Man who gunned down 35-year-old outside Ghaziabad police station held after gunfight
Ghaziabad: The prime accused in the brazen murder of a 35-year-old man, who was gunned down outside Muradnagar police station, was arrested Friday following a gunfight.
Monty Chaudhary, 36, a resident of Milak Rawli village, was arrested on Rawli Road after police say he tried to flee a routine patrol.
When chased, he allegedly fired at officers, prompting police to return fire.
Chaudhary was shot in both legs and taken into custody. Police recovered a country-made pistol, ammunition, and a motorcycle.
Monty is the main suspect in the killing of Ravi Sharma, who was gunned down outside Muradnagar police station on Wednesday evening as he stood with family members to file a complaint about an earlier attack on their home.
His accomplice, Ajay alias Mini, remains on the run.
According to senior officers, Monty told investigators that the shooting was driven by personal enmity. He claimed Sharma's family had made derogatory remarks about his sister, whose marriage prospects were faltering — a sensitive topic in the village. A heated argument with Ravi's father, Ravinder Sharma, earlier that evening over a road rage incident had reportedly inflamed tensions.

According to police, around 7.30pm on Wednesday, Ravi, his father and brother Arun had stopped near the gate of Milak Rawali to pick up their two cousins in their Scorpio. Monty and Mini were in their Celerio and honked to be let through. When Ravi's father asked them to wait, they became furious. Heated words were exchanged, and Ravi also got involved.
Eventually, both parties drove off, but Monty and Mini followed Ravi's family and fired several rounds at their home, some bullets piercing a tin sheet of a gate in the house.
While the family escaped unhurt, they went to the Muradnagar police station later in the night to file a formal complaint. While Ravi Sharma and some of his relatives waited outside the police station, they reportedly spotted Monty on a motorbike, chased him and pinned him.
After his arrest, Monty claimed that he and Mini had come to the police station to surrender. "Before he could reach police station, he was confronted by members of the Sharma family.
Seeing Ravi and others run towards him, Monty apparently panicked and opened fire," a police officer told TOI. "Two bullets struck Ravi — one in the shoulder, another in the abdomen. Though he also fired at the crowd, no one else was injured.

After the shooting, Monty fled through narrow residential lanes and hitched a ride to Loni where he stayed with a friend overnight. He was heading back home Friday when police arrested him.
Following the murder, police protection was extended to the family. Ravi's father, Ravinder Sharma, national vice-president of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Bhanu), said his family now lives in fear. "Cops were standing there when my son was shot. One of them was filming the incident instead of trying to stop it. No one chased the killer," he alleged. "I have no faith in the police anymore. Once these men are out on bail — and they will get bail — they will come for my other sons and grandchildren.
"
Sharma said he planned to apply for a firearms licence. "The chief minister's bulldozer seems to have stopped when it comes to real criminals. We are left to protect ourselves," he said. Police say efforts are underway to apprehend the second suspect. They have announced Rs 25,000 reward on Mini.

Santosh appealed to the NGT against Shah Rukh and the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA), alleging violations in securing the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ). He also claimed that the actor committed fraud by merging twelve 1-BHK flats meant for mass housing into one home for a single family. Shah Rukh Khan moved into Mannat with his family in 2001. The property was originally called Villa Vienna. In the same year, it was bought by Shah Rukh. He has been living in Mannat with his wife Gauri Khan, and their kids-- Aryan, Suhana and AbRam.

Ahmedabad crash: DGCA orders Air India to remove 3 officials; roles related to crew scheduling
NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation on Saturday directed Air India to remove its three senior officials from all roles related to crew scheduling and rostering, news agency PTI reported quoting sources. As per the report, one of those named is a divisional vice president at the airline. On 12 June, Air India Flight AI-171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for London, tragically crashed into a hostel at BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad's Meghani Nagar, shortly after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Of the 242 people aboard, 241 died, including former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, along with dozens more on the ground. In its order dated 20 June, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) directed Tata Group-owned Air India to promptly initiate internal disciplinary action against three officials. A week later, significant progress has been made in identifying victims. Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Superintendent Dr Rakesh Joshi said: 'As of 5.45 pm, 231 DNA samples of the deceased have matched with their family members. HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against Huzurnagar municipal commissioner Kankati Srinivas Reddy and two other officials for allegedly misappropriating Rs 7.2 lakh of govt funds during their earlier tenure in Tandur municipality under 'Pattana Pragathi' scheme. The ACB action followed a vigilance inquiry after a complaint by Ward 13 councillor of Tandur municipality, Varala Srinivas Reddy, accusing the commissioner and two engineers of creating bills for fictitious development work using benami contractors by falsifying records. The ACB FIR, issued on May 5, said that Srinivas Reddy, Mohd Younus (deputy executive engineer), and Gopala Mahesh (assistant engineer) colluded to siphon off govt funds in the name fake development work. The FIR said that in one instance the complainant personally undertook silt removal in Chilakavagu, a drain flowing through his ward, using his own resources. However, officials sanctioned Rs 3 lakh in the name of another individual, R Santosh Kumar, for the same work. In another case, officials exaggerated the usage of an excavator during the second phase of the scheme.
