Hollywood icon Jack Betts known for roles in Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond and superhero epics has died aged 96, his nephew has announced.
The actor, passed away in his sleep, at his home in Los Osos, California on Thursday. Jack starred in roles in Spiderman and Batman as well as featuring in much loved TV sitcoms.

As the Mirror reports, actor shared a home with his Everybody Loves Raymond co-star Doris Roberts before her death in 2016.

Jack was "best friends" with Doris and an Everybody Loves Raymond fan account paid tribute to the actor and confirmed that the pair were not married.
Posting on Instagram, they said: "Doris Roberts was close friends with Jack Betts, who you will remember from the Cruising With Marie episode. He played Walter on the ship and was a big champion of Marie.
"He passed yesterday at the age of 96. He has a very long list of credits. He was not Doris Roberts husband as has been reported elsewhere. He was a longtime friend of Doris' and we did see him with Doris at dinners and always enjoyed his company! This is a photo I took of Jack and Doris when he was visiting the set for the final episode."
His death was announced to the Hollywood Reporter, as his nephew, Dean Sullivan, told the publication he had died in his sleep at home.
Jack had some big credits to his name throughout an illustrious career. He played Tom in the Friends episode 'The One with Joey's New Brain'. Meanwhile, he also played businessman Henry Balkan in the 2002 hit movie, Spider-Man but his lengthy list of acting credits spans further than movies and television as he also played Dracula in Broadway during his incredibly successful acting career.

Tributes have poured in from friends and fans of the star who shared their condolences following the sad news. One person said: "Years ago Jack played an evil character on One Live to Live!!! I loved him and was excited to see him on Cruising With Marie…"
As another commented: "RIP to a legend. Jack Betts brought so much to the screen — from gritty westerns to comic book charm."
A third added: "Jack Betts from One Life to Live who played Dr. Ivan Kipling has passed away at the age of 96. He will always be remembered for the storyline he had with Judith Light who played Karen Wolek."
Jack was born in Miami in 1929 and went on to study theatre and appeared in a Broadway adaptation of William Shakespeare's Richard III. Despite becoming a star over the years for his TV appearances and films, Jack's films at that time did not air in the US or Canada which meant he found finding fame more difficult in those countries.
Landing a string of Westerns at the time, Jack said Clint Eastwood was even his neighbour at one point. He told The Dev Show in 2021: "In the hotel next to mine was Clint Eastwood. He'd go up to his mountain and do his Western and I'd go up to my mountain and do my Western. But while his films had distribution all over the world, my films were distributed [everywhere] except Canada and America."

The Hollyoaks star had fuelled speculation she split from five-month-old son Samuel's dad when she snubbed him on Father's Day Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis has confirmed her separation from boyfriend Joe McKalroy after a week of speculation. The actress, 32, had been dating Joe since 2022 and they welcomed baby son Samuel five months ago. ‌ Last week it was reported that the romance had come to an end after a message Stephanie shared on Father's Day that didn't mention the father of her child. ‌ Rumours went into overdrive after further comments from the former Celebrity Big Brother star, and on Sunday she took to Instagram to share a huge life update with fans. She revealed they have gone their separate ways. Stephanie also told followers she's now raising Samuel as a single parent, but didn't give details about the reason for the split. She said: "Never in a million years did I think I'd be writing this. I've been left with no choice but to address the rumours." ‌ She continued: "This has come as a complete shock and has been an incredibly painful and unexpected time. Just four months after having a baby - one of the most vulnerable and emotional times in a woman's life - I've found myself facing this chapter on my own." The TV personality then hinted at her previous relationship with Jeremy McConnell, who she shares a seven-year-old son with. She added: "After everything I've been through in the past, I truly believed I'd finally found my happiness - something secure and lasting. But that, heartbreakingly, hasn't been the case. ‌ "I'm grateful for the years we had because, without us, I wouldn't have my Samuel. Who will always be my priority. "Right now, I'm focusing on healing, protecting my peace, and doing the best I can - being there for my two beautiful boys. Thank you to those who've reached out - your kindness has meant more than I can say." Earlier, Stephanie had shared a post marking five months since Samuel's birth, as reports the Mirror, and again she did not mention Joe. ‌ She said: "This Day 5 months ago you came into this world. Only 5 months old today ( I know he's still a tiny baby). It's crazy to think he's not been out in this world as long as he was in my tummy. "From nearly losing you in the beginning, the worst pregnancy, I couldn't walk with pelvic girdle trapped in the house for months and months, a terrible birth, then lifting doing every night feed lifting after a C-section, then your breathing episodes which was the scariest time of my life, it's been a long hard traumatic road. ‌ "But here you are thriving my miracle my rainbow... my world... everything I do is for you and your brother and I will always be here every single day for you, cheering you on." She added: "I'm so lucky getting to watch you grow every single day by your side into the most beautiful little boy. It So sad I don't have many photos of me and you bar selfies I've taken, but from now on I'll make sure we have many together. You will always be my priority. I love you baby." Romeo Beckham's ex Kim Turnbull delivers savage dig after split and family rift

Romeo Beckham's ex Kim Turnbull, who he split from earlier this year amid rumours of a rift in his family, has opened up about dealing with being in the spotlight Kim Turnbull has opened up about being in the spotlight after making headlines over her relationship with Romeo Beckham. Her latest comments come after it was revealed that the former couple had split up just weeks ago. It was announced earlier this month that Kim, 25, had separated from Romeo, 22, after seven months together. It was suggested that they were on good terms though, with a source telling the Mirror at the time: "They split a few weeks ago and it's all amicable and they are still friends." ‌ The news of their break-up came amid ongoing rumours of tension in his family. Kim's relationship with Romeo - who is the son of Victoria Beckham and David Beckham - was previously blamed for the alleged rift in recent months. ‌ Amid the rumours earlier this year, it was suggested that Kim had once been romantically linked to Romeo's brother Brooklyn Beckham, 26. It's previously been reported that in a now-deleted post, youngest brother Cruz Beckham, 20, said the pair "never dated" and Kim is since understood to have herself dismissed the suggestion in a statement. Kim has addressed dealing with the attention in an interview with the Sunday Times, published this week. The interview is said to have taken place just hours after the news of the DJ's split from model Romeo broke just a few weeks ago. Speaking about dealing with being in the spotlight, Kim suggested that it is expected. She continued: "There are situations that you find yourself in that present you with new aspects, but at the same time I think it has always been something that I've been around and seen, so I just take it day by day and try to focus on the positives." She added: "Sometimes it's difficult to block things out because a lot of the time there are things said that are not necessarily true or necessarily positive, and your instinctive reaction is to want to be like, no, that's not true!" Kim said she's however learned to try to "take it with a pinch of salt". Kim said: "It's definitely tough, whatever it is, when people are saying things about you that aren't necessarily true and, most importantly in my opinion, don't align with your character and your values." She said that despite sometimes wanting to, "you just can't" reply to every comment. ‌ The new article comes after Kim appeared to dismiss the suggestion that she had ever dated Brooklyn following the rumours. As reported at the time, she addressed speculation in a post on Instagram earlier this month. In the post, she wrote: "I've avoided speaking on this topic to prevent adding fuel to the fire, however it's come to a point where I feel the need to address it so I can move on. I will not continue to receive harassment or be embarrassed on the basis of lies, to fit a certain narrative." ‌ She then seemingly addressed the speculation that she once dated Brooklyn, who is Romeo's older brother. She said: "I have never been romantically involved in ANY capacity at ANY point with the person in question." Kim went on to tell fans: "Nothing between us has occurred further than a school friendship at age 16. I would like to remove myself from the ongoing conversation and set the record straight for the sake of everyone involved." TMZ had previously suggested that she once had a romantic connection to Brooklyn, but said it was "all water under the bridge". Amid rumours of a family rift, the outlet reported that sources said the issue was over Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, questioning whether Kim had "the right intentions" for dating his younger brother Romeo. When it was announced that Kim had split from Romeo, the Daily Mail reported that their relationship had "fizzled out". The outlet suggested that the break-up was "nothing to do" with her being blamed for the alleged family rift, with a source instead saying that Kim and Romeo were simply both "busy" with work and each did "lots of travelling".

Antiques Road Trip star opens up on daughter's heartbreaking health battle and family 'struggle'

BBC Antiques Road Trip star Phillip Serrell said daughter Clementine's battle has been 'difficult' and 'hard to understand' Antiques Road Trip star Philip Serrell has opened up about his daughter's heartbreaking battle with anorexia. The BBC expert has been open and honest in the past about Clementine's health struggles, despite finding it hard to understand at first. Now that she's in recovery, Clementine wants to raise awareness and support others who are facing the same challenges she's experienced. ‌ Phillip shared his own struggles to comprehend what she was going through. He said: 'A s a dad, it's been very difficult, I've found it very hard to understand. ‌ "I've spent 62 years enjoying eating and it's very hard not to say 'Just eat, it's easy'." He also reflected on the progress his daughter made, admitting she's 'come through this on her own'. But Phillip candidly admitted his family are not out of the woods yet, and there are still tough situations to navigate. He added: 'Christmas a very difficult time of year because people suffering with anorexia get booze and food shoved at them - and that's very hard to deal with." Phillip's daughter first stepped into the public spotlight with her journey back in 2020 when she took to social media to post a comparison image of herself. In one of the pictures, she was at the height of the devastating illness, and in the second recent snap, she looked happier and healthier and working towards healing, as reports Devon Live. ‌ Brave Clementine aimed to empower others with her words, and said: "Never think you can't escape." She then went on to detail her battles with anorexia and bulimia, explaining she thinks the catalyst was the end of a significant relationship. She believes the internal turmoil led to feeling disassociated from her life. She disclosed that in 2011, she made herself vomit 'about eight times' on New Year's Eve, waking up on New Year's Day "full of shame and utter self loathing". The next year, she started suffering from anorexia. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. She went on: "That was the worst year, and Christmas, ever. It was just pure hell, with no escape. I was TOTALLY consumed by the eating disorder, addicted to it, addicted to counting calories and 'burning off' what I could. I weighed EVERYTHING. I counted the calories in EVERYTHING. I hated what I'd become but I was petrified of giving up that addiction." She said her journey to recovery has felt painfully slow at times as she added: "After a long, and at times sooooo painfully slow, recovery I'm here, where I am now... I will always talk about eating disorders, and I'll always be honest. I don't post things like this for any praise or anything like that but to show others that you can get your life back." ‌ She said she is now committed to raising awareness about eating disorders. She went on: "I will always talk about eating disorders, and I'll always be honest. I don't post things like this for any praise or anything like that but to show others that you can get your life back. And also because I genuinely believe EDs are still very misunderstood and that kills me a bit. 'This is a hard time to go through, especially if you have an eating disorder but know that there can be life on the other side. And know that you really are strong enough to get there."
