Arsenal urged to sign 'unfairly treated' £40m Man City star

Metro4 hours ago

Arsenal have been urged to make a move for Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish this summer.
City are open to selling Grealish after he fell out of favour with Pep Guardiola last season.
Grealish, who has been omitted from City's Club World Cup squad this summer, started just seven games in the Premier League last season and was left on the bench for the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.
City have had no takers for Grealish after setting a £40 million asking price but Colin Hendry, who won the Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers in 1995, believes Arsenal should be in the running for the 29-year-old.
'It looks like Jack's City days are numbered,' Hendry told Coin Poker.

'He's been left out of the Club World Cup squad and he didn't play nearly enough football last season. It's going to be a big summer for him and he's got some big decisions to make, possibly the biggest decision of his career in terms of making sure that whichever club he decides to join next season, it's the right one for him.
'Jack is a player that I've followed for a long time. When I was working as the Blackburn academy coach, we played Villa and he was the best player on the pitch by miles. I've kind of been following him since, and he's gone and had an unbelievable career.
'I think he's unfairly treated sometimes. People have ideas about him that I don't think are true.
'You can't win what he has done and have the career he's had – getting the £100m move to City – winning the treble, without having something about you. He's been a scapegoat sometimes. More Trending
'He's an excellent footballer and now he has a decision to make. It's a great position for him to be in because he leave's City with a shed-load of medals and the opportunity to go and show everyone who he is as a player. He absolutely must pick the right club that will allow him to express himself.
'I want to see him go and prove people wrong, even though he doesn't really have anything to prove to anyone.
'Whether that is in the Premier League, with say a return to Aston Villa, or somewhere on the continent.
'Whoever gets him will be getting an unbelievable player. I actually think he could be a good addition for a team like Arsenal because they're in need of a bit more creativity.'

Benfica vs Auckland City prediction, odds and betting offer

The gulf in class showed when Auckland faced Bayern Munich and the bookies expect a similar outcome when the New Zealand side face Portuguese giants Benfica Auckland City's calamitous 10-goal thrashing to Bayern Munich are still being felt as the Kiwis gear up for their next Club World Cup clash against Benfica. The match starkly highlighted the chasm between the amateur New Zealand side and the world's football titans. Bayern Munich, without mercy, unleashed a goal storm last Sunday that left Auckland in disarray. However, it's not all doom and gloom for Auckland's financiers who are set to pocket a hefty sum from FIFA this summer. Yet, for Albert Riera and his squad, pride is at stake. They will be determined to bounce back and deliver a more commendable performance in their remaining fixtures. But here's the kicker - Benfica won't be pulling any punches in this encounter. The Portuguese giants are aware that goal difference could be a decisive factor in determining who progresses to the knockout phase. Bayern Munich is expected to dominate Group C, leaving Benfica and Boca Juniors vying for the runner-up position. Their opening match ended in a nail-biting 2-2 draw, with both teams showing resilience to recover from a 2-0 deficit amidst a game that witnessed three players sent off. This means the battle for second place could come down to who can rack up the most goals against Auckland City. Rashford's strict transfer rules leave Man Utd with one option over summer exit

Marcus Rashford is expected to be shown the Manchester United exit door this summer but the Red Devils academy graduate is rapidly running out of options for his next club Marcus Rashford might only have one Manchester United exit option left after already ruling out three Premier League rivals. The Red Devils academy graduate is fully expected to leave Old Trafford this summer after an explosive season. He was axed from the squad entirely by Ruben Amorim before joining Aston Villa on loan. Villa had a £40m option to make the deal permanent but despite his promising displays in the Midlands, they chose not to re-sign him. ‌ That has left Rashford in an uncertain position regarding his future but even then, Rashford has a list of criteria for his next club. According to the Manchester Evening News, the forward is not prepared to take a wage cut on his current £325,000-a-week package, which only a few clubs could afford. ‌ It is suggested that Rashford has already turned down moves to both Saudi Arabia and Turkey. He is open to a rival Premier League side but he does not want to move to London, which would see the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham all out of the race for his services. It is further detailed that United chiefs expect Rashford to move abroad having put a move to Barcelona at the top of his list. The Catalan giants have an interest in Rashford but are currently attempting to thrash out a deal for Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams which will stretch their finances. A loan move now looks to be the only route out of Old Trafford for Rashford this summer. And he will hope to get his future sorted soon after Ruben Amorim made his feelings about a reintegration into the squad very clear. The United boss banished the forward alongside three colleagues from the club's pre-season tour alongside Antony, Alejando Garnacho and Jadon Sancho. Explaining Rashford's initial omission back in February, Amorim said: "What I say is I couldn't put Marcus to see the way you're supposed to play football and to train the way I see it. "And sometimes you have one player who is really good with one coach and the same player with another coach is different. I just wish the best to Rashford and Unai Emery, and they can connect because he's a very good player." ‌ Where do you think Marcus Rashford should go? Share your thoughts in the comments below He added: "The case was some of the guys don't adapt the way I see football, the other guys adapt, and we are trying to build the team. It's something that you feel, as a coach and a player. "It's quite normal, it happened with a lot of coaches. The important thing is that I'm here saying it was my decision." Mbappe discharged from hospital after case of ‘acute gastroenteritis'

The 26-year-old France international missed Wednesday night's 1-1 Club World Cup draw with Al Hilal through illness, with head coach Xabi Alonso revealing he had a fever. Real Madrid subsequently confirmed Mbappe was suffering from 'an acute case of gastroenteritis' and had been admitted to hospital for further tests and treatment. Later on Thursday, the LaLiga club revealed Mbappe had been able to return to the team's training base to continue his recovery. Nuevo parte médico de Mbappé. — Real Madrid C.F. (@realmadrid) June 19, 2025 A statement on Madrid's official website said: 'Our player Kylian Mbappe was discharged from the hospital this afternoon and has returned to the Real Madrid training camp. 'Mbappe will continue receiving specific medical treatment and will gradually return to team activity.' Los Blancos are due to play their second Group H fixture against Mexican side CF Pachuca in Charlotte on Sunday. Real Madrid are second in their group after the opening round of fixtures, two points behind Red Bull Salzburg, who beat Pachuca 2-1 in Cincinnati during the early hours of Thursday morning.
