Lennon Miller faces 'exciting but nervous' time as he considers next move
Lennon Miller's dad says it's an exciting time for the Motherwell star as he considers his future but admits his son is nervous about choosing his next move. Lee Miller, who played for Aberdeen, Dundee United and Falkirk among others in a long career, says all the boxes have to be ticked to give Lennon the best opportunity to continue developing. The 18-year-old was Motherwell's stand-out player this season, captained the team and won both major Young Player of the Year awards before winning his first Scotland cap in the recent friendly against Iceland. His star has been on the rise for some time, and it's expected that he will leave Fir Park this summer to take the next step in a career that could take him to the very top of the game. New Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou has already said that he is planning for life without the midfielder. 'I think as a footballer and parent of a footballer, there's always decision to make,' said Miller. 'Lennon's next move is so important. 'A lot of players will get sucked into just moving to a massive club and saying 'I've arrived'. 'But there needs to be, and there has been, a lot of thought process about his next move because it's a development move again. 'Everything so far has gone to plan, and it's what we kind of planned out for him in terms of playing lots of games for the first team and doing well. And it's on him. There was a pathway there for him at Motherwell. 'The next one is so important. He has to play. He has to develop. He has to then kick on again. 'I think everybody saw that with Scotland. No disrespect to Motherwell players but once he's round about better players, top-class elite players, he can kick on again in my opinion. 'I think he has that inner belief. And it's not arrogance, just a belief. 'He just wants to play football.' Miller said Lennon has remained calm amidst all the speculation, and hasn't let the focus affect his game. And while Motherwell haven't received any concrete offers for the midfielder yet there are stories in the media about his future almost on a daily basis. 'He's back to Motherwell on Monday,' Miller said. 'Nothing has happened as yet. Yes, there's speculation and talk on Twitter etc but it's a different club every day. 'It's quite funny watching it and seeing how it's progressing but essentially nobody has made any bids for him 'Yes, he would like to further his career down the line but we'll just need to see what happens.' He acknowledged the number of players now plying their trade at top-level clubs across Europe and wouldn't rule out following in those steps. But most important is finding the right place to continue playing on a regular basis. 'It's so difficult to say 'This club are interested, that will be a good one for him',' he said. 'Is that a good environment for him to be in? Is there a pathway? 'Are you going to play there? Are there players ahead of you? 'There's so many different things that come into the equation. There's so many different layers. 'Listen, clubs have been interested in Lennon since he was 14. There's always been talk and people wanting to take him here, there and everywhere. 'We've always had a focus on stay at Motherwell, do your time, and see where it takes you from there. 'So it's exciting times but also really nervous. 'You want to make the right decision and give him the best advice. 'But ultimately it's his decision at the end of the day.' According to the Daily Record, Derek McInnes is considering a shock move for former Hibs and Aberdeen star Kevin Nisbet. The Scotland striker has returned to Millwall after his Dons loan spell came to a close. It's claimed that McInnes has been a fan of Nisbet's for some time and wouldn't say no to trying to lure him back to Edinburgh. McInnes said today that he's in constant discussion with Shankland and his agent over a new deal. But the new Hearts boss insists time is running out and that he wants a resolution soon. He told Sky Sports: "I'm in constant dialogue with Lawrence, spoke to his agents as well several times through the last few weeks but Lawrence has obviously got a lot to consider. "We think we're a really strong option for him, whether we're the best option in Lawrence's eyes we've got to wait and see but there'll come a point really that we need to draw a line under it and Lawrence has got to look at looking after him and I've got to look after Hearts. "Hopefully we can find a solution because he is a player that I think can really thrive with us at Hearts. "He's shown in the time here how important he is and you try and not let players like that leave the door without putting up the best fight you can and we're in the fight for him. FOUR to join Rangers before Champions League Plus Aarons impact on Tavernier REVEALED "I believe we're a really strong option for Lawrence, I believe we're the best option for him at this moment, he's got the World Cup to try and get involved in at the end of next season. 'There are loads of reasons why Lawrence could see this as a good option for him. "Hopefully as I say we're his best option and at the minute we're in the fight to keep him. "I always feel deadlines are not always healthy and sometimes can be a bit antagonistic but there's been enough conversations with Lawrence. "There'll come a point where he has to move on and try and secure his future and likewise I need to make sure that we secure our squad going forward but we're not at that stage yet. "But sooner rather than later really to try and get that resolved because I want clarity in what I'm dealing with and I'm sure Lawrence is wanting clarity on his future as well." 4 Nisbet celebrates scoring the winner for Hibs in a 2023 derby clash against Hearts Credit: Andrew Barr Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Aberdeen bathe in Celtic tears and rip into Rangers 'corruption' with astonishing fixture announcement troll
The hilarious clip has gone down a storm with Dons and rival supporters in stitches Aberdeen have rinsed their eleven top flight rivals with a hilarious mickey-taking montage to announce their fixtures for the new Premiership season. The Dons shared a clip on their Instagram page which has gone down a storm on social media - even with some opposition fans. But Jimmy Thelin will be hoping it doesn't backfire by getting their rivals fired up when they come to meet. For it includes rubbing salt into the fresh wounds of Celtic with a clip of Hoops skipper Callum McGregor in tears after their Scottish Cup penalty shootout win just last month. The compilation lists the dates for the games against each of their rivals in the first part of the season, with the Hoops the visitors to Pittodrie on matchday two. And for their game against bitter rivals Rangers at Ibrox on November 1 they played the controversial clip of John Brown claiming a decision not to award Nico Raskin a goal at Easter Road last season was 'corrupt'. Rangers were fined £3000 by the Scottish Football Association for the comment and blasted the authorities in a scathing statement. For Dundee United they showed a series of tweets from the Tannadice club talking about qualifying for the Europa League - only for Aberdeen's Hampden heroics to relegate them to the Conference League. They ended with a clip of Spanish comedian Juan Joya Borja, better known as El Ristas (The Giggles) and his famous laugh. The Tangerines rivals Dundee had new boss Steven Pressley and his admission that if the Dark Blues were looking for a boss to win silverware then WASN'T their man, which saw him criticised. And for new boys Falkirk it was a clip of some young Bairns ultras which was mocked, St Mirren and images of them allowing Celtic to take over their club shop for a day while Hibs was a clip of Jamie McGrath, moving to Easter Road, holding aloft the Scottish Cup as fans changed 'Hibs are falling apart again.' All fans were loving it, with one saying: 'Fair play, that is class,' but another added: 'Bold. What could possibly go wrong?'
