2 Rallying TSX Stocks You'll Wish You Bought Sooner

We've all been there – you check a stock you were eyeing, and boom, it's already up 40% or 50% since you first thought about buying it. That sting of 'I should've bought it' hits hard. The good news is, most growth stories aren't over with just one rally. In fact, some TSX stocks that have surged recently still show strong momentum, supported by their improving fundamentals.
In this article, let's look at two Canadian stocks that have been rallying, and why it still might not be too late to buy them for the long term.
G Mining Ventures (TSX:GMIN) has seen a massive move lately but still has long-term potential written all over it. This gold miner has been up more than 117% in the last year and trades at $18.72 per share with a market cap of about $4.2 billion. G Mining is developing precious metals projects in Brazil and Guyana, anchored by its producing Tocantinzinho mine and the advancing Oko West project.
In the March quarter, G Mining produced over 35,500 ounces of gold at an impressive all-in sustaining cost of US$960 per ounce. Despite some seasonal rain impacting its mining activity, the company still delivered strong free cash flow of US$36 million and net profit of US$24.4 million. Notably, its adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) hit US$68.6 million last quarter, showing how well its ramp-up is going.
With its production expected to increase through the second half of 2025 as higher-grade ore becomes available, G Mining seems well on track to meet its annual guidance of up to 200,000 ounces. In addition, the company recently released a positive feasibility study for its Oko West project, suggesting an after-tax value of US$2.2 billion and a mine life of over 12 years.
For long-term investors seeking exposure to a fast-growing gold producer with exploration upside and strong project economics, G Mining Ventures could be a compelling stock to consider.
Another TSX stock that's been gaining solid momentum in 2025 is Aritzia (TSX:ATZ). This company's growth story is hard to ignore right now. The Vancouver-based apparel retailer is known for its portfolio of exclusive fashion brands and strong e-commerce platform.
Aritzia stock has surged nearly 79% over the past year and currently trades at $67.44 per share with a market cap of $7.7 billion.
In its most recent quarter (ended in February 2025), Aritzia delivered 31.3% YoY (year-over-year) sales growth with the help of strong U.S. demand and e-commerce sales. For the quarter, its adjusted earnings also shot up 156% YoY, and its adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 18% from 10.6%.
Notably, the company opened 12 new boutiques in its fiscal year 2025 (ended in February), including a flagship on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, and it's not slowing down. With its net revenue expected to grow up to 19% in fiscal 2026, Aritzia is leaning into its growth drivers, even as U.S. tariffs add some complexity. For investors looking beyond the short-term market noise, this fashion stock has all the right ingredients for solid upside.

Elliotte Friedman Reveals Mitch Marner's Rumored Free Agency Plan to Maximize Earnings

Elliotte Friedman Reveals Mitch Marner's Rumored Free Agency Plan to Maximize Earnings originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The assumption around Toronto Maple Leafs winger Mitch Marner's looming free agency was clear in what he was chasing in the open market up until now. The Maple Leafs forward, according to most reports, is widely expected to try and land a maximum-term, maximum-money contract when he hits the open market July 1. Advertisement However, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman revealed on Sunday's episode of the "32 Thoughts" podcast, that may no longer be the case. 'Marner is the number one name on the market,' Friedman said. "There was a rumor going around this week that he might look at a four-year deal and then go for another one.' Friedman said this plan is gaining traction around the league, and he's the first to report such a Marner mindset since the end of Toronto's season. According to the insider, teams believe Marner may now pursue a shorter-term contract — something in the three-to-four-year range — instead of the full seven-year deal most expected. Advertisement The logic is financial and based on the NHL's salary cap, which is projected to rise steeply in the next several years, it allows for bigger contracts each passing season. Toronto Maple Leafs right wing Mitch Marner (16) follows the play during a game at Scotiabank Turchiaro-Imagn Images Locking in now could limit Marner's long-term earnings potential, which is something that he might be looking to maximize. On top of that, Friedman added that Marner's camp has not been able to engage in contract talks with Toronto. 'The Maple Leafs have tried to talk to Marner," Friedman said. "Marner's camp is not engaged with them. "I think everybody knows the way this is going to be heading — that on July 1, he's going to hit the market. Everything around him is news — it's big news.' Advertisement The Maple Leafs drafted Marner with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NHL draft, and if he leaves Toronto, he'd do so with 741 points in 657 games over nine seasons. Darren Dreger Predicts What John Tavares' Next Maple Leafs Contract Could Look Like

Darren Dreger Predicts What John Tavares' Next Maple Leafs Contract Could Look Like originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Toronto Maple Leafs and pending free agent John Tavares appear headed toward a new deal, but it could look very different from the contract that brought him home in 2018. Advertisement With the veteran center set to hit unrestricted free agency on July 1, NHL insider Darren Dreger believes the Leafs are exploring a discounted extension at the expense of signing Tavares to a longer-term deal. Even then, Dreger thinks Tavares wouldn't have a problem with earning a lower yearly salary over a longer period of time. Tavares just completed a seven-year, $77 million contract and finished last season with 38 goals and 74 points in 75 regular-season games. He also had seven points in 13 postseason outings. Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares (91) celebrates after scoring a Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images 'Everybody wants this guy to take a mammoth haircut. There's no doubt he is going to, and he's okay with that at this point in his career,' Dreger said Tuesday on TSN's "First Up" show. 'But the guy made $11 million flat. He's worth more than that.' Advertisement Dreger suggested the Leafs could follow the growing league trend of offering longer-term deals with lower average annual values to manage the cap hit. 'I expect that's what's going to happen with Tavares,' Dreger said. 'It's going to be a term much longer than most people would be comfortable with, but that'll help bring the AAV down with deferred money and all that.' Tavares, meanwhile, made clear he wants to stay in Toronto during the end-of-season media availability. 'Obviously, I've expressed my desire to stay and make it work,' Tavares said. 'Very optimistic that we can work something out where I'm back, but obviously haven't put a lot of thought into it, it's only been a couple of days.' LNG Canada produces first liquefied natural gas for export, sources say

By Curtis Williams HOUSTON (Reuters) -The Shell-led LNG Canada project has produced the first liquefied natural gas for export from its facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, two people familiar with the startup of the plant told Reuters on Sunday. "At 4 a.m. local time LNG Canada started producing its first LNG," one of the sources told Reuters. The facility is the first large-scale Canadian LNG project to begin production and also the first major facility in North America with direct access to the Pacific coast, significantly reducing sail time to Asian markets. When fully operational it will have a capacity to export 14 million metric tonnes per annum (mtpa), according to company statements. LNG Canada did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The super-chilled gas is being produced from the facility's Train 1, which has capacity of 5.6 mtpa, and the first LNG cargo is expected to be shipped by the beginning of July, the two sources said. Only a portion of the processing plant is operating, according to the two people. Train 1 has had difficulties with one of its lines and will only produce at half its capacity until the problem is solved, one of the sources said. LNG tanker Gaslog Glasgow is approaching LNG Canada's Kitimat port, according to LSEG ship tracking data. The vessel is expected to arrive on June 29 and will be loaded with LNG, the sources said. The LNG Canada project is a joint venture between Shell Plc, Petronas, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corporation and Kogas. Once the facility enters service, Canadian gas exports to the U.S. will likely decline, traders said, as Canadian energy firms will have another outlet for their fuel. For now, the U.S. is the only outlet for Canadian gas. Canada exported about 8.6 billion cubic feet per day of gas via pipelines to the U.S. in 2024, up from 8.0 bcfd in 2023 and an average of 7.5 bcfd over the prior five years (2018-2022), according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. That compares with a record 10.4 bcfd in 2002.
