Man, 61, in critical condition after being ejected from motorcycle in Clarington collision

A 61-year-old man is in critical condition after being ejected from his motorcycle when it collided with a pickup truck in Clarington on Monday.
The collision occurred on Lakeshore Road, east of Stephenson Road, at 3 p.m.
Durham Regional Police said a black Chevrolet pickup truck was travelling east and going up an incline when it had to move over the centre line to avoid a parked vehicle.
'As the pickup went over the crest, a westbound Suzuki motorcycle being operated by a 61-year-old male from Oshawa had crested the grade,' and the two vehicles collided, police said.
The rider was ejected from his bike, police said. He sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.
Police said the motorcycle rider was initially taken to a local area hospital but was later airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre, where he remains in the critical care unit with life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup, who was not physically injured, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

A man has died after two people were reportedly stabbed near Wilson Ave. and Beverly Hills Dr. just after noon on Sunday. 1 dead, 1 injured in stabbing at homeless shelter in Toronto, 1 in custody
A man has died in hospital and another man was injured after being stabbed inside a North York shelter Sunday afternoon, Toronto police say. A man in 70s has been arrested in connection to the incident, said Acting Insp. Todd Jocko, duty senior officer for the Toronto Police Service. Both victims are in their 50s, Jocko said. The stabbing happened at the shelter located in the area of Wilson Avenue and Beverly Hills Drive. Police were called to the area shortly after noon. When officers arrived, they tried to save the life of one man who was in life-threatening condition, Jocko said. Toronto paramedics took both men to hospital. The one in life-threatening condition was pronounced dead there. The other man who suffered non-life-threatening injuries is still in hospital. "We understand that these incidents are alarming and concerning for people in the community. Please rest assured that we are dedicating all the necessary resources to this investigation," Jocko told reporters near the scene. Jocko said there is no threat to the public and there are no outstanding suspects in the stabbing. Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. Jocko said there will be an increased police presence in the area as officers continue to investigate.

Man wanted in connection with fatal Toronto stabbing arrested: police
Police have arrested and charged the suspect wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old man in the city's east end, after a week-long manhunt. Anthony Steven Oliveira, 24, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder, police say. Officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service located and arrested Oliveira near Falls Ave. and Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls on Sunday. The stabbing occurred behind a plaza near Danforth Avenue and Coxwell Avenue, on June 17 around 11 p.m. Officers found the victim, Ashkan Pournasir-Roudbane, suffering from multiple stab wounds after an alleged altercation between two men. He was rushed to hospital, where he died shortly after. Police said the victim may have been targeted because he was 'alone' and 'in an isolated area.' 'The victim was sitting down and had no chance to defend himself or flee,' Det. Sgt. Henri Marsman said on Friday. Pournasir-Roudbane was Toronto's 16th homicide victim of 2025. Oliveira was known to use public transit in the Greater Toronto Area - including in the regions of Peel, York and Durham, police said, and bulletins were sent to all the transit agencies. Oliveira has a history of violence and was also wanted by Durham police in connection with an alleged attempted stabbing in Oshawa on June 1. He was scheduled to appear in court Sunday afternoon.
