Harold & Kumar to get another sequel! Creators of the cult classic stoner film confirm; everything to know

Remember Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle? (2004) Well, everyone's favourite stoner cult classic is now getting a fourth part as the creators behind Netflix's Cobra Kai — Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald — have officially signed on to write a new installment of the franchise. Hurwitz and Schlossberg will also direct the film, which is currently in development under Lionsgate's Mandate Pictures. It's a homecoming of sorts for the duo, whose Hollywood careers were launched by scripting the 2004 original and then directing its 2008 follow-up, Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay. The franchise also boasts a third film — A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson. John Cho and Kal Penn, who famously played the uptight Harold Lee and the carefree Kumar Patel, are expected to return, but no contracts have been finalised. Neil Patrick Harris, who played a drugged-up, fictionalised version of himself in the series, has not yet been confirmed either. The original Harold & Kumar film, directed by Danny Leiner, follows the two unlikely best friends as they embark on a late-night quest for White Castle burgers. Fueled by marijuana and munchies, they stumble into absurd scenarios, from racist cops and escaped cheetahs to a drug-fueled Neil Patrick Harris joyride. While the announcement has stirred up excitement among nostalgic fans, not everyone is sold on the idea of a fourth film. 'The first one was great. The second one was mostly boring but had a few funny moments. The third one is absolute trash. I'm not particularly excited for a fourth movie,' one fan admitted on X. Others speculated about the plot, guessing everything from an ICE-themed satire to Harold & Kumar's midlife crisis. But most expressed confusion over the announcement coming before the leads had officially signed on. 'Weird to announce it when the two stars haven't signed deals,' one user pointed out. 'They must be very close or Kal and John have a leg up in negotiations and the studio's pressuring them by announcing it,' reasoned another. For many, the idea of seeing Harold and Kumar return, even to a suburban nightmare instead of a burger joint, is enough to spark some cautious excitement.

Ryan Reynolds Trolls Neil Patrick Harris for 'Stealing' Deadpool in New VR Game

It's official: Ryan Reynolds has been benched in favor of another actor for the latest Deadpool gig—sort of. Fortunately, Marvel fans and followers of the foul-mouthed superhero don't have anything to worry about regarding Reynolds portraying the character on the big screen. He remains the voice, personality and man behind the mask of Deadpool on that front, but it'll be a How I Met Your Mother fan-favorite handling a new voiceover gig for the character. It was recently revealed that Neil Patrick Harris will be the voice of the popular superhero in the new Meta Quest Deadpool VR game. Although Reynolds likely had no actual issue with this, he made sure to take a few jabs while trolling his fellow actor for "stealing" Deadpool, calling him a "butthole." While it's unknown if Reynolds was offered to do the VR game voiceover, it'd be surprising if the decision to go with another actor was made without his knowledge. Regardless, he obviously doesn't seem to have any real issue with it, and his sarcastic response is what fans have come to expect from the actor. Marvel dropped the trailer on its website, stating that Deadpool VR is "not for the faint of heart, so put on your big kid undies and strap in for a violent, expletive-ridden good time." The release date currently shows just "2025," and it'll be available only on Meta Quest 3/ Reynolds Trolls Neil Patrick Harris for 'Stealing' Deadpool in New VR Game first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 8, 2025

Ryan Reynolds shocks as he leans in for KISS with Blake Lively's SISTER… but all is not what it seems

shocked when he leaned in for kiss with Blake Lively 's sister… but all is not what it seems. The actor, 48, spoofed American medical sitcom Doogie Howser, M.D. in a response to the show's star Neil Patrick Harris voicing Deadpool for Marvel's new VR game. Ryan, who has played the anti-hero since 2009, reacted to the news with a hilarious video, parodying Neil's character and mocking the casting choice. Blake's half sister Robyn, 53, played Nurse Michele Farber in Doogie Howser, M.D., and made a cameo for the spoof. In the clip, Ryan types up a letter on his computer and reads aloud: 'Today, I learned a lesson about buttholes they don't teach you in medical school. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. He continued: 'People who steal your signature role are the biggest buttholes of all. No, I don't blame Meta Quest. 'Neil Patrick Harris is an amazing actor with the nurturing voice of an angel, but even though I haven't hit puberty yet, I still know when you're getting totally screwed.' Robyn then walks into shot, with Ryan shouting: 'My girlfriend! What are you doing here? If my dad sees you here, he's gonna freak.' 'You're a 48-year-old man,' she replied. He continues: 'I'm a 14-year-old medical prodigy who's going through the change,' before adding: 'Robyn, you're being paid.' Remaining in character, Ryan then leans in for a kiss wit Robyn, but stops: 'I don't think we should do that because you're my sister-in-law.' Elsewhere, the actor's upcoming movie has been delayed by a staggering seven months - amid his wife Blake's legal drama with Justin Baldoni. Animal Friends, an R-rated combination of live-action and animation starring Reynolds, was previously slated for release this autumn on October 10, 2025. Now, however, the Warner Bros Pictures and Legendary Entertainment production has been postponed and will bow next year on May 1, 2026, according to Deadline. The date change went public this Tuesday, but no reason was officially announced for the substantial alteration in scheduling. May 1, 2026 was supposed to be the release date of the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday, but that picture has now been bumped to December 18, 2026, potentially leaving an opening for Animal Friends at the start of May. Reynolds is at the top of a glittering cast including Aubrey Plaza, Jason Momoa, Addison Rae, Eric André, Dan Levy and Rob Delaney.

Ryan Reynolds Fires Off Hilarious 'Diagnosis' for Neil Patrick Harris in DEADPOOL VR Response Video — GeekTyrant

Ryan Reynolds has officially broken his silence on being replaced as Deadpool in the new Marvel's Deadpool VR game, and in true Wade Wilson fashion, he did it with maximum sarcasm, a lab coat, and a pitch-perfect jab at Doogie Howser, M.D. Meta's upcoming VR title for Quest 3 and 3S sees How I Met Your Mother and Doogie Howser star Neil Patrick Harris taking over as the Merc with a Mouth, and Reynolds wasn't about to let that slide without a fourth-wall-breaking response. In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Reynolds resurrects the classic Doogie end-of-episode monologue format, complete with a painfully retro computer and that famous journal entry setup to air his grievances. Dressed in a lab coat and typing furiously, Reynolds deadpans: 'Today, I learned a lesson about buttholes they don't teach you in medical school. People who steal your signature role are the biggest buttholes of all.' The room Reynolds is typing in is made to look like Doogie's childhood bedroom. The voiceover continues with a faux coming-of-age revelation that perfectly toes the line between admiration and absolute Deadpool-level pettiness: 'No, I don't blame Meta Quest. Neil Patrick Harris is an amazing actor with the nurturing voice of an angel, but even though I haven't hit puberty yet, I still know when you're getting totally screwed.' But the real kicker comes when Robyn Lively crashes the scene yelling 'House call!', a deep cut callback for Doogie Howser fans, as Lively played Michele Faber on the show. She also just happens to be Blake Lively's sister, making this bit extra awkward when Reynolds calls her his 'girlfriend,' then immediately panics about what her dad might say. Lively hits him with the cold truth: 'You're a 48-year-old man.' Cue a hilarious exchange about paychecks, insults, and one of Reynolds' most Deadpool-y retorts: 'I disagree with that diagnosis.' Before the clip wraps, we get a quick cut to the actual Marvel's Deadpool VR game trailer, then right back to Reynolds, still in Doogie cosplay, leaning in for an awkward kiss before stopping himself: 'We can't. You're my sister-in-law.' Lively shoots back with a flat, 'You're dumb.' It's a perfectly chaotic little video that will have you laughing.
