Amazon cancels The Wheel of Time fantasy series after 'best season ever'
Despite a record-breaking debut, The Wheel of Time was axed over financial concerns, angering fans who praised the third season.
Amazon Prime Video has confirmed the cancellation of its acclaimed fantasy series The Wheel of Time after just three seasons, much to the disappointment of fans.
The show, based on Robert Jordan's iconic novels, was officially axed on Friday, May 23, a little over a month after the third season finale aired in April.
Despite debuting as Prime Video's most-watched premiere in 2021, the series suffered from declining viewership, with Deadline attributing the cancellation to financial reasons, Mirror reported.
This decision has sparked frustration among loyal viewers, especially as many praised season three for being a marked improvement on earlier instalments.
On social media, fans vented their anger and disbelief. One viewer on X, formerly Twitter, questioned: 'Wdym Prime cancelled The Wheel of Time after the best season they ever had? Rosamund Pike literally spent weeks in a desert for nothing?'
James Dyer from Empire was equally outraged, tweeting: 'No, I'm sorry @primevideouk, this WILL NOT STAND! Season 3 was f***ing fantastic and if you can afford to pour a billion dollars into The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power, you can throw some cash at this glorious show!'
Another fan agreed, saying: 'I thought it really found its feet with Series 3 as well. It felt more focused and the younger actors were starting to give Rosamund Pike a run for her money.
"Completely agree with you on The Rings of Power as well. It's ok. But Wheel of Time was much better.'
This sense of disbelief was echoed on Reddit, where one user mocked: 'lmao of course they waited for the show to actually be well received by fans and critics to cancel it.'
Another added: 'I'm genuinely surprised by this... Seems like they had a lot of positive momentum after Season 3 and people were happy with the direction the show was going.'
A third simply shared their sadness: 'I am so sad. I was really loving the last season.'
However, not all viewers were shocked by the news. Some criticised The Wheel of Time as an underwhelming adaptation that never quite matched the cultural impact of giants like Game of Thrones.

'They wanted the next Game of Thrones,' one commenter observed.
'It just wasn't the same kind of cultural phenomenon, no matter how good the last season was in comparison. This was bound to happen, they put a lot of money into it.'
Despite the cancellation, fans are not giving up. Several petitions have already been launched, urging other streaming platforms such as Netflix to rescue The Wheel of Time and give it a new lease of life.
For now, the series remains available to stream on Prime Video, leaving fans to wonder if this might not be the end after all.

Meghan Markle's brand As Ever sells out in minutes but fans are skeptical
Some fans have accused the Duchess of playing the 'sold out' game with her products. Meghan Markle took to social media to share her delight as her As Ever products once again sold out in minutes. However, some fans are sceptical - with some suggesting the Duchess of Sussex is playing the 'sold out' game. In an Instagram story shared yesterday, Meghan could be seen telling her followers that she 'couldn't believe' that nearly all of her items had sold out - even the flower sprinkles which she said she knew would be a hit once again with customers. She said that her team at As Ever 'spent time' making sure they had enough stock for the new sale, so customers could get their hands on a new honey and an apricot spread. On top of this, the Duchess also did a restock of six items from her initial sale, which was said to 'fly off the shelves' two months ago. In the post, the mum of two said: "We spent so much time making sure we had so much more inventory. That's why we took the time and you guys are doing it again. We are nearly sold out on everything. '"And I can't believe it - even flower sprinkles which I knew would be the big one again. So that has more inventory than all of it and that is also about to sell out." While many fans may have been waiting in anticipation of the restock and new products, others were a bit more dubious about how quickly the stock was said to have sold out on Friday. On social media, one person said: "She is playing the 'sold out' game and thinking we are all stupid. You fool no one Meghan Markle." With a second person adding: "Wait the only new thing she dropped was the apricot spread. And it sold out after 20 mins. Meghan must think people are really stupid." A third user also commented: "Wow they have super small quantities. The apricot and tea already sold out." While fans noticed the new apricot spread and honey within yesterday's sale, those waiting for Meghan's new Napa Valley rose wine will need to wait until July 1 for it to be available. This rose is Meghan's first step into the wine market and the wine is said to be sourced up the west coast from her Montecito mansion in California. Described by her brand as having "soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality and a lasting finish", this "bespoke blend" is said to be launching just in time for some summer entertaining. In Meghan's first sale, she launched nine As Ever products, which included a raspberry spread that came in a keepsake packaging or in a normal jar, flower sprinkles, wildflower honey with honeycomb, a crepe mix, a shortbread cookie mix and three herbal teas - lemon ginger, peppermint and hibiscus. All of these products were said to have sold out in 45 minutes after their initial release. For the restock, the Duchess brought back the three herbal teas, the flower sprinkles, crepe mix and shortbread cookie mix. Before Friday's sale, Meghan said: "We are pleased to share that many favourites from our debut As Ever collection are back – and, we've added something new. We hope you find some special treats that bring extra joy to you and your loved ones."

Tributes have poured in from friends and fans of the star who shared their condolences following the sad news. One person said: "Years ago Jack played an evil character on One Live to Live!!! I loved him and was excited to see him on Cruising With Marie…" As another commented: "RIP to a legend. Jack Betts brought so much to the screen — from gritty westerns to comic book charm." A third added: "Jack Betts from One Life to Live who played Dr. Ivan Kipling has passed away at the age of 96. He will always be remembered for the storyline he had with Judith Light who played Karen Wolek." Jack was born in Miami in 1929 and went on to study theatre and appeared in a Broadway adaptation of William Shakespeare's Richard III. Despite becoming a star over the years for his TV appearances and films, Jack's films at that time did not air in the US or Canada which meant he found finding fame more difficult in those countries. Landing a string of Westerns at the time, Jack said Clint Eastwood was even his neighbour at one point. He told The Dev Show in 2021: "In the hotel next to mine was Clint Eastwood. He'd go up to his mountain and do his Western and I'd go up to my mountain and do my Western. But while his films had distribution all over the world, my films were distributed [everywhere] except Canada and America."

Disabled teen turns hobby into job as he quits school and rakes in £10k a month
Ross McLaren, 22, from Midlothian, Scotland, was born with a rare form of muscular dystrophy which left him wheelchair-bound - but he built a six-figure business while still in his teens A disabled teeenager has given up school after raking in £10,000 a month from his bedroom by managing some of the world's most famous online gamers. Ross McLaren, who was born with a unique form of muscular dystrophy and is wheelchair-bound, turned his passion for gaming into a lucrative career. Dreaming originally of pro-Fortnite stardom, the enterprising teenager created a six-figure business while living with his parents Lesley and Craig in Midlothian. Now 22, Ross helms a team of ten, managing the day-to-day affairs of some of the biggest names in the gaming industry, including the well-known Fortnite players Clix and Sentinel. Ross shared with the Record: "I really wanted to be a pro-Fortnite player but I realised I wasn't good enough. I got into video editing for professional Fornite players and started working with small gaming streamers for free when I was in school", reports the Daily Record. "By summer 2021 I was making £10,000 per month and I told my parents I didn't want to sit my Advanced Highers. They had their doubts and asked me to go back to school - but I quit after one day." He credits his disability as giving him a unique entrée into gaming, allowing him time to perfect his skills. He revealed: "Having muscular dystrophy was somewhat of an advantage for me as it meant I spent a lot more time on a computer when I was younger as I couldn't go out and play sports like other kids." Starting out by offering video editing services to smaller streamers, Ross eventually hit the jackpot just as he considered calling it quits. He said: "I was working with a streamer called Bugha who only had about 20,000 subscribers. Bugha played in the Fortnite World Cup in 2018 and won $3million. Overnight, his subscriber count hit one million." Since then, Bugha – now boasting a whopping 4.7 million YouTube subscribers – has remained loyal to Ross, leading to a business boom. Ross's talents didn't go unnoticed; he soon caught the attention of another Fortnite sensation, Clix, who commands an impressive 3.5 million YouTube followers. Despite initial reservations and a brief return to George Heriot's School under parental pressure, Ross quickly pivoted back to his passion, landing a game-changing opportunity. He was tapped to manage a gaming channel for none other than UK YouTube heavyweight KSI, who enjoys a staggering audience of over 22 million subscribers. Now a sought-after freelancer, Ross juggles content management for elite players like Clix and the renowned E-Sports organisation Sentinels from Los Angeles. With top Fortnite streamers like Clix raking in around £100,000 monthly, Ross earns a handsome commission for his content creation expertise. The ambitious young Scot is now eyeing a move to the US, aiming to set up shop closer to the action and his high-profile clientele. He said: "It's crazy how things have turned out. My job didn't exist a few years ago - now business is thriving." He's got his heart set on Dallas, explaining: "I hope to move to Dallas. With Fortnite, the servers are based there and many of the players are." Determined to take his career to the next level, he concluded: "I'm planning on taking the leap to move to be closer to my clients."
