Outlander fans left puzzled as they spot multiple 'inconsistencies' ahead of final season

Daily Record20-05-2025

Outlanders fans flocked to Reddit to voice their concerns about one particular storyline surrounding Murtagh Fraser.
Outlander's highly anticipated eighth and final season is looming with the show expected to air in late 2025 or early 2026. However, while the excitement is building for the grand finale, some die-hard fans are still hung up on previous plot "inconsistencies" surrounding their favourite characters which have left them puzzled.
Fans rushed to the social media site Reddit to voice their concerns with the storyline surrounding Jocasta Cameron and Murtagh Fraser's romantic reunion. In the Starz show, the pair develop a romantic relationship despite the fact that Murtagh is supposed to be madly in love with Ellen, Jocasta's sister.

This relationship is hugely different from what happens in the original Outlander books, written by Diana Gabaldon. In the novels, Murtagh actually dies at Culloden but in the series, he lives and his story continues, which is when his relationship with Jocasta develops.

Murtagh eventually dies at the Battle of Alamance in the fifth season, the Irish Star reports.
One fan took to Reddit to remark: "I would give myself a headache if I stopped to consider all of the inconsistencies they never thought about. Bless you for having the stomach for it.
"That said, the the whole Jocasta/Murtagh 'reunion' when he brought Brianna to River Run made no sense.
"Murtagh was a Fraser and wouldn't have been in the habit of hanging out at Leoch, but he attended the Gathering where he tried to court Ellen. Jocasta was already married off and gone by then. They never would have met before."
A second echoed: "Maybe Murtagh visited Miss Fitzgibbons."

A third replied: "Not impossible, but it wouldn't explain Jocasta acting like he's her long lost love."
A fourth agreed: "Yes, her remembering his hands sounded as if they grew up together."

A fifth chimed in: "Even once Jocasta was married I suppose she still could have gone to the Gathering or otherwise visited her sister Ellen?
"Jamie identifies him as a Fraser by surname but his aunt by marriage Mrs. Fitzgibbons is at Leoch.
"When we met him he's traveling/living with the MacKenzies intermittently.

"While obviously that's for Jamie's benefit, none of the other men behave as though he's an outsider or a guest at Leoch's table, to the point that Claire has to be told he's not just another Leoch MacKenzie.
"I always assumed he had some marginal connection to the Leoch MacKenzies like a grandparent."
In other news, several Outlander stars have joined forces for a new venture just last month.

Steven Cree, who played Old Ian Murray, Duncan Lacroix, who portrayed Murtagh Fitzgibbons, and Claire Sermonne, known for her role of Louise de Rohan, have all featured in the latest music video from fellow Outlander actor Andrew Gower's band Gustaffson.
The Outlander trio, along with a host of other celebrities including Line of Duty's Leanne Best, David Gyasi of The Diplomat, and Arty Froushan from Carnival Row, have all shared their previously unseen audition self-tapes, which are shown in the music video for Gustaffson's new single Closer from their debut album Black and White Movie.

Antiques Road Trip star opens up on daughter's heartbreaking health battle and family 'struggle'

BBC Antiques Road Trip star Phillip Serrell said daughter Clementine's battle has been 'difficult' and 'hard to understand' Antiques Road Trip star Philip Serrell has opened up about his daughter's heartbreaking battle with anorexia. The BBC expert has been open and honest in the past about Clementine's health struggles, despite finding it hard to understand at first. Now that she's in recovery, Clementine wants to raise awareness and support others who are facing the same challenges she's experienced. ‌ Phillip shared his own struggles to comprehend what she was going through. He said: 'A s a dad, it's been very difficult, I've found it very hard to understand. ‌ "I've spent 62 years enjoying eating and it's very hard not to say 'Just eat, it's easy'." He also reflected on the progress his daughter made, admitting she's 'come through this on her own'. But Phillip candidly admitted his family are not out of the woods yet, and there are still tough situations to navigate. He added: 'Christmas a very difficult time of year because people suffering with anorexia get booze and food shoved at them - and that's very hard to deal with." Phillip's daughter first stepped into the public spotlight with her journey back in 2020 when she took to social media to post a comparison image of herself. In one of the pictures, she was at the height of the devastating illness, and in the second recent snap, she looked happier and healthier and working towards healing, as reports Devon Live. ‌ Brave Clementine aimed to empower others with her words, and said: "Never think you can't escape." She then went on to detail her battles with anorexia and bulimia, explaining she thinks the catalyst was the end of a significant relationship. She believes the internal turmoil led to feeling disassociated from her life. She disclosed that in 2011, she made herself vomit 'about eight times' on New Year's Eve, waking up on New Year's Day "full of shame and utter self loathing". The next year, she started suffering from anorexia. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. She went on: "That was the worst year, and Christmas, ever. It was just pure hell, with no escape. I was TOTALLY consumed by the eating disorder, addicted to it, addicted to counting calories and 'burning off' what I could. I weighed EVERYTHING. I counted the calories in EVERYTHING. I hated what I'd become but I was petrified of giving up that addiction." She said her journey to recovery has felt painfully slow at times as she added: "After a long, and at times sooooo painfully slow, recovery I'm here, where I am now... I will always talk about eating disorders, and I'll always be honest. I don't post things like this for any praise or anything like that but to show others that you can get your life back." ‌ She said she is now committed to raising awareness about eating disorders. She went on: "I will always talk about eating disorders, and I'll always be honest. I don't post things like this for any praise or anything like that but to show others that you can get your life back. And also because I genuinely believe EDs are still very misunderstood and that kills me a bit. 'This is a hard time to go through, especially if you have an eating disorder but know that there can be life on the other side. And know that you really are strong enough to get there." Kelsey Parker's baby name and beautiful meaning after devastating stillbirth

Kelsey Parker told fans earlier today the "earth-shattering" news of the loss of her son. Kelsey Parker shared the devastating news that she has lost her third child after an "earth-shattering" stillbirth. Kelsey issued the heartbreaking update earlier today after announcing she was expecting her first child with partner Will Lindsay in January. The podcast host posted an emotional poem dedicated to her son, and revealed she and Will had decided to name him Phoenix. ‌ According to the Oxford English dictionary, as writes the Mirror, the word Phoenix as a noun is described as: "A bird resembling an eagle but with sumptuous red and gold plumage, which was said to live for five or six hundred years in the deserts of Arabia, before burning itself to ashes on a funeral pyre ignited by the sun and fanned by its own wings, only to rise from its ashes with renewed youth to live through another such cycle." ‌ Another definition states "A person or thing of unique excellence or matchless beauty; a paragon." Legends of the Phoenix are linked to stories of renewal, resurrection, and immortality. The mum of two told Instagram followers earlier today (Sunday, June 22) as she posted a poem dedicated to her son. Alongside the three-verse poem Kelsey shared, entitled 'Born Sleeping, Forever Loved, she said: 'Phoenix Parker-Lindsay, you will forever be loved." ‌ Kelsey, who hosts the Mum's The Word! podcast with Danny Jones' wife Georgia, then shared a second message asking for space while she processes her grief with her loved ones. She added: "Before I receive an influx of lovely messages and heartfelt wishes, I wanted to just say that I truly appreciate everything you are all going to say and share. "But with the news being so raw, I would really like to ensure that we as a family are given space and time to process this devastating and earth-shattering news. I love you all and thank you for your understanding and space. Love always, Kelsey, Will, and the Parker Family." ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Friends and followers joined together to send her love and pay tribute. GMB host Charlotte Hawkins said: "Oh no Kelsey I'm so sorry, just heartbreaking. Sending you so much love." Former Love Island star Olivia Bowen said:" Kelsey I'm so sorry. Thinking of you all and sending you so much love." Kelsey is already mum to daughter Aureila, five, and son Bodhi, four, who she shared with her late husband Tom Parker - the beloved The Wanted singer who tragically passed away in 2022 at the age of 33 following a battle with cancer. ‌ In January she opened up in an interview with the Mirror and revealed her excitement about the pregnancy - and that it had been a "happy accident". She said she was preparing Aurelia and Bodhi for the new arrival, and spoke about telling Tom's family. Kelsey said Tom's mum Noreen had given her blessing as she added: "All I care about is that both our families and Tom's family are happy. Noreen is the most amazing lady. After Tom passed, she said to me, 'as long as you're happy Kels, whatever you do, we will always support you and be happy for you.' "We've all been through so much together. But I'm here and bringing another baby into the world."
