André Onana's United Stand at a Crossroads
Onana's Mission to Redeem
As the summer transfer window looms, André Onana's future at Manchester United is once again under scrutiny. Despite Monaco showing interest, the Cameroonian goalkeeper appears determined to stay put and prove himself to new boss Rúben Amorim. According to The Guardian, Onana is intent on remaining at Old Trafford and 'proving his worth to Rúben Amorim next season.'

This defiance might be seen as admirable or delusional, depending on which part of last season fans choose to remember.
Patchy Form and Managerial Doubt
Onana's debut season was riddled with inconsistency. Signed from Inter Milan in July 2023, the 29-year-old struggled with both form and focus. His errors were glaring, particularly in high-stakes fixtures. Amorim was forced to drop him after a dire 2-2 Europa League draw with Lyon, citing his culpability in both goals. Onana was absent for the following 4-1 drubbing by Newcastle, but reinstated in the return leg, where he did perform solidly in a dramatic 5-4 win.

Still, questions linger. Amorim has left the door open: 'We are going to make that evaluation for any position in the squad,' he said. 'Goalkeeper is the same; we can work with André. André Onana already proved he is a top player with Inter. We have some seasons where we are [all] underperforming.'
New Options on the Horizon
Monaco are not the only ones watching. Chelsea's Djordje Petrović is also under the microscope, as the Ligue 1 club seek a long-term solution. Amorim may also be considering his own alternatives should Onana fail to convince during pre-season.
With financial pressures mounting and understudy Altay Bayindir expected to leave, United might need to sell before they buy. Onana, with three years left on his deal, could become a financial lever rather than a foundational piece.
Reputation on the Line
Onana's resolve is clear. Whether his redemption arc can materialise at Old Trafford remains to be seen. What is certain is that Amorim won't gamble his debut season on sentiment.
Our View – EPL Index Analysis
You want to believe in comebacks. You really do. But watching Onana last season tested even the most patient fan's faith. The highs — like the second-leg fightback — came too late, and the lows were just too frequent. We all saw the Lyon game, we saw Newcastle put four past us. That's not just rust, that's a lack of command.

It's telling that Amorim used words like 'evaluation' and 'underperforming'. Sounds diplomatic, but also like he's already shopping. And who could blame him? Goalkeepers should bring calm, not chaos. Onana's CV might boast of Champions League finals, but right now it's about what you're doing in the shirt. And his shirt was often the one picking the ball out of the net.
If Monaco or anyone wants him and the money helps rebuild, then maybe it's the best for all parties. Just don't let it become another situation where we hang onto someone too long hoping they'll become the player they were somewhere else.
Right now, we need certainty. Onana isn't that.

Bally Spring 2026 Menswear Collection

Bally has been linked to sports since the beginning of the Swiss brand, in 1851. Technical footwear has long played a role, too, including Bally's first tennis shoe in 1937, along with various shoes made for horse riding and golf, and the hiking boots used in the 1950s for the first ascent of Mount Everest. Today's Tennis collection for spring 2026 nodded to that history with a mixture of tradition and reinterpretation. Its starting point was the Competition sneaker, originally launched in 1983, now reissued to become more contemporary and sleek, as a celebration of a shoe worn by the Swiss 1992 French Open champions. This Tennis collection—designed by the internal creative team—was not conceived for playing, but instead as an homage to the aesthetics of the sport, which were also evoked through the clothes. The preppy proposals were presented in a white, red, and blue palette that explored late 1930s silhouettes with ample white pants, blue blazers, and spongy polos. The sweatshirts were more ironic, with tennis-related patches and vintage-inspired logos. Knitwear was an off-duty reinterpretation of braided twin-sets. An archival print of small tennis balls was widely used—also in a bright green accent—for short-sleeved shirts and lightweight scarves; the white and burgundy Bally ribbon was reprised, especially for accessories. Retro travel bags, themed canvas totes, and shoulder strap bags in perforated leather—the Bally signature Beckett model—were among the main accessories, together with more playful ones such as the cylindrical (and unconventional) clutch, the racket holder and a micro-tennis-ball-shaped keychain.

Richard Hughes WILL finalise deal for £65m star - even if he doesn't know it yet

Richard Hughes WILL finalise deal for £65m star - even if he doesn't know it yet Liverpool were already a force of nature to be reckoned with in the transfer market before Richard Hughes became the club's sporting director, but now it seems the Reds have gone up a level. This summer's transfer business has been nothing short of remarkable so far, leaving the fans in awe of what they're seeing. By all accounts, the recruitment team still have plenty more up their sleeve. Advertisement Being the first club to trigger Jeremie Frimpong's release clause was a stroke of genius, signing Florian Wirtz for £100m plus £16m in ambitious add-ons and then getting £10m for Trent Alexander-Arnold to leave a month before his contract expired. These are just incredibly brilliant deals. And then we have the 'Here We Go' for Jarrel Quansah to join Leverkusen for £35m (including add-ons), which makes him the German club's record transfer. Embedding a buy-back clause into the deal made it a no-brainer. If he fails, we have £30m; if he excels, we have priority to sign him again. Now, the Reds might be on the brink of yet another piece of shrewd transfer market business. © IMAGO Guehi to Liverpool is just a matter of time Liverpool are reportedly interested in Marc Guehi - the Crystal Palace captain, who is a centre-back with vast experience. Despite having an extensive reputation, the Englishman is just 24 years old and he would help the Reds fill the homegrown hole left in the squad after Quansah's departure. Advertisement However, the player is in demand. Last season, Newcastle made a £65m bid for him which was declined and Tottenham also made an approach of £55m plus £15m in add-ons, which was also dismissed. Palace are unlikely to be helping Guehi pack his bags to move to Merseyside. But the situation this year is very different to last. He now has just one year left on his deal and contract talks are uncooperative. It is will understood that he will leave, either this year or next. As such, Liverpool are in a position to be a little bit cheeky with their approach. Claims of £30m might well be short of the mark, but £50m including add-ons might well suffice. After all, he's an extremely talented player who could replace Virgil Van Dijk in the long-term after 2027. One thing for sure is that Liverpool will get him if they want him. That much shouldn't be in doubt.

Christoph Freund prefers Bayern Munich hunt for quality transfers over quantity, admits there are 'a few possibilities'

Bayern Munich's summer transfer business has been strange, so far. The club has already signed two players in Tom Bischof and Jonathan Tah, but the former's signing was announced in January and the latter should have been signed last year. It makes Bayern's transfer window so far seem very quiet, even though Germany's official transfer window has not opened yet. Of course, it does not help that it seems Bayern has been rejected multiple times by top targets. It is clear as day that Florian Wirtz rejected Bayern in favor of ending up in at Liverpool FC, while Nico Williams is reportedly set to choose FC Barcelona over the Bavarians. Advertisement The Williams is still fresh and unconfirmed, so sporting director Christoph Freund was asked by DAZN reporters on the topic following Bayern's 2-1 win against Boca Juniors in the Club World Cup: 'We're not commenting on rumors right now,' Freund replied, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. 'It's transfer season, and there are always a lot of rumors and speculation. But we want to move forward with our plans.' But will a big name player (like Wirtz) join this summer? 'I think we have a very, very good team. We have a lot of quality in the squad,' Freund countered. 'If you look at Michael Olise, for example, he wasn't necessarily a big name signing last summer. Now he's reached the very top. So, it has to be right for us. There are a few possibilities.' Ultimately, it is all about quality over quantity. More from
