane, and forked out a staggering £73m for Jadon Sancho. The Englishman arrived with a glowing reputation from his stint at Borussia Dortmund but failed to replicate his German form. Sancho, 25, eventually fell out of favour with Solskjaer's successor, Erik ten Hag, who relegated him from the first-team in the 2023/24 season. He was subsequently loaned out to Chelsea last season after being deemed surplus to requirements by Amorim and is expected to leave the club once again. Like Solskjaer, Ten Hag received strong backing in the transfer market as he raided the Eredivisie, signing Tyrell Malacia for £13m and Lisandro Martinez for £46m from his former club Ajax. He also made Antony the second-most expensive player in United's history, spending £81m to secure him. The Brazilian may have had a promising start, scoring three goals in his first three games, but he managed just nine more goals in his next 93 games, earning him the dishonour of being one of the worst signings in Premier League history. He was loaned out to Real Betis in January and is likely to be one of the players leaving United permanently. The 2023/24 transfer dealings of United are something they continue to pay the price for. The big-money signings of Mason Mount (£55m), Andre Onana (£43m) and Rasmus Hojlund (£64m) have all failed to hit the mark, with the striker and goalkeeping positions expected to be bolstered this summer. Despite United actively searching the managerial market to potentially replace Ten Hag following his FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, he remained at the helm as he once again splashed the cash. Among the likes of Matthijs De Ligt, Manuel Ugarte, and Leny Yoro, it was the £36m spent on Joshua Zirkzee that left fans feeling deflated after a disappointing debut season at Old Trafford. The forward netted a paltry seven goals, with just three of them coming in the Premier League. There are several areas Amorim is looking to strengthen and he has filled one void so far after signing Matheus Cunha for £62.5m from Wolves earlier this month. The Portuguese boss is also a huge fan of Bryan Mbeumo and Viktor Gyokeres as he looks to address United's goal-scoring woes. A replacement for Onana could be in the pipeline this summer in what could turn out to be the most crucial summer in United's recent history - or just another huge dump of money after seeing in excess of £400m go down the drain.
