Ryan Reynolds Trolls Neil Patrick Harris for 'Stealing' Deadpool in New VR Game
It's official: Ryan Reynolds has been benched in favor of another actor for the latest Deadpool gig—sort of.
Fortunately, Marvel fans and followers of the foul-mouthed superhero don't have anything to worry about regarding Reynolds portraying the character on the big screen. He remains the voice, personality and man behind the mask of Deadpool on that front, but it'll be a How I Met Your Mother fan-favorite handling a new voiceover gig for the character.
It was recently revealed that Neil Patrick Harris will be the voice of the popular superhero in the new Meta Quest Deadpool VR game. Although Reynolds likely had no actual issue with this, he made sure to take a few jabs while trolling his fellow actor for "stealing" Deadpool, calling him a "butthole."
While it's unknown if Reynolds was offered to do the VR game voiceover, it'd be surprising if the decision to go with another actor was made without his knowledge. Regardless, he obviously doesn't seem to have any real issue with it, and his sarcastic response is what fans have come to expect from the actor.
Marvel dropped the trailer on its website, stating that Deadpool VR is "not for the faint of heart, so put on your big kid undies and strap in for a violent, expletive-ridden good time." Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the feature, which will shoot in England this summer and has a July 31, 2026, release date. Much of the movie remains shrouded in mystery. Movie rumor websites have listed upwards of a dozen possible villains, from crime bosses to alien symbiotes, who could appear in the feature, as well as a couple of different versions of the Hulk. The only thing clear at this stage is that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are reprising their roles as MJ and best friend Ned, although how substantial those roles will be remains unclear. And Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is the big new addition so far. The story takes place after the events of the previous movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which the entire world knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man and then had that knowledge erased. Having Bernthal as the Punisher seems to point to a slightly more grounded angle on the story as the character hails from the gritty street corner of Marvel's universe and, in the comics at least, uses fists, knives and guns to tussle with bad guys, rather than spells or fancy tech. But hey, having him square off against a rampaging Hulk could be fun, too. Bernthal first showed up as vigilante Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, in Marvel's Daredevil Netflix series, then starred in his own series that ran for two seasons. He recently returned for a few episodes in Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. Marvel is betting on more Punisher and Bernthal in the months and years to come. The character is set to return for season two of Born Again and Marvel is bringing Bernthal back for a Punisher stand-alone feature for Disney+. Bernthal is co-writing the latter. Curiously, one nonnegotiable he had for his return to Daredevil was maintaining the character's violent, R-rated feel. It will be interesting to see how that translates into the more kid-friendly tone of the Spider-Man movies. Bernthal and Holland have a charmed history together when it comes to Marvel. The duo were working on the 2017 feature Pilgrimage when prepping to audition for their Marvel roles. The actors helped each other with their audition tapes. This year, Bernthal's big-screen output has included starring opposite Ben Affleck in The Accountant 2 for Amazon and appearing in the Rami Malek thriller The Amateur for 20th Century Fox. Brett Goldstein has emerged as one of the many beloved characters in the Apple TV+ hit series Ted Lasso. He portrays the popular player-turned-coach Roy Kent, who has a gritty personality and doesn't love small talk. It seems Goldstein's disinterest in small talk during the show may translate to real life in some ways, specifically when it comes to being asked questions about Ted Lasso's future From the sound of it, Goldstein didn't exactly love fielding the constant questions on the topic of whether Ted Lasso would even return for a Season 4, before the news was officially revealed. He made that much known during a recent interview with Variety. When the topic of Goldstein no longer having to address the questions about the show's future when they arose, it sounds like they were tougher on him than the current queries he gets. "That is such a relief," Goldstein said of no longer having to answer questions about the show's future. Goldstein, who plays Louis on the hit show Shrinking, is also an executive producer and writer for the show. While he's in the same boat as the rest of the Ted Lasso cast, having to remain tight-lipped on Season 4, he did call it "exciting" to be back with the rest of the show's actors. "Obviously, I can't tell you a single thing about it, of course, but we're working on it, and it's good," he says. "It's exciting to have everyone back together." 'The Boys' Jensen Ackles Excited for Reunion With ‘Supernatural' Co-Star in Season 5
When the 15-season run of the popular series Supernatural came to a close, many fans were disappointed for several reasons. One was that the duo of Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) and Jared Padalecki (Sam) would be no more. However, Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who also leads the way in the hit Amazon Prime Video series The Boys, ensured that wouldn't be the case. Padalecki was cast in the upcoming Season 5 of The Boys, and previously revealed to TV Insider that he would be featured in the same storyline, frame and interacting with Ackles, along with another Supernatural co-star, Misha Collins. 'It's a blast," Kripke said. "We already shot it. I will confirm that Jared, Jensen, and Misha are all in the same frame together, and in the same storyline, and interacting with each other.' While speaking with Collider about his new series, Countdown, Ackles addressed the reunion with his former co-star, Padalecki, on The Boys, and the excitement about working together again was obvious. 'There's a reason he and I did that show for 15 years because we truly got along, we truly enjoy working together, and we're effectively brothers in real life, too," Ackles said. "So anytime we get a chance to mix it up and do stuff, it's always a blast. He's the best. You can put us two in front of anything; we'll get the job done.'
