6 Vehicles With the Most 3rd Row Legroom

Plenty of space to comfortably stretch out Three-row SUVs and minivans exist for a reason: big families with tall people need space to stretch out. Not every three-row vehicle, however, is suited for these duties. Remember afterthoughts like the now-dead Lexus RX 350L? It had a mere 23.5 inches of third-row legroom—way too small for any adult to sit comfortably. Even worse is the current Mitsubishi Outlander, which offers a paltry 18.7 inches of legroom in the third row. Gah, what's the point? Previous Pause Next Unmute 0:00 / 0:09 Audi A5 replaces A4: So, what's changed? Watch More Thankfully, there's good news: there are truly spacious choices on the market today that can comfortably accommodate a normal-sized adult in the third row. Whether you're ferrying teenagers to sports practice, loading up for a long road trip, or just need room for the occasional extended family gathering, these six vehicles stand out for their generous third-row legroom. 2025 Lincoln Navigator 2025 Lincoln Navigator 3rd Row Legroom: 43.5 inches The 2025 Lincoln Navigator ($99,995) is one of the premium luxury American SUV offerings today, and it's at the front of the pack when it comes to power, technology, and downright cavernous space for all. The Lincoln Navigator doesn't just impress with its luxury trimmings and commanding street presence—it also offers a best-in-class 43.5 inches of legroom in the third row. It also happens to have the most third-row legroom in the industry. That's enough for even the tallest passengers to relax without feeling crunched in the back. Plus, its plush seats and high-quality materials ensure that comfort extends beyond sheer space. Every Navigator is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine good for 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. 2025 Toyota Sienna 2021 Toyota Sienna XLE AWD — Source: Toyota 3rd Row Legroom: 38.7 inches The 2025 Toyota Sienna ($39,185) stands head and shoulders above the rest of the minivan segment thanks to standard hybrid power, available all-wheel drive, and 38.7 inches of legroom in its third-row seats that can comfortably seat the tallest kids and adults. It remains one of the best minivan people haulers out there and a brilliant shuttle for your kids and their teammates when you've got a full post-game gang to move. Standard features like 17-inch alloy wheels, dual power sliding doors, an 8-inch color touchscreen (12.3-inch optional), wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, and Toyota's Safety Sense 2.0 suite that includes great tech like adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning with steering assist make the Sienna a tremendous overall package. With a sprawling 36.7 inches of third-row legroom, these full-size SUVs offer more room in the way back than some vehicles provide in the second row. If you need cavernous cargo space and the ability to seat seven or eight adults in comfort, the Suburban and Yukon XL deliver. The 2025 Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL get a swath of engine choices: a 5.3L V8, a 6.2L V8, and a 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel inline-six, all paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. 2025 Cadillac Escalade ESV 2025 Cadillac Escalade ESV — Source: Cadillac 3rd Row Legroom: 36.6 inches The Cadillac Escalade ESV isn't just big; it's all about American grandeur that combines opulence with incredible real-world utility. Longer than the standard Escalade, third-row passengers in the ESV are treated to a whopping 36.6 inches of legroom, way more than the standard Escalade's 34.9. Even tall grown-ups and your oversized offspring can ride in comfort on long trips, so there should be no grumbling from back there. With its luxurious appointments and high-tech features, the Escalade ESV makes third-row seating a genuine pleasure rather than a punishment like so many other would-be three-row SUVs. All gas-powered Escalades get a 6.2-liter V8 engine under the hood that churns out 420 horsepower and can tow up to 8,100 pounds. 2025 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer — Source: Jeep 3rd Row Legroom: 36.6 inches The 2025 Jeep Grand Wagoneer ($91,945) is the brand's big dog, but it's not just about off-road capability. The Grand Wagoneer redefines American luxury with its refined exterior and upscale cabin. But it doesn't skimp on practicality either. With 36.6 inches of third-row legroom, this Jeep ensures that adults in the way-back won't feel like an afterthought. It's a seriously capable family hauler with plenty of style to match. Standard features include 22-inch wheels, perimeter approach lights, power remote tilt-down exterior mirrors, power liftgate, panoramic sunroof, heated/ventilated 1st- and 2nd-row seats, power-adjustable pedals, 19-speaker premium audio, and 12-inch central touchscreen infotainment system. Every Grand Wagoneer gets a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine under the hood that delivers 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque, so it'll move all three rows of passengers with authority. 2025 Chrysler Pacifica 2025 Chrysler Pacifica — Source: FCA 3rd Row Legroom: 36.5 inches The Chrysler Pacifica might be the only model in the brand's lineup right now (the Voyager is just a lower-trimmed version), but it's worthy thanks to tremendous space and ride comfort. The sole American minivan in the running has long been a go-to choice for families, and it's easy to see why. With 36.5 inches of legroom in the third row, it's ready to handle carpool duty, vacation trips, and everything in between. The Pacifica's Stow 'n Go seating system only adds to its practicality, offering flexibility that's hard to beat. The Pacifica can also be had in plug-in hybrid trim with optional all-wheel drive, making it even more practical. Engine choices include a 3.6-liter V6 engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission good for 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, and the PHEV with a V6 engine combined with electric motors for a total of 260 horsepower. Final thoughts There's not much point in having a three-row vehicle if there isn't enough space for more than just small kids. Those kids are going to grow, and you will also need to transport adults at times. A spacious third row can make all the difference between suffering and comfort. The good news is that many automakers recognize this need, and there are excellent choices out there. Whether it's a huge SUV or a hybrid minivan, 36+ inches of rear legroom transform the third row into a desirable spot versus automotive nosebleed seats that are for those who draw the short straw. Tariffs push Mitsubishi to raise U.S. vehicle prices by 2.1%

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Mitsubishi Motors is the latest automaker to raise prices in the United States, joining a growing list of car companies adjusting to higher costs triggered by new U.S. import tariffs. The Japanese carmaker said this week it will increase U.S. vehicle prices by an average of 2.1 percent, starting June 18. The move comes after President Donald Trump's administration imposed a 25 percent tariff in April on car imports from Japan and other nations — a decision that briefly halted Mitsubishi's U.S. deliveries. The company confirmed that shipments to dealers, which had been suspended at ports, resumed last week. "This is a direct result of our regular and ongoing review of pricing in order to ensure we are in line with segment expectations," Mitsubishi said in a statement. The company's U.S. sales have been climbing, with a strong performance in 2024 (110,000 units sold — up 26 percent from the previous year) and an 11 percent increase in the first quarter of 2025. Dealers have been informed that the suggested retail price increases won't affect vehicles already in showrooms. Mitsubishi also highlighted ongoing investment in new models and technologies, including updates to the 2025 Outlander, a new EV launch in the U.S., and a potential jointly developed vehicle with Nissan to be built domestically. In May 2025, other carmakers also responded to the tariff pressure: Subaru raised U.S. prices by up to $2,055 on some models, while Ford hiked prices by up to $2,000 on three vehicles produced in Mexico.

Review: The Glassmaker by Tracy Chevalier

Much of historical fiction features stories of love and war. This is true of, to name a couple of books, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah that chronicles the story of two sisters during WWII and Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, which is a romance fantasy set across the 18th and 20th centuries. With its unique premise and execution, The Glassmaker by Tracy Chevalier is unlike many others in this genre. This is the story of the Rossos, a family from Murano, an island situated across the lagoon from Venice, which has a long history of glass making. The Rossos have been making glass for centuries and for generations. But when the head of the family dies in an accident, Orsola Rosso, the eldest daughter must step in and work with glass to save her family from ruin. Traditionally, within that community at least, women are not meant to work with glass. So Orsola must start from scratch. She must find a teacher and learn how to make beads in secret because her creations need to be perfect to be accepted by men. The story is interesting enough but its strength lies in the infusion of magical realism and how it plays with the concept of time alla Veneziana. Chevalier takes the story of the Rossos through monumental events like the plague, the Renaissance, the French Revolution and Napoleon's conquest of Italy, all way through the World Wars and up to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown. Along with the rise and fall of the family, the author expertly showcases the rise and fall of Venice and its power in the world of trade. And it's all to do with shifts in time. 'People who make things also have an ambiguous relationship with time. Painters, writers, wood-carvers, knitters, weavers and, yes, glassmakers: creators often enter an absorbed state that psychologists call flow, in which hours pass without their noticing,' writes Chevalier With sea routes to India and newer markets being discovered, the importance and significance of Venice and its artisans begins to decline, forcing the glassmakers of Murano to adapt or pivot to the changes. Readers also view the progress of time as they watch the protagonist Orsola grow up. From a naive girl of 17 she is transformed into an accomplished and respected artisan whose creations not only manage to keep the family afloat but also inspire other girls to dabble in the manly world of glass making. Chevalier takes the reader right into Orsola's mind as she navigates life experiencing her first love, heartbreak and grief. Her struggles to ensure that her family is unscathed during the plague quarantines ably showcase the horrors of that period in history. Hers is a fleshed out character with a full breadth of emotions. Through everything, her dedication to her family shines through and the reader cannot help but be impressed at all she does to keep everyone together through various hardships. Deeply atmospheric, Chevalier's writing, which is interspersed with Italian phrases, is effortless in the way it captures the readers attention and transports them to the centre of the story even as they are taken on a tour of Italy over 500 years However, the pacing is a bit slow and it might be difficult to read The Glassmaker from end to end without a break. And while the interest of fans of magical realism might not flag, others might struggle with all that skipping across time. Still, expertly researched and well written, this is an absolute must read for lovers of historical fiction. Rutvik Bhandari is an independent writer. He lives in Pune. 'Bad weather': Outlander star Sam Heughan stunned by Aussie winter during Bondi Beach stroll

Scottish actor Sam Heughan has been left gobsmacked by Australia's version of winter, filming himself enjoying the sunshine on Sydney's Bondi Beach and joking about the "freezing" conditions. The 45-year-old actor, best known for playing Jamie Fraser in the historical drama Outlander, is currently in Australia for the Supanova Comic Con & Gaming expo, which kicks off in Sydney this weekend. Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Heughan shared a video strolling along Bondi's boardwalk beneath clear skies, the waves rolling behind him. Despite temperatures dipping to a brisk six degrees and peaking at 18, the Scotsman appeared unfazed, especially compared to the icy winters back home. "Winter. Winter in Australia," Heughan said in disbelief, dressed in a button-up shirt and sunglasses. "In Scotland, we have snow in winter. It's dark. Ice. The only ice here is apparently an iceberg, but it's a swimming pool." Back in Balmaclellan, Scotland, Heughan's hometown, temperatures were ironically milder, reaching a top of 22 degrees despite it being summer. As he struggled playfully to button his shirt, the actor quipped, "I'm trying to do up my shirt because it's that cold," before teasing his next stop: Perth. "I've heard it's a very long way away, and I hope it's just as cold and miserable, because I hate winter," he joked. In the caption, Heughan wrote: "Can't wait for more of this 'bad' weather…" Fans and friends quickly flooded the comments with banter, including his Outlander co-star Caitríona Balfe, who joked, "Looks like you're having a s**t time. So sorry buddy." One fan added: "The only ice is in our drinks!! Enjoy Sydney," while another wrote: "Looks terrible, all that beautiful beachfront and the freezing temps requiring an actual shirt!" Heughan is among a star-studded Supanova line-up that includes Evangeline Lilly, Billy Zane, Robert Taylor, and local favourite Lincoln Lewis. The event will hit the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre next weekend.

Why Outlander star Sam Heughan was left deeply confused by Australia's winter weather amid visit Down Under

Sam Heughan has shared his astonishment at being met with sunny weather in Australia. The Scottish actor, who is Down Under for the the Supanova Comic Con & Gaming expo, filmed an Instagram Reel on Thursday as he strolled along Sydney 's famous Bondi Beach. The 45-year-old noted the clear skies and lack of snow or ice, with Sydney's winter weather reaching a mild peak of 16 degrees Celsius the day the video was filmed. 'Winter. Winter in Australia,' Sam marvelled as he strolled along the boardwalk beside the ocean. 'In Scotland, we have snow in winter. It's dark. Ice. The only ice here is apparently an iceberg, but it's a swimming pool' he added, referring to the Bondi Icebergs pool. 'Trying to do up my shirt because it's that cold,' he joked, gesturing at the sun. Sam may have gotten more of what he expected later in the night, when temperatures dropped to seven degrees Celsius once the sun went down. Last year, Sam signed up to the celebrity dating app Raya in a bid to find love, MailOnline revealed. Despite being known for his role as the dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser in Outlander, the actor is yet to find his dream partner. Sam, who was last seen enjoying a romance with Australian model Monika Clarke in 2022, decorated his Raya profile with a slew of hunky snaps, and lists his main location as the UK. MailOnline contacted a representative for Sam Heughan for comment. Raya is a private membership community that started out as a dating app, but has since become a platform for networking and social discovery. It was launched in 2015, and can be used on iPhones and iPads for $9.99 a month. A select few are chosen to be part of the 'elite community', with the waiting list to join the app said to be in the 'thousands' and 'not even 10 per cent of those who apply get in'. Other names thought to have signed up include F1 star Lewis Hamilton, actor James Norton and footballer Jude Bellingham. Sam was previously spotted kissing model Monika two years ago, and he was also romantically linked to Twin Peaks actress Amy Shiels in 2018. Before that he was romantically linked to Into The Woods actress MacKenzie Mauzy in 2017 before they split quietly the next year, and also previously dated Cody Kennedy and Abbie Salt as well. In May 2023, Sam shared rare insight into his love life by admitting he's still looking for 'The One.' He told People: 'I've done all of the gift-giving and turning up when least expected, but, so far, I'm still looking.' He has starred on Starz series Outlander throughout its run, with the second half of its seventh season set to premiere in November 2024. Outlander is a historical drama television series based on the ongoing novel series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. It is centered around an English combat nurse named Claire Randall (Catriona Balfe) from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743. Sam also starred opposite Poldark's Eleanor Tomlinson in the steamy Channel 4 drama The Couple Next Door. The series saw Evie and her husband Pete (Alfred Enoch) moving into an upscale neighbourhood, where they met next door neighbours cop Danny (Sam) and his wife, glamorous yoga instructor Becka (Jessica De Gouw). As time goes on, these two couples get increasingly close to each other and one fateful night, become sexually entangled in a way that will change their lives forever. During filming, Eleanor and Sam worked with intimacy coordinator Vanessa Coffey. Prior to filming, the pair also knew each other through their mutual friend Caitríona Balfe, who plays Jamie's wife, Claire, in Outlander. Eleanor previously told The Radio Times: 'Sam is now one of my best friends. Every day was a joy and creating Danny and Evie's complicated and dangerous relationship was a lot of fun.
