
Aston Martin DBX S Breaks Cover With More Powerful V8
The Aston Martin DBX was launched as the brand's first SUV in 2021. At the time, the SUV had two versions, among which the base variant had a 542 hp output. However, this iteration of the SUV was dropped last year, leaving the DBX 707 as the only option. Now, pushing things up a notch, the automaker has launched an even more power-packed version of the vehicle called the DBX S.
The Aston Martin DBX S houses the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with a plug-in hybrid system. To squeeze out more power from the unit, the brand has now added turbochargers with a larger compressor wheel. This adds 20 extra ponies, resulting in 717 hp of power. Using this power, the SUV can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in 3.3 seconds. Meanwhile, the top speed is the same as the other iteration of the SUV, limited to 310 kmph. With this, the SUV is only second to the Lamborghini Urus SE in terms of performance.

Mechanically, a few things remain the same. The SUV continues to have an all-wheel-drive system with 50 percent torque reserved for the front wheels, while up to 100 percent can be utilised by the rear wheels. Additionally, it uses the same nine-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the exhaust system has changed to an exhaust note.
Contributing to performance is the reduced weight of the car. However, these come in the form of optional elements. Specifically, the car now gets a carbon-fiber roof, which is now the largest carbon-fiber piece fitted to an Aston Martin. Furthermore, the car can have 23-inch magnesium wheels, which save 19 kg when compared to the 23-inch forged aluminium wheels. There will also be an option of a polycarbonate grille.
To give it a distinguishable identity, the Aston Martin DBX S gets a black grille black, and the front bumper has a new splitter paired with revised side sills with a prominent S badge on the front fender. At the rear end, the bumper and diffuser have been redesigned to give space for the vertically stacked quad exhaust pipes. The buyers have an option to have Rosso Corsa Red, Trophy Silver, or Podium Green exterior accents.
On the inside, there are new seats with a herringbone design that can be used on the headliner as well. The cabin is upholstered in Alcantara, while the seats also include semi-aniline leather, which can be used to replace the Alcantara in the cabin. To signify its uniqueness, it has an 'S' logo embroidered on the seats, sill plates, and engine plaque. Uplifting the feel of the cabin is a 14-speaker sound system, which can be upgraded to a 23-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system.

Canadian GP: Leclerc crashes, Russell tops in practice
George Russell set the pace for Mercedes in the second Canadian Grand Prix practice on Friday after Red Bull's Formula One champion Max Verstappen led the opening session at Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc sat out the later session after crashing in the first, leaving mechanics plenty of work to repair the car. Aston Martin's Lance Stroll, who missed the previous race in Spain due to hand and wrist pain, crashed at turn seven in second practice for his home grand prix and smashed the front left suspension. Russell's time of one minute 12.123 seconds compared to Verstappen's earlier afternoon effort of 1:13.193. The pair qualified on the front row last year with identical times, with Russell on pole but Verstappen going on to win the race for a third year in a row. They also clashed in Spain two weekends ago, with Verstappen left on the brink of a ban after driving into the Mercedes. The Dutch driver was only ninth in Friday's second practice, behind Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, with McLaren's Lando Norris the closest to Russell and only 0.028 slower. 'The car is jumping like crazy in the rear, like the ride is terrible,' reported Verstappen over the radio. Lance Stroll refuses to discuss wrist injury specifics ahead of home Canadian Grand Prix
Lance Stroll cited 'medical privacy' Thursday in refusing to discuss the specifics of the wrist injury or medical procedure that kept the Formula 1 driver from participating in the Spanish Grand Prix two weeks ago. The Aston Martin driver has been cleared to compete this weekend at his home Canadian Grand Prix, but he was short on details about his injury. Aston Martin has said only that Stroll, the son of the team owner, underwent a 'successful medical procedure to resolve the symptoms' and that he completed test laps in France to earn clearance for Sunday's race in Canada. The 26-year-old Stroll did not elaborate further. The team previously said Stroll had been experiencing pain for six weeks and doctors believed the problem was related to a medical procedure he underwent in 2023 following a cycling accident to treat fractures to both wrists and a broken toe. 'Pretty confident. Should be good,' Stroll initially offered Thursday in Montreal. He only revealed a bit more after persistent questioning. 'It was bothering me for a few weeks over Imola, Monaco and then Barcelona was just really brutal throughout the weekend,' Stroll said. 'I got a procedure done and drove this week and I was feeling pretty good, so I'm confident it's just the old injury that I had with it a couple of years ago. It just started to bug me again and yeah, just got it sorted.' When asked which wrist was treated, Stroll said: 'That's my right one,″ in reference to the hand he refused to remove from his pocket during Thursday's news conference in Montreal. Stroll has scored only 14 points this season while teammate Fernando Alonso has struggled to just two points as Aston Martin has endured a tremendous drop-off in performance. Stroll also downplayed reports he had a meltdown in the Aston Martin garage following a poor showing in qualifying at the Spanish GP. 'I was frustrated, for sure, frustrated about my wrists and last three races from Imola — it was inhibiting my driving,' Stroll said. 'I knew that Sunday was going to be tricky, probably impossible and at that point I was pretty frustrated about it.' Prior to that, Stroll said he'd been trying to drive through the pain. 'As an athlete, in any sport, you're always trying to push through the pain, discomfort, as much as you can and try to get a good result,' Stroll said. 'In that situation, I was struggling and I was trying to push through it and it just didn't feel sensible to push anymore. Felt like the damage was getting worse and I needed to do something more serious about it. 'I don't want to really get into detail about what I had to do and how I had to do it because it's just my medical privacy and I like to keep that confidential.'
