US secretary of state Marco Rubio and defence secretary Pete Hegseth were expected to meet their Japanese counterparts, defence minister general Nakatani and foreign minister Takeshi Iwaya in Washington on July 1, for an annual 2+2 security talks. However, Tokyo called off the meeting after the US asked Japan to raise its defence spending to 3.5 per cent of GDP, up from an earlier request of 3 per cent, according to three sources familiar with the discussions, including two officials based in Tokyo, cited by the newspaper. A senior Japanese official stated that the decision to cancel the July 1 meeting was also influenced by the upcoming upper house elections on July 20, where the ruling Liberal Democratic Party is anticipated to lose seats. Reuters quoted a US government official confirming, Japan had 'postponed' the meeting and the decision was made weeks earlier, though no reason was provided. The TDA suggestion was in light of the Telangana govt starting the exercise to prepare the master plan for Hyderabad metropolitan region 2050 a few months ago. In a letter to chief minister A Revanth Reddy, TDA president GV Rao and secretary Srinivas Goud said that to ensure sustainable growth, the carrying capacity of future satellite cities should be meticulously calculated based on the ideal population density for each area, with infrastructure development planned accordingly to support long-term stability and scalability. 'High density will result in harsh conditions as we are experiencing in Bengaluru and Delhi. All four corners of the city should have civil infrastructure of the same level with health, education and employment-generating corridors such as IT,' Rao said. The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have officially declared the results of the RPF Constable (Executive) recruitment examination. Candidates who appeared for the test can now check and download their results from the respective official RRB websites. According to the result PDF, a total of 42,143 candidates have successfully cleared the Computer Based Test (CBT) phase of the selection process.
