New Delhi [India], June 18 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday and discussed various important issues related to the overall development of the state.
In view of the increasing challenges in the field of cybersecurity, the Chief Minister has requested the Union Home Minister to approve an amount of Rs 63.60 crore for the establishment of the 'Cyber Centre of Excellence' in Dehradun.
This center will play an important role in the prevention of digital crimes, expert training, cyber forensics and the development of modern resources.
The Chief Minister, while discussing the damage caused to the power infrastructure of the state due to natural disasters, apprised the Union Home Minister that, keeping in view the geographical disparities of small Himalayan states, power generation, transmission and distribution assets should be brought under the purview of compensation under NDRF and SDRF. This will make the disaster management system of the state more effective and stronger.
The Chief Minister requested for early approval of the proposal for expansion of Sitarganj Central Jail at a cost of Rs 150.16 crore.
Referring to the Uttarakhand Global Investor Summit-2023 successfully organised under the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister said that the state has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on investment proposals worth more than Rs 3.50 lakh crore.
Describing this achievement as a matter of pride for the state, the Union Home Minister was informed that celebrating it as a festival, 'Uttarakhand Investment Festival' is proposed to be organized, which will be organized in the industrial area of Pantnagar-Rudrapur.
The Chief Minister invited the Union Home Minister to attend this program as the chief guest.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured positive action on all the proposals of the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister said that the Uttarakhand government is committed to realising the vision of 'New India' under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

No Nukes For Iran...: US Defence Secy Hails Spectacular Military Success After Airstrikes

Israel-Iran Conflict: After the United States struck Iran's nuclear sites in Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz, amid tensions with Israel, US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth stated that the strikes were "an incredible and overwhelming success." He also added that United States President Donald Trump has consistently said for over a decade that Iran must not get a nuclear weapon. "Last night, on President Trump's orders, US Central Command conducted a precision strike in the middle of the night against three nuclear facilities in Iran, Fordeau, Natanz, and Isfahan, in order to destroy or severely degrade Iran's nuclear program. It was an incredible and overwhelming success," Hegseth said. "The order we received from our commander in chief was focused, it was powerful, and it was clear that we had devastated the Iranian nuclear program. It's worth noting the operation did not target Iranian troops or the Iranian people..." he added. #WATCH | US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth says "Last night, on President Trump's orders, US Central Command conducted a precision strike in the middle of the night against three nuclear facilities in Iran, Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, in order to destroy or severely degrade… — ANI (@ANI) June 22, 2025 Trump On Iran's Nuclear "For the entirety of his time in office, President Trump has consistently stated for over 10 years that Iran must not get a nuclear weapon, full stop. Thanks to President Trump's bold and visionary leadership and his commitment to peace through strength, Iran's nuclear ambitions have been obliterated. Many Presidents have dreamed of delivering the final blow to Iran's nuclear program, and none could until President Trump," the US Secretary of Defence said. On the other hand, in his first public remarks since the 'precision' strikes in Iran, Trump warned that he could order further action if Tehran does not agree to a satisfactory peace agreement. In his address to the nation from the White House on Saturday (local time), the US President said, 'There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than we've witnessed over the last eight days.' Trump thanked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said, 'I want to thank Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu. We worked as a team like perhaps no team has ever worked before, and we've gone a long way to erasing this horrible threat to Israel.' Top brass of the US political leadership stood beside US President Trump as he delivered the remarks, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Secretary of Defence, Pete Hegseth. Trump's announcement comes just two days after saying he had opened a two-week window for diplomacy. Israel-Iran Conflict The conflict between Israel and Iran entered its ninth day on Saturday, with the US launching strikes on the latter. The conflict started after Jerusalem, on June 13, launched a massive airstrike on Iranian military and nuclear sites, codenamed 'Operation Rising Lion.' In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a large-scale drone and missile operation, 'Operation True Promise 3', targeting Israeli fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply centres. On Saturday (local time) US bombed the three Iranian nuclear facilities, after which several world leaders have weighed in on the continued tensions.

'Rain No Barrier': Amit Shah Says Naxals Won't Sleep Easy This Monsoon

Last Updated: Amit Shah assured the Maoists that he would wholeheartedly welcome them if they laid down arms and joined the mainstream. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that despite it being the monsoon season, the anti-Naxal operations will continue, also urging the Maoists to lay down arms and join the journey of development while ruling out any talks. His remarks came while he was laying foundation stones for the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) campus and a Central Forensic Science Lab in Chhattisgarh's Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. 'Every time during the rainy season, Naxalites used to get rest (as swollen rivers hamper anti-Naxal operations inside dense forest), but this time, we will not let them sleep during monsoon, and we will move further to achieve the target of 31/3 (2026 to eliminate Naxalism)," Shah said. 'Lay down arms and join the journey of development; no need for talks. Just give up armed struggle and join the mainstream," he added. Shah even assured that he would wholeheartedly welcome them if they laid down arms and joined the mainstream. Whatever promises the Chhattisgarh government and the Centre have made to them will be fulfilled, and we will try to help you even more, he said. Further speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to make India a developed country by 2047, he said, 'It is not focused only on innovation, infrastructure, industrial and economic developments, but ensuring timely justice is also included and three new laws (Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam) will help in ensuring timely justice." Meanwhile, amid the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh, a woman Naxalite carrying a bounty of Rs 8 lakh was killed in an encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Friday morning. The gunfight broke out on a forested hill under Chhotebethiya police station limits when a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Border Security Force (BSF) was out on an anti-Naxal operation, Kanker Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela told PTI. With the latest action, 212 Naxalites have been killed in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh so far this year. First Published:
