Man who gunned down 35-year-old outside Ghaziabad police station held after gunfight
Ghaziabad: The prime accused in the brazen murder of a 35-year-old man, who was gunned down outside Muradnagar police station, was arrested Friday following a gunfight. Monty Chaudhary, 36, a resident of Milak Rawli village, was arrested on Rawli Road after police say he tried to flee a routine patrol. When chased, he allegedly fired at officers, prompting police to return fire. Chaudhary was shot in both legs and taken into custody. Police recovered a country-made pistol, ammunition, and a motorcycle. Monty is the main suspect in the killing of Ravi Sharma, who was gunned down outside Muradnagar police station on Wednesday evening as he stood with family members to file a complaint about an earlier attack on their home. His accomplice, Ajay alias Mini, remains on the run. According to senior officers, Monty told investigators that the shooting was driven by personal enmity. He claimed Sharma's family had made derogatory remarks about his sister, whose marriage prospects were faltering — a sensitive topic in the village. A heated argument with Ravi's father, Ravinder Sharma, earlier that evening over a road rage incident had reportedly inflamed tensions. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Florida New Policy for Senior Drivers The Quote General Learn More Undo According to police, around 7.30pm on Wednesday, Ravi, his father and brother Arun had stopped near the gate of Milak Rawali to pick up their two cousins in their Scorpio. Monty and Mini were in their Celerio and honked to be let through. When Ravi's father asked them to wait, they became furious. Heated words were exchanged, and Ravi also got involved. Eventually, both parties drove off, but Monty and Mini followed Ravi's family and fired several rounds at their home, some bullets piercing a tin sheet of a gate in the house. While the family escaped unhurt, they went to the Muradnagar police station later in the night to file a formal complaint. While Ravi Sharma and some of his relatives waited outside the police station, they reportedly spotted Monty on a motorbike, chased him and pinned him. After his arrest, Monty claimed that he and Mini had come to the police station to surrender. "Before he could reach police station, he was confronted by members of the Sharma family. Seeing Ravi and others run towards him, Monty apparently panicked and opened fire," a police officer told TOI. "Two bullets struck Ravi — one in the shoulder, another in the abdomen. Though he also fired at the crowd, no one else was injured. " After the shooting, Monty fled through narrow residential lanes and hitched a ride to Loni where he stayed with a friend overnight. He was heading back home Friday when police arrested him. Following the murder, police protection was extended to the family. Ravi's father, Ravinder Sharma, national vice-president of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Bhanu), said his family now lives in fear. "Cops were standing there when my son was shot. One of them was filming the incident instead of trying to stop it. No one chased the killer," he alleged. "I have no faith in the police anymore. Once these men are out on bail — and they will get bail — they will come for my other sons and grandchildren. " Sharma said he planned to apply for a firearms licence. "The chief minister's bulldozer seems to have stopped when it comes to real criminals. We are left to protect ourselves," he said. Police say efforts are underway to apprehend the second suspect. They have announced Rs 25,000 reward on Mini.

Road spat ends in murder outside Ghaziabad police station, shooter a rape convict freed last year
1 2 3 Ghaziabad: A 35-year-old man was gunned down at the entrance of a police station Wednesday evening as a road rage incident that began with a minor argument ended hours later in murder. The brazen killing, after which the SHO of Muradnagar and two sub-inspectors were suspended, followed shots being fired at victim Ravi Sharma's house by the prime suspects, Monty and Mini, and a scuffle outside the police station between them and Ravi that a policeman allegedly recorded videos of rather than try to stop. It was during this scuffle that Monty shot Ravi. Convicted of raping a minor in 2015, Monty was released from prison last year and lived in the same village as the victim, though they didn't seem to know each other, police said. The confrontation began around 7.30pm when Ravi, his father and brother Arun were returning home from the market in their Scorpio. Near the gate of Milak Rawali, where the live, they had stopped to pick up their two cousins. Monty and Mini were in their Celerio and honked to be let through. When Ravi's father asked them to wait, they became furious. Heated words were exchanged between the two groups, and Ravi also got involved. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Manchas, rugas e pele opaca? Monty and Mini tracked down Ravi's family, who called police after shots were fired at their house. A police team searched the locality but didn't find the suspects. The shooters, however, hung around, waiting for their opportunity. At night, when Ravi and others went to the police station, they followed them again. In his police complaint, Ravi's father Ravinder Sharma, who happens to be vice-president of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Bhanu), said, "The other car was going in the opposite direction. They honked several times to pass. I requested them to wait for a minute as the girls (Ravi's cousins) were getting into the car. But they started misbehaving with us. We returned to our house after a verbal exchange." An hour later, the family was watching TV when they heard a couple of loud bangs outside the house. "The same two men were firing at our house this time. We called police. They reached 10 minutes later," said Ravinder. One of the bullets was lodged in a tin sheet of a gate in the house. Later, the family decided to file a police complaint. Ravi, Arun, Ravinder and others went to Muradnagar police station together. While Ravinder and their uncle submitted the complaint inside the police station, Ravi, Arun and others waited outside. Anshul Kaushik, Ravi's brother-in-law and an eyewitness to the murder, said Ravi spotted Monty and Mini on a bike around 11.45pm. "They were on the other side of the road and Ravi ran after them. We followed. There was a fight, but we caught both. Some policemen also reached. When we were taking them to the police station, Monty managed to wrench himself free, took out a gun from his pocket, and shot Ravi twice," Anshul said. Ravi was hit in the stomach and died in hospital during treatment. Anshul said Monty also fired at others, but the bullets didn't hit anyone else. In the melee that ensued, he and Mini fled. "The four cops present at the spot didn't help Ravi. One of them was busy taking a video of the fight," Anshul said. On Thursday morning, angry locals protested outside Muradnagar police station, refusing to cremate Ravi till they got justice. The protest was called off after senior police officers met them and assured swift action. DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said an FIR was registered against Monty Goyat and Mini (Ajay Chaudhary) under section 103 (murder) and 3 (5) (common intention) of BNS at Muradnagar police station. "We have formed five teams to nab the criminals. When the accused shot at Ravi's house, a police team went to arrest Monty and Mini from their houses, but they were not there. We are checking CCTV footage," he said. Police commissioner J Ravinder Goud suspended SHO Shailendra Singh Tomar, Sube Singh, night duty in charge of the police station, and Mohit Singh, the area's beat officer, for dereliction of duty and ordered a departmental inquiry against them.

Maruti's Manesar railway siding to cut 65,000 truck trips annually
By Shailesh Yadav Manesar (Haryana) [India], June 17 (ANI): Maruti Suzuki's new railway siding at its Manesar plant will eliminate approximately 65,000 truck trips annually, translating to 232 fewer truck journeys per day based on 280 working days, Senior Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Rahul Bharti announced on Tuesday. Speaking to ANI at the Manesar facility, Bharti highlighted that the railway terminal will dispatch seven popular models including Celerio, WagonR, SPresso, Dzire, Brezza, Ertiga and XL6, while export vehicles will be transported to Pipavav and Mundra ports through the new facility. The Manesar railway siding represents India's largest automobile GatiShakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal, capable of dispatching 450,000 vehicles annually at full capacity. Spread across 46 acres within the Manesar facility, the terminal features a fully electrified 8.2-kilometer corridor with four full-length tracks plus one engine escape track, a two-floor station building, and comprehensive support infrastructure. The project, executed through a joint venture with Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation Ltd (HORCL) at a total cost of Rs 1,170.91 crore, marks the company's second such facility following the Gujarat plant's inaugural railway siding. Maruti Suzuki's green logistics transformation has been remarkable since FY 2014-15, with railway dispatches growing nearly eight-fold from 5 per cent to 24.3 per cent of total vehicle dispatches in FY 2024-25. The company dispatched a record 5.18 lakh vehicles through railways last fiscal year, contributing to a cumulative 25 lakh vehicles transported via rail since the initiative began. Currently operating over 40 flexi-deck rakes with 300-vehicle capacity each, the automaker serves more than 600 cities across India through 21 distribution hubs. The environmental impact of this logistics strategy is substantial, with the Manesar facility alone expected to avoid 175,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions and save 60 million litres of fuel annually at full capacity. As Maruti Suzuki prepares to scale production to 4 million units by FY 2030-31, the company plans to increase railway usage to approximately 35 per cent of total dispatches over the next five to six years, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable transportation and reduced carbon footprint in the automotive sector.
