on Wednesday visited Kanpur to review the preparations for PM Narendra Modi's visit to the city on May 30.
The PM's public meeting will take place on the grounds of the Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology.
Yogi inspected the ground and reviewed a detailed presentation on preparations, led by Kanpur DM Jitendra Pratap Singh, at the Joint Commissioner Industries auditorium.
Yogi ordered a special cleanliness drive in the city to keep the roads tidy.He instructed officials to ensure seamless arrangements, including parking facilities, availability of drinking water, sanitation, and urinals at the event venue. He also directed that a special cleanliness drive be carried out to clear roads and remove overgrown vegetation.
To avoid traffic congestion, the CM emphasized the need for a well-structured traffic and parking management plan.
PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore. A key highlight of the visit will be the inauguration and laying of the foundation stone for five units of the Khurja, Obra, and Jawaharpur Thermal Power Plants—critical projects that will significantly strengthen the power infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.Yogi termed these projects as milestones in UP's journey towards energy sufficiency.

He said the increased electricity supply will play a pivotal role in meeting both industrial and domestic energy demands across the state.PM Modi's visit was earlier scheduled on Apr 24 but was cancelled in wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Chief Minister also directed Metro officials to regularly organize free rides for various groups, including workers, retired employees, sanitation workers, meritorious students, and members of civil society organizations.
He said such initiatives would help popularize Metro services as an efficient and inclusive mode of public transport.
In a security review, police commissioner Akhil Kumar presented a comprehensive plan for the public meeting. The CM instructed that emergency response, traffic regulation, and anti-drone measures must be robust and fail-proof. He also emphasized close coordination with the SPG, NSG, and IB to ensure electric and fire safety.
In a call to foster a patriotic spirit, the Chief Minister urged public representatives to organise a Tiranga Yatra on May 30, culminating in a peaceful and dignified manner at the public meeting venue.

Shah appealed to Naxalites to surrender and join the development journey of Chhattisgarh. He assured that graduating from NFSU under the Modi government will guarantee employment. The NFSU's permanent campus is expected to be fully developed within three years, opening up vast career opportunities for Chhattisgarh's youth in forensic science. Margao: BJP state president Damodar Naik on Sunday attributed his party's consecutive electoral defeats in the Fatorda constituency to demographic changes brought about by the 2012 delimitation exercise. He said that while the redrawing of boundaries severed the party's traditional strongholds, the minority-dominated areas that largely comprised the Fatorda constituency remained beyond BJP's electoral reach. Naik was elected MLA of Fatorda for two terms before losing to incumbent Vijai Sardesai since the 2012 assembly polls. Naik said that the delimitation process fundamentally altered Fatorda's electoral landscape. The constituency lost significant portions of Gogol and Comba — areas where BJP traditionally enjoyed strong support — which were redistributed to neighbouring Curtorim and Margao constituencies respectively. Naik drew parallels between Fatorda and other Catholic-dominated constituencies in South Goa where BJP has struggled to make inroads. Bengaluru Metro's loss is BMTC' gain on NICE Road
Bengaluru: With the long-delayed Yellow Line of Namma Metro to Electronics City still not open to public, thousands of commuters are turning to BMTC's NICE Road express bus services, which have seen a sharp rise in ridership and earnings in recent months. Launched in Dec 2023, BMTC services along NICE Road corridor began with 62,000 passengers. Today, they attract more than 4 lakh commuters each month. The corporation is now operating 53 buses across 17 routes on NICE Road, with daily ridership exceeding 13,000 passengers. Revenue has also seen a notable jump, with earnings per kilometre doubling in just over a year to Rs 58.8 from Rs 26.1. Among the services gaining traction is the recently introduced non-stop express route covering 48km between Madavara and Electronics City. BMTC chief traffic manager (operations) GT Prabhakar Reddy said the services have outpaced other major corridors within city limits in terms of popularity. "...Responding to this demand, we've added more routes and buses. We've also introduced a direct link from Tavarekere to Electronics City and are planning to roll out 10 AC buses on this route," he said. NICE Road buses now connect key IT hubs via routes originating in Madavara, Vijayanagar TTMC, Bidadi, Kengeri, Banashankari, Basaveshwara Nagar, and other residential areas. Commuters cite reduced travel time and avoidance of city-centre congestion as key reasons for choosing NICE corridor. A one-way ticket from Madavara to Electronics City costs Rs 76, including a Rs 30 toll charge levied by NICE. Although BMTC had earlier requested the toll be reduced or waived for public transport buses, the proposal did not receive any favourable response from NICE authorities. Several passengers also use Metro to reach Madavara before switching to buses to complete their journey to Electronics City. This seamless multimodal shift has become increasingly necessary, as BMRCL continues to miss deadlines for the Yellow Line, connecting RV Road and Bommasandra. Despite spending nearly Rs 7,000 crore on the 19-km elevated stretch, the Metro line — initially expected to launch in June with three trains — is yet to receive third-party safety clearance for its signalling system. With no official launch date in sight and repeated delays, public confidence in BMRCL's timeline continues to erode.
