FIR after Noida logistics firm claims client data hacked
Noida: A logistics company based in Noida has reported a serious data breach, alleging that cyber criminals accessed sensitive personal information of its high-profile clients, including senior bureaucrats, judges, defence personnel, and diplomats. A complaint filed by Agarwal Movers and Packers Ltd president and CEO, Jaswinder Singh Ahluwalia, stated several clients have received suspicious and invasive phone calls from unknown individuals beginning June 1. The callers appeared to have access to confidential details such as addresses, phone numbers, and schedules related to the movement of household goods. The breach, according to the company based out of Sector 60, does not only pose a privacy threat to its clientele but could also carry implications for national security, given the nature of the individuals affected. Following a preliminary inquiry, Cyber Crime police registered a case under BNS sections 318(4) and 319(2) for cheating and impersonation, along with Sections 66, 66C, and 66D of the IT Act, which pertain to data theft, identity misuse, and cyber fraud. Authorities said an investigation is currently underway to trace the origin of the breach and identify the individuals involved in accessing and misusing the sensitive data.
